Fastgrab has changed.
An RSS-feed of Fastgrab or even the whole shop would be great, but my newsreader won't accept any of Daz's URLs. Hm.
There are actually a couple of URLs to RSS feeds buried in the code of the DAZ website:
http://www.daz3d.com/rss/catalog/special/store_id/1/cid/8/
http://www.daz3d.com/rss/catalog/new/store_id/1/
but I don't know exactly what those can be counted on to return. They're also intensely slow, and likely to time-out.
if I had to guess, they're probably something that the Magento platform inserts automatically into the page code, and DAZ has either no idea that they're there or no intention that they should be used. The extreme slowness also makes me wonder if they're executing some kind of unoptimized query across a large part of the DAZ product database, and if we all start using them we'll end up DDoS'ing DAZ. Which would not be a friendly act, and counter-productive to boot.
It would be great if DAZ did offer an RSS feed for new products or specials. Not only would it be convenient for us, but poor Ati could finally get some sleep.
This is true! I actually wonder if Ati ever sleeps! :-D
Your right, I'm not inclined using some weird RSS feeds which could bring the site down, as unlikely as it might be. However, a proper feed would be absolutely great.
Maybe they could even use some sort of futuristic technology to notify people when their wishlist items went on sale, as well as when fast grab changes. And maybe send out daily emails when the new content goes up. I can't wait until technology is able to do those sorts of things.
p.s. Summer runtime dna and pc+ sales with new purchases. Sounds tempting but that whole "Aliens love Earth Girls" concept freaks me out.
The problem with this is how do you define "on sale". Take the two new summer sales, for example. Some wishlisted items I can get cheaper now, IF I buy something else with them. But when I look at their price in the shop, they are not on sale. So would you want to get notified, or not? And this is one of the less complicated sales now, DAZ sometimes has sales that I just can't figure out. :)))))
Truee, what I really want is for the store to actually update based on your cart, and for a filter that lets you sort by discount % so you can at least sort the store or wishlist that way. Timely daily and flash sale notifications would be a good start though, but then again the lack of all these things is saving me money so maybe we're better off in a world where they haven't been invented yet :)
Can anyone explain how the new "Summer Platinum" sale works? I get pages of items at normal prices so I expected that if I put one in my cart along with a new release, I would see a 60% discount. I don't.
Nope nor do I.
Despite what shows on trhe linked page, the sale is for PC+ items only. So, when the linked page comes up you have to check the PC only box to see the items that are acually on sale
Edited to add: now the linked page has been changed to only PC+ items; but bear in mind the ones with the green new tag are excluded.
It appears to work for Platinum Club items, not for anything else. Which is what it says on the homepage banner, but I don't understand why all the other items -- which don't receive a discount -- are included in the sale category.
... And they've just updated the banner and the category, and the category includes only PC+ items.
OK - now I see the updated pages. However, is this sale for non-PC members because they look like the usual PC+ prices to me as a member. Also, why - if the offer excludes New items, are they included in the sale pages?
This is a common feature of many sales. The terms say "Does not apply to new items", but they're always there.
I can think of two possible explanations.
I suspect that (2) is the case, but you never know.
No. I am a PC member and the PC price (except for new items) is reduced for me when the item is in my cart. For example an item that is $1.99 on the page is $0.80 in the cart.
The reason the category includes new items even though they are excluded from the sale is because if they created a special category without the new items, then anything which hits the 60-day mark between when they created the category and when the sale is live would be left out.
Ahh ... yes, I see.
Some of the Runtime DNA items don't seem to be crediting, while others stack. The Shahara head was about 40 or 50 cents for me, but the Golden Shahara Aging Head and the IGD Angeni didn't discount at all.
Angeni and Golden Shahara are new releases.
I found it quite convenient, actually. You have to buy a new release to trigger the discount, so why not a new PC+ release? It's all right there on one page. And you can trigger the discounts for as little as $2.09, if you're a PC+ member.
Jeez - I'm so dumb. I didn't think in terms of PC+ new releases, I thought it meant the featured new releases.
Not dumb... preconditioned to think "featured" new releases, perhaps. There are a lot of sales where it must be the featured new releases. But there are also a lot of sales where any "new" release will do. I've also seen sales that implied any new release was sufficient, but if the new release was no longer discounted, (after two weeks, I think,) it wouldn't trigger the discounts.
When in doubt, I always add the new release I'm interested in along with something from the sales category and see if the discount is applied. If not, I'll empty the cart... Unless I want the new release regardless of any other promotions, of course.
Ah! Thanks. I'd seen them at their old home so that didn't occur to me.
Lots of new stuff added to fastgrab.
Just noticed that some Runtime items marked New wll give you a stacking discount, like the Bad Attitude bundle. I'm now guessing the older items marked new are eligible.
You can add your own filters to the URL in this case #&filter_new=0&filtered=1
So you get: http://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-items#&filter_new=0&filtered=1
And nice stuff
Pro Tip: The Maps of the Empire (4,49) are included in the Vaulted Hall Library Bundle (7,49)
I triggered it with this week's PC+ freebie (which was also listed there). Super convenient. Shh, don't tell anyone.
I put Lucid Dreams in my cart, this week's 99¢-item-with-PC+-purchase, and it came up $0.00 with the discount. Remember, though, if you apply one of the monthly coupons, part of it will be applied to Lucid Dreams and you'll "lose" some of the coupon. In my case, that was 58¢.
Not anymore! They just changed it so the freebie no longer works as a trigger.
New Fast Grab is up.
