I really love Genesis 8!

AdemnusAdemnus Posts: 744

First, I have to say ... I KNEW IT! I sensed that we had gotten all we were going to get for g3 and I ALMOST came to the forums to say, "anyone think we'll see the new genesis soon?" And then WHAMMO here it is! LOL I also thought literally the other day how cool it would be to see muscles move as we posed parts but thought, no point in suggesting it becasue who would really do that? YOU DID!

Thank you, trying my first renders now and loving her. Cannot wait for the Male.

Now, a question.. why did you call it G8? It's G4... I get that we had Vikki 7 so now we'd get Vikki 8 but Genesis 8? oddness. Anyway you could call it Mathilda -I'd still love it. Great work guys!

I do too! I'm having a lot of fun with her and I've already starting making a new product for her. I can't wait for the new 8s to start rolling in. The only thing that disappoints me is that they never did a Stephanie 7. But maybe we'll get a Stephanie 8 instead!

And they're doggedly determined never to give us a cute young David 7, for some reason. But hey, whatever -G3 was really good, the best yet. I look forward to the crypticlaly named G8 series ;)

I know! Where did David go?? Come to think of it, V8 actually looks like David's sister, don't you think?

It's Genesis 8 because people were getting confused with Genesis 1 / Victoria 5, Genesis 2 / Victoria 6, etc.  Since the new version of Vic and Mike are going to be 8, they upped Genesis' number to 8 as well.

I've spent the day playing with G8F and V8. She's great! I love her and am welcoming her to the "family." I use just about every generation (that's available) for something and am more than happy to throw G8 into the mix.

Actually, i think Sunny 7 was your Stephanie

I know, the truth is, it's just a name. The whole figure is different each generation and the look is unique each version -but they know we live for it, so use them lol

Exactly...I see no reason why me using G8 will stop me from using G1 through G3. I SHOULD have waited to get V8, but a nice work bonus convinced me otherwise. Just briefly played with her and Serum3D's new Hazel. I really like what I'm seeing and since I tend to throw my money at the Daz men more than the women, I'm anxious to see what Michael 8 will bring our way. But yeah, I'm not going to stop using my other figures either. I have fun with all of them. ;)

Thanks for starting a thread that isn't full of complaints.  The negativity was really starting to drag me down.

  • I am not sure it will even render G3/V7 obsolete. Less common for sure, but not necessarily obselete. The Genesis figures still have not rendered Generation 4 figures obselete (in fact I am not sure Generation 3 characters are entirely obselete yet). New content still comes out for Generation 4, granted not on here persay (unless otherwise attached to a later genesis character) but there are still creators who are loyal to specific base characters and I see nothing changing in that aspect for G3/V7 just because G8/V8 came out. I personally use Generation 4 characters for everything I do, mostly due to budget constraints but also because I like using the characters and I'm familiar with them. That doesn't stop me from playing with new generations or from being curious and interested to see what can be done with them. V8 and her corresponding Genesis base have some intersting prospects and I do look forward to seeing what the future & content creators bring to the table for her.

I really love Generation 8 female as well. I think she is my favorite Victoria to date. I particularly love her expressions and the long eye shape. I really love her look. she rocks.

I finally have all of my G3 stuff I need and a current project to work on so G8 will not make anything I do obsolete. I just bought some V4/M4 and still buy G1 and G2 items. I mix and match in a lot of my renders and I suppose you could say I "kitbash" my figures. I am really looking forward to the "even newer and more exciting" things G8 will bring us during the rest of the year and beyond. My "work" splits several ways and G8 will be a good direction to head and for some older products will do better. I am always most happiest when "clothes" can be share across Generations as I love to "kitbash" nearly every outfit and piece of gear my figures wear! The G8 discount lasts a week so I will prolly see what gets released and then take it slow as I work on my project. September/October/November sales will be here soon enough!

I did a quick test using the latest SkinBuilder product for G3f. It worked as I expected. I had to build the skin on G3, save as a material preset, then apply to G8. Only took about 2 minutes longer than just creating for G3. It seems Ive lost very little in content. Poses for G3 can be used easily with a roation on each of the upper arms. Very minor onconvenience. Hand poses for G3 wor as does the pose builder. I just have to make the correction to the upper arm rotation. G1, G2 and G3 content that I have tried have all worked great except the stilleto heels. Even G1  boots with moderate heels did good. I've even used V4 hair and the morphs all worked. I have to say I'm very happy. Oh, did i mention its SO nice to have expressions that DONT deform the whole face into something alien looking?

On a side note, my renders are only taking about 12 minutes to complete and I'm doing them on a laptop. It would seem that with the Daz Studio Iray upgrade, my render times have gone down considerably!

So far the new generation seems nice, the whole short time I've been able to check her out when not at work, but want to play with her more tomorrow.

Well looks like I am going to have to eat my negative words and say that this will be, the first time since buying into Genesis 2 that I plan on going full tilt into Genesis 8.. And what did that was the much improved Powerpose, and looking at what the facial pose setup can do has hooked me big time so Genesis 8 here I come.. :) lol

Definitely play around with the Genesis 8 base figure before deciding. I've not purchased any of the G8 content yet - but I'm having fun creating morphs (or trying to lol) for the base figure.

Though after playing with the base figure, I'm definitely leaning toward purchasing V8 and probably the face and body morphs.

I am enjoying Genesis 8 as well, I still use all Genesis versions. I think a new figure adds more options instead of taking them away. And Victoria 8 is very sophisticated. I`m excited for things to come. yes

Yeah after seeing how much cash I have and how much it will cost me even with all the discounts it is going to cost me about $90 AUD for the pro pack and the two morph packs and well would send me broke.. So yeah going to get the morph packs first and work from there over time, one big bummer in all this I had used my PC+ coupons already.. :(

My pleasure. I think it's wonderful and you guys do such great work. Sending a virtual spritzy cocktail and hug to all who work so hard to make DAZ the addictive, fun, and useful success it is. Much love and repsect, gang.

I've been critical in the past about something that was introduced.

But this I couldn't understand; I mean how did it affect what we've bought?

I'd already used mine too, the day before G8 was released. Oh well. :)

I'm loving G8 too. I know she's not as totally backwards compatible as we'd all dream of her being and that she'll need further products to make her as versatile as her predecessors, but I don't think there's ever been a base figure released that you could do so much with without having to spend any additional money, provided you've already got clothes and mats etc from previous versions. I especially love her expressions.

I haven't bought V8 yet, but no doubt will do so sooner or later. Since G8 has it all without her (except the gens in the Pro version), she's just another pretty face to me. She's a more 'real' pretty face than her glamour-girl older sisters though, and I like her for that more. I'm not seeing the 'manly' qualities in her face at all that others talk of seeing. Perhaps they're seeing that because the glamour-girl thing has become the norm around here and anything less is perceived as unfeminine. Never mind. If Michael 8 turns out to look at all like Michael 7 then I expect he'll make up for any lack of feminity in the new generation :)

  • I use every generation, since I've come to find they each bring something to the table, and I have to say, I am loving Genesis 8 so far. I also echo Astracadia and that I'm happy V8 looks like an actual/"real" pretty face and not hyper glam Barbie doll. That's a huge plus in my book, haha.

Can't wait to see what Genesis 8 is capable of, especially for future characters and morphs.

I did a couple of experiments with the muscle flex feature, and am now very much looking forward to G8M!  (use the builtin bodybuilder morph to make things obvious.  Bend forearm.  Watch upper arm.  Then _twist_ the forearm, and watch the upper arm)

This is stupid behavior and I have already removed the dependency of bicep flexion on shoulder twist in my copy of G8F. Actually, bicep flexion depends on the torque applied to the forearm and angle between forearm and shoulder, shoulder twist angle has nothing to do with it.

I love it too. Also, I am so happy to see the default pose has the arms lowered. I suspect this will make how clothing sits on them while posed look a lot better around the shoulders.

Now what I want to see next? I want to see the flesh compress when placed against an object with collision. Sit in a chair? The butt flattens to the seat and the chair back psuhses against the mdoel's back.

+1 but in realtime, collisions (no calculations like poser)  can't wait for the dynamics & softbodies, second part 2017

It means I'm never going to see four arms for Genesis 3, or countless other products PAs will never have the space to get around to.

If you think it stinks to read the complaints, imagine how much it stinks to HAVE them.
