I may get slammed for this, but I'm changing topics for a moment. Just watched the 50th anniv. episode of Dr.Who- and it was pretty good. Won't say how or when in case someone hasn't seen it, but they do reference ALL the Doctors.

Watched it on BBC1 Live Stream.

LOL! You must have unlimited bandwidth

I don't have the fastest speed, but it gets the job done. :-)

It's not that bad, usually - a standard episode takes well under 1GB, this was about one and a half episodes. I certainly wasn't disappointed, nothing happened to drag me out of the suspension of disbelief and it worked as a story, the SFX were almost all up to the job.

This was the first time I'd watched an entire Matt Smith episode, But having been a fan since the Tom Baker days, I had no trouble following along.

If you're concerned the discussion may be out of place here, remember, there's an ongoing Doctor Who thread upon the DAZ forums.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1947/

Alas, it's lost steam since the site rebuild, but I'm hoping the recent programming will give it a boost.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Not going to slam you for it as I am a Dr. Who fan as well, but there is a dedicated thread for that show and until the TARDIS shows up in 10 forward can we please keep on topic?

Well, I haven't seen it, yet, so I'll stick to the topic (for now ;) ).

Just playing around, out of curiosity, and also to see how easy or hard it is to get more accuracy, but I'm experimenting with a wedge-shaped TOS quarters set. Right now, I'm just putting pieces together in Lightwave and trying to figure out if it's possible to make it modular enough to allow one to at least create a decent set of corridors outside the quarters, and if the wedge shape of the quarters will allow sufficient room - I'm basing it on a scan of Stage 9 construction blueprints from "Journey to Babel" that I've found online, and the resolution just isn't high enough to get really accurate, but I believe I at least have the wedge angles close (22.5°).

Another experiment I want to try is one in standardization: I want to see if a decent set of quarters can be constructed based on the arches found in the conference room set - they have a similar curve, and the outwardly-angled wall, that just begs the question of whether they were actually trying to intimate the same structure or whether it was just a design motif. If I were to sit down today and create new designs based on TOS's interiors, ones that evoked the originals but weren't intended to replicate them, I think I'd design it so that those arches would be revealed as structural beams of the ship's skeleton, and they'd be metallic with high-tech hardware in evidence, rather than looking like plasterboard ;), and the rooms and corridors would have a more ship-like look to them, less hotel-like, but still be very recognizable as the Old Gray Lady's guts ;).

And while playing, I also threw together an extended set based on the parts I already have - no curve, but if it were along the outer rim of the saucer, or somewhere in the secondary hull, one could probably explain it away ;).

While I'm still offline, I thought I'd drop off a 'Hello' while I'm at my sister's place. I'm working on a 'Mark Two' version
of my Connie Kit, which will have MANY more options than the old Kit, including a UVmapped Hull. :) Here are a pair
of renders to show off. One has all the current parts laid out, and the other shows off the new Motion Picture nacelles
I just completed. The are more shots on my Deviant Art page if you're curious. I'll pop by again the next time I'm at
    my sister's place. Chao!

Anyone know where I can find a set of basic hand poses for M4? Pointing, fist, relaxed, the basic poses.

Adam Thwaites has a set for free:
    http://www.most-digital-creations.com/free_poser_poses_textures_morphs_props_27.htm
Search for "Free Hand Poses for M4" - it's roughly two-thirds of the way down the page.

Thanks. I found his listing at Renderosity but I always have trouble finding anything on his site.

Anyone recognise this? It's a model for a corridor based on Star Trek: Enterprise. I can't find my original zip file on it. I need to know who made it.

Great design on this ship. Love the shape of this over the typical long skinny designs they have.
