What is the purpose of these OBJ items?

So lately I've been seeing products like this:
https://www.daz3d.com/obj-ripped-tiny-jeans-shorts
And I'm confused. What's the point in getting them when all the stuff I buy on here is in OBJ format anyway. I was under the impression that I could already import those in whatever other 3d tools are out there.
What's special about these? Are they under a different license or something?
And incase my tone is misunderstood, this is a genuine question, not a criticism.

... Can you explain what prevents all the other Genesis 1,2,3, 8, Micheal and Victoria 4, you name it piece of clothing, all sets and props from being used in programs other than Daz?
They're obj too.
From what I understand, these products are made to be used in Marvelous Designer.
I honestly don't see the point of these files either.
I personally don't see the need for alternative files in other formats since users can export the mesh out anyway. Granted there are some users that want to use DS content in other apps like maya, max, unity, etc for legit purposes, but based on what I see around the web, more are using them in other, non licensed ways. I am all for DAZ finding new ways to monetize ther assets, but I highly doubt this is it.
Maybe DAZ has some new connection with maya now since they seem to be trying to add support for it for some odd reason.
I find it confusing that the product page says it is compatible with Daz Studio, but then the details say you have to jump through all the hoops to rig it with the transfer utility, etc. I assume it won't have good weight maps or JCMs or any of the stuff we "expect" in a Daz Studio compatible product.
There's a thread about it when the Black Leather Jacket hit the store: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/242826/what-s-up-with-the-black-leather-jacket
If I remember correctly, I think @Llynara tried to get it to work but had some issues with it - I think it needs, as barbult said, joint controlled morphs and weight mapping. Definitely sounds like a lot of work for an item at that price point. Though the shorts and stuff might need less work than a high collared long sleeve jacket like the leather jacket.
I remember that leather jacket that was released during one of the big sales and several bought but had problems getting it to work in daz some did eventually but it wa intended mainly for maya looked really good too as do these new clothing but yeah too much mucking around for me
What does this mean? I thought stuff bought from Daz.com was fine for use in programs like Max and Maya anyway. Unity is different cause I know that'd need a difference license to distribute the assets. But Max and Maya??
I believe that the point is that some Maya, etc. users may wish to use some meshes for DAZ products in their program without having to install DAZ Studio and export the mesh. Simple as that, I believe. Not all DAZ products come with .obj files. In fact, I believe that the majority of newer products are in DSON format and do not. In the case of that particular vendor, they seem to want to produce assets in Autodesk products for use in Autodesk software and DAZ3D agreed to be a broker for them. Not all products sold in the store need to be compatible with DAZ Studio. Although DAZ Studio may be their flagship software and most of the content in the store is for it, there are also some products for Poser, Carrara, Bryce, etc. that either are incompatible or only partially compatible out of the box. Not certain what the issue is as long as the requirements are stated.
Doesn't particularly make much sense to me, but it's an explanation.
There was no "issue", was a simple series of questions.
