  • Here you can see that it's creating doubles for some of them

  • I guess that there is some comfort in knowing that I'm not alone (I guess). Wouldn't it be nice it things just worked though. After all this time you'd think they'd be able to sort out the installation of their own products at least and make some sense of it to the end user without making it so voodoo esoteric mumbo jumbo. Also, I've managed to sort out some assets that are in Connect that I can get to from Content Library though it is somewhat tough going as you often have to know who's made the thing rather that what it's called.

But I discovered something else that's related that I just noticed. I hadn't tried using Bethany or any of the pro bundle stuff and I have a character that I thought I might use her skin on but in Smart Content she's not there and in Content Library she's not there in My Library or Connect (cloud really, that mass of seemingly random numbered directories that each seem to be it's own library.) Anyway I can do a search in file manager of the cloud directory and locate Bethany7 but unfortunately that doesn't really help me because there are so many numbered sub-directories she could be in that I could browse for hours and never find her.

It eludes me how something that I paid for and installed can't be found by either content management system.

  • And I just tried to use Kalea 7's skin and it doesn't exist either even it clearly should be there. This time I can't locate it in My Library with a file manager but I can locate it (sort of - I can tell it is there in a general sense anyway) in My Daz Connect Library\cloud\data\whatever of the myriad numbered subdirectories it might be in that search doesn't specify. Will Windows never understand the difference between finding it and locating it? I suspect I might be able to load the whole of Kalea into the scene because there is an icon for that that worked from Content Library, but that isn't what I want. I want access to the individual assets. That's why I bought all this crap in the first place after all, essentially they're a force multiplier.

You aren't meant to go to the cloud folder - the content is (or should be) accessible through the database views (Smart Content and the products and Categories trees in Content Library) and in the DAZ Connect virtual folder immediately un Daz Studio Formats (and another under Poser Formats) in Content Library - the Daz Connect virtual folder gives an amalgamated view of all those numbered sub-folders in the cloud folder.

  • I just managed to realize that Content Library will tell you where assets are installed. Who knew? Anyway I discovered after looking that in My Library there are a whole range of characters, core characters all installed in C:\Users\Havok\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\People\Genesis 3 Female\Materials. Now I'm talking Aiko 7, Arabella 7, Bethany 7, Eva 7, Genevieve 7, Gia 7, Girl 7, Izabella 7, Kalea 7, Karen 7, Lilith 7, Mei Lin 7, Monique 7, Olympia 7, Rune 7, Sunny 7, Teen Josie 7, Victoria 7. Virtually all the core characters. They show up in Smart Content, mostly but when I try to load 'em I'm told that the files don't exist. So now what I suspect is that for some reason Studio decided to install them there arbitrarily and can't look for them there despite the fact that (clearly) it knows exactly where it is located. It might also explain why I have to go into my Content Library just to load the default Genesis 3 figure - that's the only place the icon shows up, in the main Characters folder yet not in Smart Content.

What I'm going to try to do is copy over the data from those directories and see if they'll load after a refresh. Who knows, maybe I can outsmart Smart Content?

  • Those are the correct locations - they are material files, not shaping files (you should have full materials and shape settings in the People/Genesis 3 Female/Character folder).

  • Yep, I agree totally. Except I verified that I didn't have any files of those core characters and one other I forgot to list plus a couple of randoms. The whole of the thing for each was in materials instead of characters. If I compared what was in something I could load to something I couldn't find that was the difference. When I copied (didn't try just moving) the directories and did a refresh, then while they still didn't show up in Smart Content I could at least access them in Content Library, which was 100% more than I was able to do previously. Now I have to do something similar for pose sets I have a similar problem with, once I sort out what kind of dog's breakfast Studio has made of it.

  • If they were not showing up in DAZ Studio formats when under the materials folder then something is wrong with your paths in DS.

  • Did you have found the problem ?

I'm quite confuse with all the text in English (i'm french ;-) ).

I have error message and i don't know what to do. I have problem with Victoria 4.2 and Hiro 4, and some others too.

    Could you help ?

    Thanks in advance

  • That means the content is not installed correctly. How did you install - with the Install Manager?

  • That means the content is not installed correctly. How did you install - with the Install Manager?

    yes with the Install Manager.

I even uninstall and re-install after and same thing, same error with the warning icon on the image of the product.

I have same problem some other products, but not all !!! It is very strange.

I even read that normally, when you install Victoria 4, we could found the DAZ people Victoria into the file Content Library of Poser (My Library). But i don't see installed.

So, i'm thinking about that is that my path of the files are correct or not (see attached file 1).

I put also to show you that i can see Victoria 4.2 into the list of Products (see attached file 2).

Thanks in advance for your help.
