Have the Iray memory use on top toolbar in Green if in danger of going over in Red.  It would also benifit Iray users to have the temperatures for their cards in a window that will stop Iray render if card is in danger of burning up. Iray is really hard on video cards and unless you have over the top cooling for Iray you run the risk of killing your video card.

... Probably the thing I'd like most, is to know if it's going to be 5.0 or 4.10... and when it's coming. laugh

@OP please rename thread to 5.0 or 4.10.

I'd like to see an in house dynamic cloth tool with animation support and gravity coming with DS 5.

I'm a noob, so what I'm saying here may not really be applicable.

DAZ cannot offer free porn kids could download, so it makes perfect sense that people have to buy anatomical elements separately rather than receiving them in the free product. And yet making the anatomical elements objects separate from the character bodies causes a variety of problems for the people who use them.

I'm wondering if the male and female bodies could be designed as complete, anatomically correct objects, but have the naughty bits' vertices placed so the anatomy is by default completely folded up and not visible in any way. The Pro Bundles could contain the morphs that reveal the anatomy and permit DS to unhide the related bones. For this to work, when the anatomy is tucked away, you'd want DS to be able to edit geometry and textures sent to the renderer, so as to remove those polygons which could only take up memory without affecting the resulting render.

They've been saying Genesis 4 is coming in June, but I see no obvious indication, since there is no new public beta version of DAZ Studio to showcase it in as yet.

I may be mistaken, but I think the Iray rendering engine is quite expensive. I don't know what deal DAZ has with Nvidia to be able to give away DS with Iray for free, but I worry that the deal will expire and one day Iray will be lost.

3Delight renders seem pretty darn ugly once you've gotten used to Iray, so I don't want DS to go back. I'd like to see an exploration of using Cycles or some other open-source rendering engine that can produce results comparable to Iray.

I hate, hate, hate the way body parts will sometimes jump out of position when you click on them with the Active Pose Tool. Even pinned body parts or whole characters will shift position by a little bit just upon being clicked for selection. It would be nice if this bug were fixed, and if pinning did its job a little better.

The program should make a pinned foot or hand extremely resistant to being dragged out of position, because the hand may be grasping a support or the foot may be bearing the character's weight.

If you open a scene with the viewport in Iray render mode, the program can become terribly unresponsive, sometimes for quite a long time. It would be nice if the UI were fixed so Iray wouldn't make the system unresponsive--or failing that, if we had a key combination that would instantly kill any Iray preview render in progress and switch the viewport to texture-shaded mode.

Substance Painter does this too, so it's likely a facet of how Iray works.

I hate that keyboard commands are undoable. Whenever I accidentally hit a keyboard command by mistake my viewport gets all altered and I must reload.

Not Daz, they haven't (or at least I've seen no posts that state new Daz in June); there is also no indication if it will be 4.10 or 5.0 - the next release of Daz. Beta seems to have been quiet, but I have no idea what that means.

G4 is expected in June due to previous release cycles; those saying it is coming in June, are not PAs, nor are they in any way affiliated with Daz; it is merely speculation.

Speculation does tend to rule the roost in the Daz forums,  especially those who express speculation as though it was indeed fact. When someone with a DAZ_Prefix posts something,  then the chances are that will be fact, other than that anything stated in the forum about this sort of subject is all going to be mere conjecture.

    Possibly Linux support?

I want improved animation and advanced physics affecting hair, like in iClone

I would kill for HTC Vive support.  Be able to move around the scene, click a button on the touch control and drag a body part where I want it, use both controls for twist/bend/etc

This would be awesome. You can at least do 3D with Rift and Vive with two viewports open when using Virtual Desktop, but it's a pain to navigate the UI.

Quite likely to happen, actually, at least the Windows 7/8 suppport; I know of applications in one of my other hobbies that still support Windows XP, even though it no longer has updates.

It's a pain to navigate in 2D for folks with 4K monitors... ;) And i suspect it's going to be like get 3D mouse suppprt in zBrush.

I'd like to see the ability to sort the icons in the Content Library by time created, by time modified, or by name. Or be able to hold a manually organized custom arrangement.

You can't expect everyone to be an advanced software engineer with all of those skills required to change a system preference....

Well, my render machine is Win7 and six years old - I'll move to Win10 with a new renderbeast. Of course, if Daz5 were to support only Win10, that might be a motivation to stop buying content for a year, which would save me enough money to buy a new PC.

I'm more worried about Connect Only content being pushed at some point - otoh, that would save me even more money, and there's plenty in my runtime already smiley

It isn't hard to do, but there are tools/utilities out there that do it if you don't want to go into Services.

..yeah not hard to do, but then forget using the DIM or downloading content from other stores as that requires going online. If 5.0 requires "phoning home" for any reason like more and more software is doing, you would need to stay connected. Then there is the issue of W10 "robbing" a significant percentage of VRAM. Not into spending 700$ for a 1080ti to have the memory resources of a lesser card

...however, you cannot pose characters or props with moving parts in Bryce so you still need Daz or Poser. As to having programmes disabled by Windows that is only an issue with the forthcoming W10-S which is targeted at schools, libraries and the like
