Loving Power Pose! I just updated and got the expression interface. While that is what has been hightlighted, the general body posing interface is also really easy to use. I only hope that the new clothing and hair models also make use of this tech. It would be awesome to just move the hair as needed instead of trying to do reshaping for everything.
Powerage. On Rendo. This moring.
Of course most of the morphs seem to just give the figure a bigger butt. But the seated spread and flatten against a wall morphs are there.
I also really like the new series of Genesis 8 characters.
Thanks to the newly released scripts - https://www.daz3d.com/bone-doctor-pose-control
applying Genesis 3 Female poses to Genesis 8 Female is as simple as it should be.
One just need to apply Genesis 3 Female pose to Genesis 8 character and then run a script to fix the pose.
Below are the iray renders of https://www.daz3d.com/fw-rebekah-hd-for-victoria-8
with Daz Studio default lights.
Greetings,
I said it in another thread, but I really want to reiterate it here; the power pose expressions control is AMAZING. Subtle expressions that I agonized over to get in G3F and before are a breeze. I haven't even had the chance to check out the muscle bending morphs (although the tight calf muscle in high-heel poses is another thing I've agonized over getting right!) but I'm really glad they did it.
Also my G3F and G2F clothes seem to be transferring over without a hitch so far, so I'm stoked!

V8 renders really well right out of the box. I personally think V7 is prettier; however V8 is more realistic and certainly not "ugly.." Future character morphs should bring a lot of variety and I can't wait to see what our talented PAs will come up with. V8's expressions are leaps and bounds better than prior generations, so that will be fun to play with as well. I'm excited that we have so many choices in generation, and characters, etc. Thanks for the pro bundle deals, Daz!
I shouldn't expect to see everything from every generation duplicated each time. I have four arms and many similar items for that generaiton -they still work just fine. I look forward to the new things we havent imagined yet.
Hard to decide especially when the same cheerleaders hoorah. Maybe I am nuts to expect a realistic character and expect I I can actually use for 2D graphics. I have a gaming license but I will not be waking it up for this. If it can't cut/survive the print platform it's a no go for me. There comes a time to say, thanks but no thanks and for me, this is one of those times.
She seems more than realistic enough for 2d graphics to me. Im not sure what has you so upset.
the negativity stops when we start getting scripts and solutions
in my case mostly getting into apps I use
and being able to use animation files
I use Genesis 3 now I can get them into Carrara but there is still much work to be done about inter app compatibility, with Poser, iClone and others too things like HD morphs and geografts.
That said getting Genesis 8 F to iClone was relatively painless
Carrara not possible yet
Seen people have succeeded going to Poser
the second issue has yet to be fully addressed for Genesis 3 let alone 8
it is odd as I can animate both outside of DAZ studio, the retargetted bvh files load on Poser conversations in Poser.
I want to love her
if I do my money shall follow
but she needs to be more than a pretty fashion model posing in DAZ studio for still renders to get my love and money.
There were comments posted in other threads about G8F not working in previous versions of DAZ Studio. While I don't doubt that some of the features of the figure are not supported in older versions of DS, I haven't spent enough time with the figure to say what does or does not work. However, I can say a few things about all that, having an old machine here running DS 4.6, and my main machine still running the last general release. Firstly, somewhat ironically, G8F loads seamlessly without a hitch in 4.6, while in 4.9.3.166 she loads with an error message saying that the figure is not supported in that version of DAZ Studio. Nevertheless, she loads anyway. Perhaps its an Iray thing. Anyway, she does load and is useable. I'm not certain what happens with the Iray materials since I didn't try any renders yet, but I would expect some tweaking may be necessary - we'll see. Since she does come with 3Delight materials I'm certain that if worst comes to worst a conversion would be possible. I 'm not one of those hung up on "photoreal", so for what its worth, here are a few renders of what she looks like using 3Delight in ancient DS 4.6. (I only did the attachments so not to spam the thread with three huge "in body" images). I rather like her look.
BTW, the third image is using a G3F texture and dress, and a V4 hair.
.
Geografts are figure specific. I can't, for example, mix four arms with Centaur because they are different figures.
I realize a large segment of the customers have fairly mild interest in mixing figures, but a bunch of us are the ones buying creatures and other similar stuff. And mixing figures is a big part of that.
Some of the initial wave of G8 content is very nice indeed!
I have to agree. Of all the Victorias I was most attached to Victoria 4. I didn't dislike the others. I just didn't have a strong interest in them. And I was so sick of seeing Victoria 7 plastered everywhere. But Victoria 8 really catches my attention. I just really dig her look.
I like her too. To me she is an evolution of G3F rather than a revolution. The enhanced PowerPose for facila expressions is a nice feature. Overall a good addition to my figure library. Here is my first attempt at a slight customized Victoria 3 portrait.
Ciao

I'm clearly doing something wrong here. When I render V8 her skin looks dull, false & lifeless. I'm really disappointed. I love the powerpose, especially when creating expression - but both preview & spot render iray look horrible. I feel I've just wasted $97.47 on this pro edition. Unless someone can clue me in on some hidden secret - I'm just going to have to accept I lost money & avoid all future G8 products & stick with G3 I guess. SO disappointed!
well, a few of us posted our renders. I don't think she looks the way you describe. Is it maybe a matter of lighting?
Love the technical improvements in Genesis 8. Had a little extra time this morning to play around with some of my new toys finally and this is what I came up with. THe facial expression was done in the new powerpose interface and the body pose is an adapted one from one of the Victoria 7 pose bundles. Also used were various glothing items from Genesis 3 ( adventure girl outfit, FM tank tops, and Jeanz) Added to that the Perrin Hair and the Morningstar Wings as other new toys. The rock prop was an older prop by Jack Tomalin that I tossed some Iray shaders on and the sky is just the base iray sky from default render settings with Stonemasons Iray Clouds to break it up a bit.
Very happy with the new figure. I cant wait for the male version!
@timmins.william "It means I'm never going to see four arms for Genesis 3"
Given the kinds of products RawArt, Josh Crockett, Sixus1 Media, and others put out, I can only conclude that the perceived market was limited to one.
Actually Will, there are enough similarities with G3, that the hoped-for esoteric products could become part of either; there is a lot of crossover.
The big problem is geografting.
I've been thinking I may want to try doing more with parented objects like the old days so that items can work on ANY figure.
Like the older method of doing centaurs; you can't get the elegant skins and effects of, say, the Alpha Centaur, but you can then mix a lot more freely.
Victoria 8 - I like her, too.
Post a picture and/or worst case get a refund. No use to waste money if it doesn't work for you!
Latest render. She is easily my favorite generation of figure yet.
The more I use this figure and morph her the more I fall in love. I especially love how DAZ removed the useless nail bed geometry, and welded the fingernail and toenail geometry to the figure. They kept a bit of geometry under the nail tip which is absolutely what they should have done. Goodbye to those endless hours of shaping nail beds so the geometry doesn't protude through nail geometry and cause hot pixels in Octane. Now shaping fingernails and toenails are a breeze. She bends even better than Gen 3, and her facial expression detail is fantastic!! I would put a DAZ Gen 8/V8 up against any of the so called $600.00 and above professional figures found on other sites! DAZ has a huge winner here. I can't wait to see the HD morphs...I think we are well on the way to hyper realism.
Thanks again DAZ!!
Funny, I prefer a complete nail bed. Heh.
I agree wholeheartedly with the thread's subject line. Genesis 8 is very nice. I've only loaded her up once and did a quick render but loved what I saw. And no hassles loading Genesis 3 clothing, hair or textures. I have to admit I hated Victoria 7 and any of her derivatives. They all looked the same to me and I thought it looked like a bus had run into V7's face. She was so odd and unnatural looking. Genesis 8 and V8 look much more natural. Congrats DAZ!
HUGE apologies to all. OMG I'm such a tool! I used RSL mat in Iray.....more than once!! But a good night's sleep & a brain reboot, now all seems as it should be. I'm such a fool, but not stupid enough not to admit my mistakes.
Thanks Ademnus - lights were not at fault (this time) but my lighting certainly does need some work. Render settings too, I think.
I'm on a low end Mac so render times even on G7 can be rough but I accept that G8 has great detail. Partial render enclosed of a quick test I did this morning.
Thanks all for your feedback & apologies again for earlier comments.
Personally, I'm finding the G8F facial abilities amazing. Some of the most realistic looking smiles I've seen in a 3D render. Loving her so far.
J cade: just the usual preferred/minority market thing.
Im interested in figures that might not have nails at all, but most people will, so majority rules.
