Duplicating items

I am using Chanoyu in DS3D 4.9. I need to duplicate some f the items like pillows fo rthe scene. When I drag extra ones on to the scene, I can't find them. They do not appear in the scene tab. How do I locate them?

Ususally any objects you drag into the scene will go to it's default location so they are all probably in the exact same spot and hence look like one item. Also possible that by dragging them in, they are getting parented to some object and hence they are indented under that item and not visible in the scene tab. You might try double clicking the item in the library rather than dragging and dropping.  Not sure.

However, if all you want is to have identical copies of something (including materials) it's actually much better to place just one in the scene, select that item and then go to the "Create" menu and create an instance (for one) or instances (for several). They take a lot less memory and add no textures so it's much more efficient on youy system.

Thanks Grinch2901. If I use instances can I move the items independently to various places?

Yes, they act exactly like any other object except they have the same material settings / textures as the original item and can only be changed by changing them on the  original object.
