Hi,

in the product specifications of "Joline for Genesis 3" there are materials options

  • SSS 4.8 iRay
  • SSS 4.9 iRay

What is the difference?
Is this the reason that for example the skins of Tween Ryan and Max appear totally different / way darker (with DAZ 4.9) compared to the product promos and many other G3 characters?

  • There was a bug fix in the version of Iray included in DS 4.9 that affected the way one SSS setting behaved, so materials that used the property behaved differently. Not every character set is affected.

Fixes made to the implementation of Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) in the NVIDIA Iray renderer affect materials which have "Translucency Weight" active—not set to 0. This manifests in skin tones appearing more blue than they do in 4.8. A quick adjustment that can be made during the BETA phase is to adjust the "SSS Reflectance Tint" from a light blue to a light yellow—R: 1.00, G: 0.88, B: 0.67. Adjust this value to your liking.
