Jepe's Jonah M4

According to the documentation ( http://www.daz3d.com/jepes-jonah-m4 ), this product is compatible with Genesis 2 Male but requires "Genesis Starter Essentials" ( http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-starter-essentials ) and "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male" ( http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male ). I have both of these products installed but when I try to apply the morphs to a G2M character, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

In most cases you will need to open the original product and it's various presets & such in DSF and what-not formats using the originally intended model and save that preset in the new DUF format in most cases.

There is at least one product in the DAZ Store that batch converts all DSF files into DUF files but I don't remember the name. Like you I have a lot of old products I'd like to convert from DSF to DUF format.

  • Thank you for your reply. Exactly how do I do this part ...

using the originally intended model and save that preset in the new DUF format in most cases.

Well I can't tell you exactly but basically you open M4 or V4 and apply the clothing piece or materiel piece that is failing (dsf format) and then in the Scene tab select the item you want to have in the new DUF format and in the DAZ Studio menu near top left Save As... then choose material preset, character preset, wearable preset, shader preset and so on.

You probably when you save your new presets create a root folder with your avatar or real name in the default sub folder location Presets that DAZ Studio will choose for you and then you should in the new sub folder you created create sub folders to further organize your new updated DUF format presets by G2F, G2M, G3M, G3F, and then by PA name and then Product Name.

so not exact but best I can remember while my computer spends the next two days doing an irate render

  • It's actually the face pre-set that I am trying to save and then apply that face to a G2M character.

I have that product but I thought it was made just so M4 clothing can be worn by G2M and I've a render in my gallery called Barn Etiquette #VR where I convert MR clothing to G2M save as/export as a FigureProp and then use that saved file on G3M.

If you mean the expression or the texture set or a set of morphs that create a character. Of those you need a separate product to convert the old preset to the new character and even then I'm not sure if you are trying to copy expressions that a products if available to do that. To get the M4 Face on G2M you need a product called something like Michael 4 Shape for Genesis 2 Male or the Genesis X2 product and it's suite of addons will do that for you.

if I wasn't typing on  3.5" iPhone screen I'd find it for you now.

if I am wrong someone correct me.

Only the Material Presets are compatible with Genesis and G2M, not the morphs.  To transfer the morphs you also need http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 and http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
