Precise Control over Render Quality

I had only learned about the Render Quality tabs, a few months ago.  Between the advanced options of "Max. Samples" and "Max Time (seconds)", "Rendering Quality" and Rendering Converged Ratio", the render result and time it will take to complete is EXTREMELY flaky and all over the board.

If you max. out "Max Time (seconds)" and "Rendering Quality"  set to 1, the render should take 72 hours to complete.  But this is never the case, not even close.

When I render, I prefer the render to take its sweet time to complete: 8 to 16 hours since I am away at work and sleeping for that duration.  I would like to be precious control over how long the render will take to complete.

If you want it to take a set time, regardless of convergence, then turn Render Quality off and set maxSamples to -1 (I think).
