I hope everything is good with you, and hopefully your work studio is not flooded, or in ruins.

 

You emerged unscathed from the 2011 quake, so I am confident we will hear from you shortly after this event as well, but man, a Tsunami; I pray that you and yours are safe and dry.

    Glad Stonemason is OK.

    A 7.8 mag earthquake is pretty damn serious. So far it seems New Zealand has avoided mass casualties. Plenty of infrastructure damage, though, which will take time to recover from.

    Given the dreadful potential of these things, I'm going to put this overall outcome on the plus side of 2016. I regard it as a fairly positive year.

    Thinking of all of you in New Zealand. I've been there and it's lovely, the people were very friendly to a Yank visiting from the U.S.  Hope aid comes quickly from around the world.

    I am glad to read that the were many fewer casualties this time although even 1 is to many and still reason enough to improve building resistance against earthquake damage. Maybe one day homes will be made of some sort of fireproof carbon fibre, plastics composites, or some appropriately resistant and inexpensive materials and stop most of the harm from earthquakes.

    Kiwis are a tough breed and you have to be living on a earthquake faultline.. :)  And it is cool to know since I never did that Stonemason is from NZ, I just live across the ditch in OZ myself.. :)

    Even though it was a strong quake and lots of damage, luckily Christchurch the major city of the south island was spared, as if that 7.8 had hit there then who knows what the out come would be..  Considering what happened in 2011 with the 6.3 quake..

    But in all it is good to see that you are safe and well.. :)

    I don't know that sounds very scary like those flesh eating bacteria that get on the loose sometimes in the USA. I avoid terror fiction although I did still manage to read Terry Practhett's Guards! Guards! and the entire LOTR Trilogy. laugh​

    Oh my gosh, thank goodness for them cows. In Switzerland they have a fleet of helicopters they use to fly cows to safety when they get stuck on cliffs. Flying cows in real life! One of the few times I've done a doubletake. And then I saw another flying though the air a few years later. The cows looked bored but I bet they were scared.
