Watching something transfer to a usb drive gets boring so at least this barnes and noble has free wifi and free water so I can try to browse the web while waiting for it to finish.

What you need is a supervillain chasing you. USB transfers always finish 0.5 seconds before the bad guy arrives!

...actually had some Donner und Blitz yesterday along with a torrential hailstorm that left everything coated in white for a while.

Had to shutdown the computers for a fair bit of the afternoon until it was all over as a few of the lightning strikes were pretty close.

Surprisingly a little warmer today (low 60s) than the past couple days bot still showery with a few sunbreaks now & then.  Finally a nice warm up in store later in the week, 70s to the mid 80s

One of the email providers that I use will terminate their free email service.  Now I need to update my email address in all the accounts that reference that free email service.  I have owned this address since late 2005 or January of 2006.

Oh no! surprise I have no chocolate chips.  Oh, wait..., I do have a chocolate bar in the freezer.  I could just whack it with a hammer and make my own chocolate chips. enlightened  Yes!  That will do and I'll chortle in my joy.

Non-complaint:  A few weeks ago I got an advertisement from my landline phone/internet-DSL company saying that for no fee or extra monthly cost they could increase my internet speed by 10 times. surprise  I read all the fine print and could find no "gotcha" clause so I called them and scheduled an appointment.  I had to wait about 5 weeks but today the man came, assigned me two phone lines to the house, drilled new holes in my wall and relocated my indoor wall connector to someplace that was not 30 feet away from my computersyes, gave me a new wireless modem, and increased my Internet speed from a measured 12Mb/sec to 95 Mb/sec. cool  Over DSL no less! Yea!  It's not 10 times the speed but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.   Apparently the technology is that they run two phone lines from the local sub-station each carrying part of the DSL bandwidth and use a special modem to combine it back into one channel inside the house.  Now, I need to find someway to fill up all that bandwidth!!!! devil

I wonder...if something happens to one of those lines, will you have missing packets all the time until it's fixed?

I asked him.  He says I'd just experience a reduction in bandwidth.

Not really special for me - I always dress like that.

  • Today's complaint as I wind down my work day... critical thinking skills are going the way of the dodo.  No one wants to take the two minutes needed to actually figure out the problem and the solution.  Much easier to just forward the email to someone else and let it go in circles for a while.

    The name is Fastmail.fm

I am not going to spend $30 to upgrade my account to keep my email address.  I hardly use it for actual conversations anyways.

I actually wonder if there are many people left who can think critically.  Or think at all.  Many things happening around and in the news tend to confirm the opposite these says.
