Simon , here some tips, when you render a figure against a sun light , in place to turn on the max if ISO to get  the light in the shadows it is better to use backlighting , simple primitive that will reflect the sun light back on the model so you can keep the background with the nice details and colors and not over expose it and you get  less noises, you can control the light power reflected by the plane by changing its diffuse color to gray or darker depends of your needs , that is how photographers do , also for full body use no more than 36mm focal length and if you use more DOF need to be ON thrn you ending with a perfect picture

Somewhere on the forums is a discussion with Mec4D about using a black and white image in the Normal Map parameter to create a pattern in the fabric. (Probably in the commercial thread for Vol. 2.) Here's an image I did with that technique and one of Vol. 2's fabric shaders. (You can do it with any of the new Satin shaders, though you can't use the textures at the same time...)

Gotcha - I think ... in effect a reflector to bounce some light back to show up front detail, yes?

So, changing to 35mm and adding a reflector from the Ultra Genesis light set (I know, I know, I cheated ... but wht have a dog and bark yourself, as they say! ) ...

Ironically if you had an actual Dragon with you at the time then you wouldn't have to worry about Tourists or Raccoons at all....... mind you the Police might have wanted to talk to you!  LOL  Still you've done an amazing job removing the people, I honestly wouldn't have thought there was any at all if you hadn't said you needed to clean them out.  Beautiful work as always.  laugh

The set looks great - and that first picture of the dragon lying on the rock looks absolutely amazing!

It is so much better already Simon, at last, the background, the reflector you used may be too small and direct the light in the wrong direction, just throw in a 6m plane, rotate it at 45 degrees vertically and it should catch it and reflect diffused light that matches the scene , Camera headlamps tend to make it more like a flash effect but simple plane works always great, this HDRI don't have sun it is soft box and the best light is on the opposite North side

Thanks, there was a lot of people and running kids, plus people on boats as well , it is middle of the season in New York City the most busy time for turists , I tried to use overlapping techniques that works fantastic on regular jpg panorama but with HDRI too much ghosting that need to be cleaned up after pixel by pixel and this last one was the worse to do that but so beautiful after , if not the buildings in the back it almost looks like 7 lakes  NY , I also shot some streets in the busy time on the way back and on the Upper West side where you walk by apartments of Robert de Niro or Denzel Washington , I came across an American actress Amy Smart , she just left an apartment going to Central Park while I was shoting the street , I was like, "hey I know you", she was like "They found Me " lol

I am still working on the freebie and I know it is late but so busy this week with everything, also I trying today new settings so you can replace your HDRI without changing or build new scene from zero and just replace the HDRI with your old scenes you already made before with a click on the button , this setting will not include camera information just Iray General and rendering settings with HDRI so I hope it will works for you better , I will be ready for late night .

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say it's more than fine that you take all the time you need on any freebies.  We're fans of your work and more importantly you yourself, not because of any treats we get from you.  Though I know they are always greatly appreciated.  So long as you are making enough time for yourself and you aren't exhausting yourself by being too busy (though it's easier said than done in todays world) it's not a problem for anyone to wait a little longer.

    Love and peace,

Isn't that coincidental.  Seeing you taking part in this long thread made me want to suggest a set of fabric shaders.  Now, the news that you're engaged (congratulations by the way) makes my suggestion doubly(sp?) relevant.  We need (desparately!) bridal fabric shaders.  I'm thinking about the various organzas (plain and shimmer), the numerous types of satins, bridal illusion (for veils), and tulle.  Then there's those intricate embellishments that where so popular on the overly ornate gowns in the 80's and 90's.    Interested?

Awwww, thank you so much, everyone! the love found me finally after long 10 years of not even searching or wanting but when the universe set a plan you can't get against it, but just accept and enjoy the beauty of it's meaning , with the most gentle and supporting soul on my side I will be only stronger, I must admit that my fiance helping me a lot with HDRI shots I made for you, driving me around and protect me and my equipment while shootings , finding special places and covering the trips and everything on top of his own job so a really great supporter and my right hand . We plan our wedding for the Spring 2018, it will be the second time for both of us but he wants to be my last ever ;) as Richard mentioned, the last Knight !  We are not perfect, but perfect for each other and I feel blessed.

Now time to get even harder at work and saving for our little wedding!

Below memory flyer of yesterday's unexpected ( so soon ) event smiley

    XOXO
