I agree, very lifelike and difficult to spot that its not a real person.  Nicely done!

    @Ice Dragon Art

Thank you. These were just quick test renders to see how they looked and the character was just thrown together with what I had available to make her look 'ordinary' smiley. I didn't do anything special to her except pose the bottom of the skirt and tidy up the arms in the sitting pose as they were going through the skirt at her knees. I also reposed the hands in the walking pose as they were stiff and straight which looked unnatural.

Here is a few more in the series.

This one feels like it is coming straight out of real sky, the clarity of the shuttlecraft vs the background really makes it stand out nicely. Love the clouds!

I thought it might be too sharp but as it was only a test of the cloud picture, and to see if I could get Lunar rings around the Moon, I just left it.

Ick, those flies look real lol!  I guess that a great compliment on the realism anyway!

Love the Crystal dragon with the clouds, especially the dark and stormy ones,  I wonder if those crystals would attract lightning....

Perhaps the do look better without the flies :)

Perhaps this is a little bit more dainty though.

While checking through those images I came across this which you might find interesting. It is a well preserved Viking/Norse Mill where the water wheel is horizontal rather than verticle. You can see the Millstones lying around it.

I've been away for a while and had an external hard drive enclosure fail with my library on it. I'm just getting everything sorted out at the moment. 3000 products take a long while to download on a slow connection that keeps throwing me off every so often :)

Meanwhile I managed to get an old render loaded and redid some of the skin textures, lighting and face morphs.

Ack, I'm dealing with an external hard drive failure as well!  And it was only 7 months old.  Still have one or two things to try before giving up though.  Just not happy about it at all.

and your gyypsy is lovely, love the headscarf

These are gorgeous.  Although in all honesty the flies are probably more realistic lol.  Love the single flower with the DOF.  Just gorgeous!

Also, a very cool ruin.  I love old places like that.  Maybe one of these days I will have the money to travel and see some of the truly ancient ruins.

Sorry about your external drive issues, must be very frustrating.

I love your crystal dragon renders.  Don't know what, if anything, you did to the crystals, but love that they show up and do look like crystal with light going through the spikes.  I noticed a lot of renders make the crystals look plastic rather than like crystal.

Great little animation there!  I bet it took an incredible amount of work.

  • FishtalesFishtales Posts: 6,043

    @Worlds_Edge

I ordered a new enclosure and all back to normal.

I used Iray Crystal shaders on the spikes.

The animation probably took longer to render than it took to set up although I did two pre-renders without the Ogre too before that finished one. The Ogre took longer to position so that the hand looked like it had struck the mans face :)

There was a discussion about Gamma and how it affected images and renders in Studio so I did a few experiments.

The renders are using an image in the Environment/Backdrop from the Menu not the Dome.

In render #1 I set the Gamma for the image in LIE to 0.00.

In render #2 it is set to 1.00 which is what it loads with.

In render #3 I set the Gamma to 2.2.

The Gamma in Studio under Tone Mapping I left at the default 2.2. Changing this to anything else alterrs the whole render not just the Backplate image.

I don't know what you think but I prefer #1 and #3 and feel #2 is washed out. This is obviously a personal thing and is no way scientific :)

Another discussion was about DOF and during my experiments I found that the camera scale has to be set at 100% or it causes the DOF to act wrong.

Image#1 is set at 100% and Image #2 is at 50% the rest of the settings are the same.

For the gamma test, I like #2 and #3 best, although I agree #2 looks washed out.  Something between the two might be perfect.  I don't know, it almost feels like they might have been taken at two different times of the day, or the sun was shining too strongly on the day #2 was taken.

I got the new Lamh Catalyzer and did a few experiments with it. It doesn't like any more than four of them in a blank scene or it crashes my Studio. I tried that intentionally to see how many I could get. The squirrels crash the scene if there are more than two and you try to move one, that goes for any other animal that is in the scene not just another squirrel :)

Getting away from the furry things for a bit. I also fly fish and I used the fly making set (it is in his store) from @Totte in these scenes. That is how the end of my computer desk looks although not as tidy :)

    Nice one!
And it's not in any store any more (as YUR closed down and I haven't found somewhere to put it up). Those who have it are an exclusive group ;-)

    And very nice work ;-)

Fun with squirrels I see lol.  I managed to render the wolf, as long as I loaded him and posed him first then built the scene around him.  Otherwise, it crashed.  I keep trying to find the script AM posted but the link just keeps taking me to his blog and no link
