The thread  was meant as a help thread so those who wanted avoid products with issue could choose other products instead, but as it come to focus on just this product it seems like the quality control during Mars madness has worked really good yes

Btw the bathroom looks really nice now:

    Re: Title of this thread:
Please don't take offense, but I only read this thread because the title said 'MARS" madness - everybody is tip-toeing around it, but most people would say MARCH Madness. I understand there are language issues, but some people were totally sidetracked by this. Re-read their comments in this light and you will 'get it'.  There was even a Marvin The Martian reference from the old Bugs Bunny days (and a tip o'the hat to you, good person!). Just thought I'd shed some light on the sub-text of this thread.

Now, I'm betting the missing floor section had something to do with hiding an Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator somewhere in there.

Perhaps the OP was acknowledging who the month was named after.

There are multiple currently spoken (some fairly common) languages where March is Mars.

  • So, the mad March hares.... are from Mars?  :D :D  I think you just gave me an idea for a render!  LOL!

As for this room, I bought this a few weeks ago.  My main gripe with it is the toilet lid doesn't open.  One of my pet peeves.

Thanks you for the heads up and explanation, much needed in this case.

A very accurate observation in this case, both March and Mars are spelled Mars in my languish.

Well, I've got one for you: Vini for Genesis 8 Male. I'm sure it will show up at 70% off again in the next catchup.

Vini is a Daz buyout, so I don't know it this can get fixed, with the vendor no longer involved. If you look closely at renders of Vini, (here's one posted in another thread,) you can clearly see the seam between the torso and the arms. I spent some time looking for the problem and it turns out the seam mismatch is in the SSS maps used in the Translucency settings!

As long as you keep the seams covered, it won't be an issue.

But another thing about Vini is the color of the skin from about the elbows down is so pale as to look like they belong on a different character. Very odd. and worth looking into before you decide to buy.

I think that particular render was using Edward's HD morphs, could that be the issue screwing with the seams?

No. It's definitely the SSS maps. I linked to that image because it's large and the seams are easy to see. But my own testing was with Vini alone. Remove the SSS maps from the Translucency setting and the seams go away. He looks pink as a marshmallow Easter bunny without the maps, but there are definitely no seams. I also substituted the SSS maps from another of JavierMichael's guys, Isamu, and there were no seams. (That's not a solution, just basic troubleshooting.)

I already filed a ticket about it. Hopefully it will get fixed. But I'm not holding my breath.

I have a ticket on Kagiso, also by JavierMichael. That was also in the Translucency settings, but easy to workaround as it was the color settings that were different in some of the presets. It got updated by the vendor, but apparently my original message wasn't passed on verbatim, as the face presets did not get updated. And his fingernails are still green. The ticket was filed 1/29 and the last response was 2/7… Ticket is still open, and the vendor has yet to fix the product. Maybe because of the pressures of MM, but if the vendor can't get his own product updated for months, what chance do we have with products he's sold to Daz? Like you, I'm not holding my breath.

I'm also not buying any more products from JavierMichael until I see Kagiso is fixed. And if it's a Daz buyout, maybe never. Depends on whether or not Daz gets Vini fixed in a timely manner.

It's so disappointing though. I really like Vini's skin and was planning on using on using it on a character, but now I either have to wait or try and fix it myself. I genuinely don't understand how this sort of thing can be missed. And it seems to happen so often on male characters. Which is even more frustrating!

So, the mad March hares.... are from Mars?  :D :D  I think you just gave me an idea for a render!  LOL!

In the Roman calendar, Mars was the first month, named after the was god Mars, who also gave name to the planet, Mars. Guess why the seventh month in their calendar was September, and the tenth, December, the Eight, October;)

All worked fine until Julius Caeser and Augustus became emperors and decided they wanted a month named after them. Might have been easier if they had added the new months to the end, but maybe they both wanted their months in the summer.

So what are January, February, April, May and June named after? June for the Goddess Juno?

  • January, May and June are named after gods: Janus, Maia and Juno. The meaning of April is uncertain: the Romans believed it came from a word meaning "opening" (of buds and leaves, perhaps) but today this interpretation is disputed by linguists, although it may well be correct. February comes from the Latin for purification. Julius and Augustus caesar renamed months after themselves. The remaining months literally mean 7th to 10th month in Latin; they seem to be misnumbered because the Romans started counting from March.

January from the God Janos. February was from the latin word for purification, the origin of April is a matter of dispute, May from Goddess Maia, and June is likely from Juno, but is also unclear.

It's amazing that we've kept the same calendar since Greek and Roman times and that months and time units were created at all and spread to be universal without the use of social media, TV or radio...

Although the ancients did not quite get it right, which is why the UK and US lost 11 days in 1752 when they adopted the Gregorian Calendar.

Don't forget that the days of the week are also named for gods or planets - in our case the Germanic equivalents of the Latin names for the most part.

Depends on which ancients you're referring to.

It probably goes a lot further back; Babylonian astronomy did a lot of counting in twelves and sixtys, and a good argument can be made that the very early Greeks and later the Romans picked up on this as "the knowledge of the ancients".

There are a few common theories behind April’s naming.

One is that the name is rooted in the Latin Aprilis which is derived from the Latin aperire meaning “to open” – which could be a reference to the opening or blossoming of flowers and trees, a common occurrence throughout the month of April in the northern hemisphere. Another theory holds that since months are often named for gods and goddess, and since Aphrilis is derived from the Greek “Aphrodite,” one can conclude that the month was named for the Greek goddess of love (the goddess that the Romans called Venus)! Even now, April is a popular name.

I rather like the fact that originally January and Febuary didn't exist and the year statred in March and ended in December.  Jan and Feb was just ignored as  yukky winter.

Julius Caesar never became Emperor, and Augustus was orginally Octavian.
