...here if the prize is above 600$ you have to go to the Lottery HQ in Salem and it is paid in the form of a cheque. Under 600$, lottery outlets will pay in cash. 4 of 6 usually nets me between 35$ & 45$. With the long drought I feel I should be due for at least one 5 of 6 hit.
I'm not taking the bus to the fancy resort on a weekend anymore. Traffic is so bad that my bus was one hour and 30 minutes late. It seems that the cars are trying to enter the parking garage when it is already full. I'll take the water taxi for $10 next time.
Is it normal for a package shipped by FedEx from Orlando go to Memphis then to Raleigh?
you are very wise!!

..seen to flutterbys already here.
...kind of "smoky" but in a different way . Some consider it an "acquired taste".
...not unusual as Memphis is their major hub.
I remember mailing a letter to south Olympia WA and it first went up to Seattle.
It's called "hub and spoke"

My daughter's fire and the arrival of 6 kittens 4 weeks ago keep me occupied. I have temporary custody of her dog too.
i'm late to the metformin party .. diabetic here as well but more type two insulin resistent than anythign else. Metformin can only help if you help it out too. Instead of a pound of cake, have a bite. Instead of a dozen cookies, have half a cookie now, half tomorrow. It gets depressing when you can't have what you used to have (went through that and ended up in a very dark place since I stress eat).
If you have a craving, give it a couple days. If it doesn't go away, have a little bit but don't gorge.
All things in moderation and that includes treats.
No two diabetics are the same, since diabetes has so many variables including other bodily systems (thyroid, pancreas, etc.) that work or don't work together properly.
PS: read up on the heath benefits of Rye Berries.
Good story about the dog! Glad everybody's OK.
Non-Complaint: Only two weeks and 2 days before my next SS deposit, and I'm again under budget. Bills are paid, no need for major groceries, car is full of gasoline, 90-day prescriptions have been bought, no doctor appointments or bills until after the next SS deposit, I've already contributed my usual amount to savings for this month, and it looks like I can have a couple mini-adventures for meals out, or movies and I'll still have an extra $200 left over at the end of the period. Yea!
All I have to do is not throw any of it towards DAZ's direction or on-line auctions, or Amazon.
HOWEVER, the next month is a 5-week SS month and there will be several doctor's appointments and doctor bills come due and it will be good weather, and I'm itching for another adventure to some significant city, so..... I guess I shouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched, my car could all of a sudden demand major attention again.
I had hoped to be able to make another trip to Florida this year to see my favorite cousins before we all fade away, but I don't think it's going to happen. I hate the airport experience these days, and I'm too broad in the beam to be comfortable in standard airplane seats anymore. It's a 23 hour drive. I can't drive more than about 6 hours a day anymore. Motel rates are frightening, gasoline cost in the south isn't bad but the thought of car trouble with a 15 year old car a thousand miles from home doesn't make me feel easy. I can't go to Florida and not spend a day or two at the major amusement parks in the Orlando area and I tend to enjoy and pamper($$$) myself at those parks. Guess I'll have to settle for less ambitious adventures this year. The Renaissance Faire in Stirling NY sounds like fun. http://www.sterlingfestival.com/ I can do that in one day without requiring a motel Only three hours away. Or possibly a trip to one of a couple of famous, long established (old-timer) amusement parks, like "Hershey Park" in Hershey, PA (where they make the candy). Or "Kenneywood" east of Pittsburgh, PA. "Kenneywood" is only 3 hours away, but Hershey, PA is about twice as far and would require a motel stayover before driving back with much of the drives in darkness. Amusement park roller coasters fit in with my philosophy "Once you're over the hill, if you're not screaming on the way down you've wasted your ticket."
Perhaps I can manage those adventures in the late summer or early fall.
...wow good they are all OK (from the picture looks like it was pretty bad).
So you are now hosting a hero.
...does the train go near by where you live? There are two trains from NYC to the Orlando area though both are an overnight trip.
i luv buttercream cake frosting, need a 'lower' sugar recipe
dont know how else to make the frosting stay on the cake.
Try jam. My mum used to use it for solid icing but I don't know if it will work with buttercream. Funny you mention cakes, I was just going to complain about cake mix. What is the point of cake mix? Either make the cake properly or buy one, don't mix cake mix with water then claim you baked a cake. That is just dishonest!
i dont trust ingredients i cant pronounce.
bread ingredients too.
Hope you do not go to Czech Republic and go grocery shopping. That is assuming you cannot pronounce Czech words?
...
Nope, train service up here sucks royal swamp water. My best bet is to drive to Washington DC (8 hours) and catch the AutoTrain from there and have it take my car down with me but that a pricey($$$) deal too. We used to have east/west train service right through this town I'm in. I was born across the street from the train station. I now live three blocks from where it used to be. But all we get through here anymore is coal cars and oil tank cars and precious few of them. And there's no passenger service north/south from Buffalo. Anything going south from Buffalo has to go through Cleveland or NYC. American passenger train service sucks royal swamp water except in the Washington DC, Baltimore, Philladelphia, NYC area, and Connecticut. Other service is spotty and the prices are terrible. America is geared for cars.
Czech words, is that similar to crosswords?
Only if you get on the wrong side of them.
I thougjht it was the words that you used to write the name of the numbers when you are paying a bill with a ..... oh forget it.
No clue but I have been to Czech Republic but that was maybe twenty years ago. Has it really been 20 years since I have been to Europe?
english recipes in metrics a challenge.
haz Czech low sugar frosting recipes?
...wasn't sure hos close the East west trains from Chicago came by. .
Yeah once a great way to travel. Still my personal choice as I can get up walk around and don't have to deal with all the TSA rubbish as to what I can and cannot take on board as well as all the fees for things that used to be included in your ticket price. Then of course like you mentioned, there is that torture device known as the airline coach seat.
I cannot fly in regular coach with my condition. I even have trouble getting my legs in and out out of the front seat of most cars today (save for something like a Ford Crown Vic or a big F-150 Pickup). So when I do have to fly it has to be in First. Even the "premium coach" doesn't work it may have more legroom but hip room (or lack thereof) is the same because of that middle seat. It is also much more expensive, and you still have to pay luggage fees. Planning a trip back to Wisconsin this summer and can fly First from Portland To Milwaukee (nonstop even) for 745$ whereas Delta's "Comfort Coach" is about 700$ plus 100$ for my luggage and I have to connect somewhere (one of the recommended flights had me going to Dallas first, then up to Milwaukee while the other one through Minneapolis was a "redeye").
Sadly the fare for the same trip by train, even with a senior discount, has gone up as I need a compartment for the three day trip. Used to be able to do it for around 800$ - 900$, now it's more like 1,400$ - 1,600$. True all your meals & such are included and you have the privacy, but egads it's expensive. I really wish they'd bring back the old "slumber coaches" with the upper/lower berths. They were so much more affordable (usually a small surcharge over the base fare) and you could actually sleep rather than sit up half awake all night and not arrive at your destination totally disheveled and weary.
