Was interested in the http://www.daz3d.com/super-suit-super-hero-content-bundle ... that is, until I realized the Blackhawk Helicopter advertised as part of the bundle is not even in there.

What's Included and Features does have the helicopter listed tho.

Yes which is what we reported.

  • Thank You Frank. Just too bad it will no longer be 58% off by the time it's fixed.

Isn't that the chopper that does strange things in current versions of Studio?

If it is, it has seem/vertex problems.

Yes it is. You an still use it but the mesh is welded and tares when you open the doors.

    Thought so....

There was a thread a couple of months ago about it.

  • I thought someone posted a fix for that.  No idea where I saw that, though.

I did not noticed that, until now, but it is only for the front doors. Rendered in Daz Studio iray.

In Poser, doors seems to work properly, though.

Yep, and it works in DS3 as well; the problem is not with the model but with the way DS4 handles welded mesh.

IIRC the fix was to open the file in DS3 or Poser to break the mesh open and then resave the model. This works sometimes like for Hatching Egg but I don't think it worked for the helicopter.

Ah, well, I don't have Poser and DS 3 is a bit before my time so I don't have an old copy of that laying around either.  It's still okay for long range shots that don't need open doors and I have other helicopters.

Strictly the problem is with the model - parts that should be separate are instead joined. Poser, and the old PZ3 import in DS3, split the mesh into separate pieces by group and then rewelded only those parts marked as needing to be welded so the issue was harmless there (but would have been a problem in any other application that imported the mesh, except, possibly, 3D Studio max which I believe split the mesh by group anyway).

I just know vicious kitty will admonish me for instigating an apps war.  Studio 4 handles meshes and polygroups the sensible way whereas Poser pulls meshes apart by the polygroups and then needs 'weld' commands in the cr2 to put them back together.

I can give testament to the fact this black hawk helicopter does not work in daz 4.9, I reported this issues back with daz 4.8  It  works great in all versions of poser.  but it was made for a older version of daz and the doors mesh is welded in the heli obj., and when i reported the bug to Daz tech for a bug report They refunded my money after having me wait a year, instead of just telling me they weren't fixing the bug, they stating the models is to old for studio 4.9 support    so people beware of this issue if you are buying this helicopter to work in Daz 4.9 for your projects.

Fortunately  DarkMatters has some great helicopters and had a UE-1 Helicopter that does work in Daz 4.9  and worked out better for my needs in the end so that is what I used my refund on.
