All thumbnails I've tried pop a 404 no matter the page the thumb is on. ALL of them.
Last night only a few of them did. But it was fixed by 3AM EST. Tonite it's everything and no fix yet (almost 4AM here now).
Did you try logging out and testing the links as mentioned above? More info provided to Daz the better?
Things seem to work better now!
someone suggested trying a forward slash added to the rnd of the URL
or opening in a new window
or opening a private or icognito window
I can't test this out, as I have yet to get a 404
It is entirely possibly based on user group -- that is, you're a part of staff, and your user group is different, so access may be granted on that basis as well.
Not logged-in users? See OK.
I do not know about other users, but right now I'm one of those 3 months at a time PC club member, so if that has a diff user group from, say, one-year around member?
Also, if a forward-slash "fixes" the problem, then the problem is with URLs (or the script that creates the URL, or system that generates URLs based on your login status), since most http servers tend to get persnikety when there's a / in URL and there really shouldn't be.
Anyway, it would be sweet and nice to know if the team has stabbed the problem for realsies or if it is like "cloud problem, hadn't finished mirroring" or whatever. :)
No this is affecting all groups from time to time, even real staff. they were actually aware and working on it before the mods logged in the problem.
Whispering I think the reason I am not affected is that so far I haven't bought anything in MM.
OH! Well that actually might do it too!
Ok, for some reason, it helped to log out, reset the password and then log in back again. I'm now not seeing any 404 errors no more...
There should be no need at all to do something like this. Changing the password would not affect the ability to display an image.
We're looking into why soe 404's got cached, and ensuring it doesn't happen further. In the meantime, a couple of things to try:
- Use a "hard" refresh (hold down shift while you refresh the product page.)
- Try uising another browser.
Either of those tends to resolve the fact tha your local computer has a 404 cached for the page.
I've been recommending Shift+Ctrl+R to do a hard refresh (that works in FF)
