Sales bundles not so attractive IMHO

I'm new sure and I'm not aiming to rock the boat, just pass mt sentimints on based on my very limited budge constrained mind set

I got the ad for Gen 8 Pro pack for example

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/15caa7927beadcc7

The Victoria 8 base model sure, 3 hair packs can be handy 2 pose packs and a bunch of cloths

As a starter pack no mophs and cloths that many will not use

I wonder if its not a better style of sale to put out the Victoria 8 base body and line upa bunch of packs maybe 18  or 20 odd of a price ranges the same as the packs in the over all bundle and say tou maybe pick a number of these to make up your pack.

The reasoning behind this is simple money is really hard for me (I know, I'm not the only one) and I need to get use out of every pack I buy, so buying a bundle that has maybe a base item and ONE suit of gear I'd use is pointless and a waste of money IMHO, putting a bundle on sale with mostly stuff I'd not use is just not an attraction to me. As a starter bundle for a promtion of this Char:

https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-8

https://www.daz3d.com/voss-hair-for-genesis-3-8-female-s

https://www.daz3d.com/vertigo-ponytail-for-genesis-8-female-s

https://www.daz3d.com/fw-rebekah-hd-for-victoria-8 ;    to add some choice and variaty

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-body-morphs

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-head-morphs

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-expressions

would have added far more interest to me. Why? simple, the free Base Gen 8 download allows one to load a gen 8 Char but is quite limited, the clothing in the pack

offered while maybe it's nice allows for a very limited aray of options as far as I see it, while the above selection for me give me more to start off with and has more usablity over all. The following would make a better line upas choice oiptions to pick from

https://www.daz3d.com/throne-defender-armor-for-genesis-8-female-s  ; is the only colthing I'd use at this point, I'm into dark age fantasy

https://www.daz3d.com/andromeda-sci-fi-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s

https://www.daz3d.com/sci-fi-samurai-for-genesis-8-female-s

https://www.daz3d.com/boho-shorts-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s

I'm simply thinking Daz could maybe sell more if they offered a make you own sale bundle based on a bunch of choices they offer $94 is more like #150 for me so I need to be really pickie, and I wonder in fact if the compay even gives a second thought to the product value to their clients base on the clients localtion, yes your probley right they just simply DON'T care

Was jus a thought

For what it's worth, I agree. The present V8 starter bundle is...underwhelming to put it generously. I don't need (e.g.) a 'space' suit that won't even hold air, I need...I need face and body morphs; I need skin, makeup, and eye textures; I need utilities to convert poses, morphs, and figures, etc. from earlier generations. I need updates to existing utilities I bought, for instance the Eyebrow Remover, so I can continue to use them. Now, those would make a good starter bundle!

Backward compatibility is very much a relative term...

I know there's been a lot of crabbing & enthusiam elsewhere about the G8 figure. The only thing about it that really interests me is the PowerPose enhancements that (theoretically) allow me to create facial expressions I'd otherwise have to buy. Come on, Daz 3d, how about putting together some bundles that address the needs & wants of users who have plenty invested in your previous offerings?

You can use existing G3 textures on G4, so it's not critical to have native texture tools "right now"; and there are already tools that address the pose difference between them. Unfortunately, it may be some time before someone gets a "GenerationX" type plugin done, but I'm sure that will come. And, while the outfits might not be what you specifically wanted, DAZ sees them as being more important than the body morphs for general rendering purposes.

OK, scratch textures off my list, and thanks for the correction. I haven't spent much time playing with G8, and I only broke down & bought the Face and Body Morphs a couple of days ago, but I still think the OP's point is valid.

As a (very) recent 3D enthusiast, I've never witnessed a previous generation of anything supplanted by the latest & greatest. If this G8 rollout is an example of how it's usually done, I think it could stand improving.

Sure, PAs have to eat--and they damned well deserve to--but I'm a little dismayed by the obvious calculation involved.

I think DAZ has a tough job, to be honest. It can't be easy to find the optimal selection of products to make as many customers as possible happy with the bundles they create. I don't think I've seen any character base release that had a bundle selection that every potential customer was happy with, including the characters included in it.

Yes, absolutely, and I understand the need to make money--both for DAZ 3D and its hard-working content providers. I certainly don't begrudge it, since I got DS for free where I would have had to cough up a fair chunk of change for some of the alternatives. Still, seeing what's offered in the introductory bundles, I kind of resent what's obviously needed but missing.

@Daywalker03  Do you not think sales would improve a lot of clients ahd a choice a number of item fro a large batch to chooose from, Daz would still get the same value and people would get a more usefule selection that suited them, makes it easier for Daz too, they don't have to work so hard at putting the bundles together

  • Hello Kiwi-Hawk,

I understand what you're saying, and will say that DAZ does periodically have Build Your Own Bundle promotions; the reason they don't have that as a constant is because they want to have the anatomical elements for the base adult figures available for those that want them and not have to contend with odd government regulations pertaining to adult novelty products.

I really don't understand how setting up a bunch of 20 30 products as choice's for the user to pick say 6 or 8 or how ever many products Daz wants to put in the sales bundle effects a Gov regulation, these products are allready up for selling so just doing the I like that one thing does not change anything. All it's doing is giving the user a bigger range and some choice, rather than have Daz make a bundle of low selling stuff people probley don't use to make it generate income because it won't sell on it's own. A char is going to be a point of interest to most users, so take a great and lot well selling char and make a bundel up of a lot of low selling add-ons put it with the great char and you gain an income from something peopl don't want. All I'm saying is put the bundle up for dale and let us the user pick from the allow-able stock which products make up our bundle. The only differenc is WE pick the products not Daz, Daz just put out a selection for us to choose from
