One would think that since the majority of well-known cosplayers are female they would be at the forefront of squashing this ridiculous trend, but they tend to be the ones perpetuating it the most.
Btw to give the PA some credit, the El Commandante for Gen 3 female is very nice, with "practical boots" to go along with it. I say buy that, and send a message that it's time to retire the ridiculous footwear and boob armor. Daz artists are starting to grow up.
Why would they want to, would probably hurt their popularity and they'd lose followers, etc. I know I prefer my cosplay females in heels (flats only if the original outfit calls for it).
It's funny, my GF and I have gotten back into playing Sims 4 and in my town, all the female characters I have created are wearing heels, LOL.
That's just it. You'll see these exact replica's of a costume from a film, game or comic down the to the buttons and stitching, and then they'll add these ridiculous high heels that completely destroys the illusion. There is a reason that even though some cosplay rivals Hollywood, the term "something looks like cosplay" has this stigma attached to it.
I saw that and was tempted, but it didn't really fit my needs the way a space suit does
well... maybe, considering that weightlessness (what you're alluding to?) has a detrimental affect on bones, they loose mass/strength - something at any rate that is not good.
PAs produce what sells (understandable); heels sell, perhaps in part because of that Poser stigma. Whilst changeing what sold might in the long term be beneficial, folks have to eat in the short term. I never buy outfits that I feel shouldn't have heels - no matter how good, or how much I need them - I refuse to play a small part in reinforcing what everyone knows is true (even if it may not be).
I'd really like to know exactly how well heels do sell, considering there are so many of them, and that people increasingly complain about them. Everybody simply assumes they sell better. Are PA's producing what sells, or what they thinks sells? I mean how well does Norse for Gen3 female, which still has the high skimp factor going for it, but as least has sensible footwear that can be used in other situations sell against something with footwear that only appeals to the fetish crowd? Also how many people are buying costumes because other than the stupid heels the rest of the costume is actually well done? I know I switch out the footwear on costumes all the time.
And how much more work is there in giving buyers the option, and thus appealing to both crowds? Sort of like how dubbed and subbed Dvds ended that debate when both factions could have what they wanted in the same package and only have to pay for it once. Seems like the smart business move to make from my standpoint.
Just so you guys know that some PAs do listen... this type of thread (in the past) is exactly why I did not make the boots on Helix 5 high heeled. I went for treads, instead. And if you put G3F in a high heel pose, you can still get the same sexy effect without actually putting your character in high heels. There will be another product by me coming out soon enough, and it also does not have high heels for the same reason. Your feedback is taken in by some PAs and we do what we can with it.
And that's why I didn't hesitate to buy Helix 5 when it came out. It's a great piece of Sci-fi costuming to looks feasible and is still sexy. To be fair lots of PA's listen. There is an aviators costume for G3 now that is completely practical. We tend to only notice when someone goes off the rails and marrs an otherwise very good bit of clothes design with something that seems so out of place. Hopefully the people who don't like something are supporting PAs that offer an alternative.
In that case the main reasons I didn't get the helix5 outfit is because of the flats and the open top which kinda disobeys the laws of physics. A strap under the breasts would have done a lot for some believability.
lol... it is a stylistic outfit, never intended to be realistic... Although, the top is part of a unitard sort of thing, which is tight and stretchy, and would therefore probably hold things in to a degree. But thanks for telling me why you didn't like the outfit. Maybe next time I will put high heels on and a big strap under the chest. That sounds pretty. (I hope you can tell I'm just teasing)
You have enough heels already, let us flat footed people have our say/time in the limelight. ;p
Funny thing is, I have no problems with options, I want everyone to have what they want. it's just you don't see users that prefer heels complaining about flats that often as you see users complaining about heels, so i just had to make sure I spoke out for the heel fans so that the complaining wasn't all one sided, you know, for the vendors benefit, LOL.
There are soooo many styles of heels I am still waiting on for G3F, I have nearly all the V4 styles from idler168, Arryn, lilflame and DX30 that I am still waiting to see them come out with G3F versions as well as newer styles.

Did I need all of your UHT products? No, the first one met my needs rather well. But I now own 3 of them because you make it ease to support you with my wallet. Now I have to learn how to use the other two, with which your PDF guides and videos are a big help. Which is another reason...
Oh, never mind. Don't want to give you a swelled head so you decide that you should raise your prices...
How about a removable halter top like the original Willow? That would be a nice upgrade.

I've passed on stuff with flats, because ugh, flats.
Can't say it without sounding sexist, but I guess I'll say it anyways - it's all fantasy anyhoo. Female warriors & mages are fantasy in the first place, the world was WAY more sexist hundreds of years ago. Not to mention armor would cover everything up, robes would too to keep warm at night. Sci-Fi hasn't happened yet, would generally be more logical for flats but flats don't have the same appeal.
There will always be two camps, don't know how much time it would take, but I think if flats sold that well it would be good to have a flat boot and high heeled boot in a set to appeal to the most customers.
