Can DAZ Studio 4X be installed on a drive other than the main PC drive? Will the installer give me the option where to put it, or just dump it on the C: drive and over-write the old installation? I want to try the new Studio version, but I don't want to blow away my older DAZ Studio install as a lot of plugins I use are not being updated as often as Studio so they are lagging behind.

Use the beta (which is actually a step ahead of the release build at the moment). You can't have two versions of the same build channel (release, public beta) at the same time. You can tell DIM or a stand-alone isntaller where to go, but they will still uninstall the previous version from the same channel.
I have version 4.8 and the public beta build side by side on my laptop a work just fine. Just make absolutely sure its the beta and not the general release.
I installed the 4.10 beta version and have been testing some of the plug-ins and scripts I use frequently. So far, no problems. I do have a question about running the beta with DS 4.8 installed, though. The beta seems to be using my existing library, and when I load something into the scene I see a "migrating xx of xx items" message. Are my files from my old library being converted or copied to a new location? I don't want to have a lot of duplicate library files..I'd rather have the beta use a custom library I create (using just new V8/M8 stuff). Also, when I downladed the beta I just unzipped the the file. I didn't need ton "install" anything...is that the way it's supposed to work?
Thanks all for your responses. Found the current BETA--will proceed as recommended.
If you haven't done so already, "purchase" it from the store: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta
The download instructions are on the product page.
