    So is there an actual problem with continuing with the 32bit version?

    No problem, but each time there is an update DIM will try to switch to 64-bit.

    Thanks,

    I'll leave it for now.

    On my Windows 10 DAZ3DIM_1.1.0.98_Win64 crash continues. Can't figure it out. Downloaded, install/uninstall several time with the same resualt. Untill the current update I had been running DAZ3DIM_1.1.0.67_Win32 and it work great.

    I would welcome suggestions.

    At what point does it crash?

    Just after the download begins.

    Does it crash with any file you try to download, or just the one?

    Crashes with any file trying to download.

    Sorry for the hoops, but please try another file and attach the crash log after that.

    If I'm reading this correctly - your DIM download directory path is just C:\ ?

    Not sure if this:

    Application Data:
    	Location = C:/Users/Chuck/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/InstallManager

    . . . is what you mean.

    Nope.

    Click the gear icon, top right in DIM and go to the downloads tab. The 'Download to' path (see attached - I dump mine to a usb drive). IIRC there used to be a limit in the number of objects Windows would allow on the C: drive root directory; I don't know if that ever changed.

    I don't know if it changed after the new update and not sure what is should be set to now. All of my DAZ content is on a separate internal drive.

    It shouldn't be C: as that is usually the Boot\Programs\Windows location. Open Windows\File Explorer and see what the internal drive letter where you content is and change it to that.

    I'd create a new directory (on a separate drive, if available, but that's just me) and then point DIM to it by changing the 'Download to' path. And if you have DIM files  (IM----.zip and IM---.dsx) directly under c:\ move them to the new directory as well.

    The base error is that DIM cannot create the file it wants to write. Ah - just for grins - what free space do you have on the C: drive?

    According to his log:

    Current Download Path:
    	Location = C:
    	Disk Total: 930.5 GB (999182352384)
    	Disk Avail: 377.4 GB (405275234304)

    What also concerns me is this:

    Current 64-bit Software Install Path:
    	Location = D:/MacMini2

    And note that he doesn't mean installed content, just the original download content (just to clarify smiley)

    That fixed it. DIM is running the downloads like it always did. Works great!

    The reason "Location = D:/MacMini2" is becasue I left Mac for PC and when I move all my content to the new D drive I just left the name the same. I have never regreated the move. My PC is strictly for DAZ Studio.

    Thank you so much, DoctorJellybean and namffuak, I appreciate all your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

    Great!

    @DoctorJellybean - I'm going to assume at this point that there is still a restriction on file and/or directory count on the boot drive root directory. This makes a certain amount of sense - at startup there may not be code available to chase down directory trees looking for initialization files.

  • Installed and working great. I uninstalled the 32-bit and manually installed the 64-bit version I’m using Windows 10.

  • Every time I try to run the Install Manager, it crashes when it starts downloading new items. The message says "Inatall Manager has encountered a fatal error, and must close."

    Exception Reason:

    DAZ3DIM.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1\QtCore4.dll" at 0033:0000000050633A76, QIODevice::isOpen()+6 byte(s)

    I'm running the 64bit version that I just updated this morning. I've left messages with tech support with no answer. Any ideas?

  • I changed the download directory and now the 64 bit works. Strange, because it worked before I upgraded to 64 bit.

    Had you run the previous version as administrator? (Ah, I am told that having launched the application from the installer in the older builds might also have geenrated permission issues for the folders, an issue which has since been fixed, so it could be permission issues even without having explicitly Run as Administrator.)

    Any reason why you are not using the 64 bit version as your OS seems to be 64 bit?

    I am having issues with DIM.  I opened it up and said it needs to be updated, but trying to update it again.  Hopefully I can start using DIM again soon.

    not sure but how do I find that out?

    I was wondering would it be bad to play in DS while installing stuff via DIM?
