Just to avoid any confusion....I said about it definately being out before Christams because we're not allowed to say an actual date, so I thought I'd be a bit funny. It will be out a lot before Christmas. Sorry if I put over a misleading comment.
Oh, no worries! Broad strokes with release dates. Adds to the drama and excitement factor! ;) I think we're all familiar with DAZ time tables and hush, hush policies.
Looking forward to what the tests say!
I'm really thrilled with a lot of the big picture, deep impact stuff people have been coming out with lately.
The Images on Facebook sure are stunning... I'm contemplating getting a loan to be sure I can afford this :D
especially after buying so much other great stuff lately *sigh*
Did I miss a link to FB page?
I feel a <squee> building up. This looks mindbogglingly good — looking forward to whenever it's released.
Looking forward to it!
You know, at some point, there needs to be a TerraDome3/Ultrascatter promo bundle.
Maybe something like 'Worlds of Daz'
(unless TD3 also populates with props, in which case don't mind me)
Sounds like an appropriate Big Bang launch item for the PA sale. Not that I have a whif of inside information.
*sigh* Iray or Poser materials only I take it? (Still hanging onto 3DL)
Colm Jackson has some pictures up on his FB page.
Oh, this is very exciting, can't wait to get my hands on TD3. I have both previous TerraDomes, and hands down they're the best landscape generators out there.
Okay, this will give me a reason to figure out Iray.
I still use the old Microcosm landscapes extensively when I need stuff like this in the background, because I don't have Poser, so I couldn't make the move to Terradome when that first came along. :)
And while I still prefer 3DL for it's toonishness, I'll adapt. :)
(Now I just need "soon" to be in about 2 weeks, since my mad money is pretty tied up for the next two weeks with the trip to the Renfaire... :) )
Will this be Iray only? Hoping it will work with 3Delight also.
Excellent, will wait patiently for the release, then.
Running around, searching the sofa cushions for change and thinking of odd jobs....
- "Why yes ma'am, I can cut your yellowed ancient gnarled *gag* taloned toenails for you! There will be a slight fee of course, but you'll love the results, I promise!"
- "You need poop patrol done on your yard to clean up after your 14 Great Danes? Absolutely! *urrrgh* I must insist on a slight fee for it, but I'll have it clean as a whistle!"
- "Ah yes, Great-Grandmother, I agree with you that you DO need that Brazilian - and yes, I'd absolutely love to do it for you..."
Oh yes, Terradome Iray WILL be mine!!! mwha hahahahahaha!
I own TD2 and am looking forward to TD3. I guess I'd better save up for it.
Sorry everyone, I'm gonna be that guy for a minute:
Is this going to be Poser-compatible?
Very exciting news!
The pictures look amazing, and the facebook page says that this and some support products will be up within the next few days. So glad I've been hoarding that last GC I got. :)
Look for the Page of Andrew Rolfe (Mortem Vetus) :)
From what I read on FB it'll be for DS IRAY.
Amazing! I will get it when it is released.
Is there a way to populate generated mountains with trees like it can be done with Vue? I don't expect this to be possible but maybe there is a way to do this in Studio/Terradome I am not aware of.
If studio gets a landscape generator with Terradome I'd really appreciate we would get an ecosystem generator as well.
The UltraScatter Advanced Instancing should help with that.
I've been playing with ultrascatter while it is a good approach it still is not yet a real ecosystem generator. Ultrascatter really helps populate a scene and I am glad we at least have that. I don't forget that until recently we had nothing to generate a credible landscape in Studio. So all these tools are new and we still have to discover their full potential. Anyway this thread is about Terradome. Let's get back to the topic.
Thanks everyone! Your support is amazing, and why I love this place!
Ok, so to answer a few questions:
Poser Version: TerraDome2 (Which *MIGHT*.... ok WILL) be going on sale on release of TD3 is designed for Poser Firefly. TD3 is Daz Studio Iray only.
Iray Only: Yes - Because the system is tied to it's shader technology we decided that it would be better in Iray over 3DL. Can it be done in 3DL.... Yes it can (sorta), all of the "pieces" are there as far as the terrain shader goes. Water, maybe, Atmosphere..... probably not. Lighting..... Would have to be done differently.
Ultrascatter: Totally works brilliantly with TD3, I am planning on getting a Traveler Loves Instancing tattoo one of these days.
Well with Colm's FB post of "within a few days" I was hoping it woyuld show up today; but i see we get Star 2.0 instead. So, I'm still trying to hold back on my purchases and save my pennies for TD3
Star is a great figure but not one I'd use much and TD would get much more use. My only regret now is that I didn't get Ultrascatter when it was on introductory sale.
I DID get Star, but eagerly waiting on this as well. But the really exciting part? One of the main reasons that was cited for the DAZ/RDNA merge was to give the original RDNA team more time to work on actual projects, and if we're getting Star and Terradome 3 just six months after the announcement, just imagine how many amazing new products we'll have by this time next year... :)
I think one of the places you'll continue to see requests for 3DL support is from folks who aren't as focused on doing photo-real work. A path to being able to use things like the Visual Style and Manga shaders and that could be lit by the AoA lights would probably cover a huge portion of those folks.
Well, you can get pretty close to photorealistic with 3DL, and you aren't as limited by your graphics card. Plus, 3DL has all sorts of tricks and weird shaders that can do neat things (like Stonemason's dirt shader, grass shaders, moss shaders, etc)
That said, to get a fancy shader to function in two different renderers is a lot of work.
Absolutely true. I have a huge library of 3DLshaders and assets that keep me using 3DL for a lot of things, but the complete dropoff in support for it on newer products has convinced me to start buying into iray as well. C'est la guerre.
