How does the software filter work?

I'm glad to see that we can now filter the products by software, but what does it mean? What's the difference between Daz Studio and Daz Studio 4.9?

I'm looking at fastgrab items for simplicity.

https://www.daz3d.com/yin-yang-for-xiao-mei-clothes was released in 2014, and is listed as only compatible with Daz Studio 4.9, not the general Daz Studio. I doubt that it requires DS4.9, since it was released way before it even came out.

https://www.daz3d.com/professional-video-camera This is only compatible with Daz Studio, and not Daz Studio 4.9. But as far as I can tell, it doesn't use any scripts or extra shaders that would make it not work in DS4.9.

So what's the difference between the two filter options?

The browser addon uses a software filter, too. Back then, I thought that since the compatible software field is likely just a text field, Daz just types in whatever they feel like at the moment, so anything that has Daz Studio in it got into my "DS compatible" filter setting. Right now the store natively lets us filter either Daz Studio, or Daz Studio 4.9, so it seems that there is a significant difference between the two -- or at least Daz thinks there is. But what is it? I can't figure it out.

  • Maybe... Because  the "Daz Studio" comes whit DSON Importer for Poser, while Daz 4.9 no Dson.

DSON Importer FOR Poser is a plug-in for Poser and is in the store for free.  I don't think it was ever included with Studio as Studio uses the DSON format as its native format.  I think if a product doesn't need a specific version of Studio the latest version is whats added, though simply DAZ Studio would be the less confusing and more accurate tag.  That camera product is not your typical product in that it comes in two formats, .cr2 and .obj, so maybe not the best example
