If they need to have a sale every day on this site just to sell anything then maybe they should look at the prices that they are originally asking for

( was only thinking this morning that it would be great if they could just level the prices out so that each item costs what the average price for it would be over a year, and just leave it there. I'd love to be be able to see something and think 'That's a great price for that - I'll wishlist it until I need it', or to be able to look for something I need at any point and be confident about buying it there and then, instead of wondering how long I can put a project off for because of the certainty that the product is likely to be substantially cheaper some time soon-ish. Yes, we'd lose a lot of bargain basement prices (often on things we don't actually want and would not otherwise have bought!) but, time being money, we'd gain in other ways. Sometimes I'd swear I spend more time shopping and browsing the forums for mention of deals I might have missed than I spend working with what I buy.

    "NEW SALE POLICY!"

"Prices permanently cut 50% on everything in the store! No more sales ever!"

Then people would just buy what they needed, when they needed it. Financial disaster for Daz.

It's no more than what I do when I buy on eBay, Amazon, etc and they're surviving :) The last thing I bought on eBay was a cage for my guinea pigs. I'd already determined that the price was acceptable to me and knew how much it was going to be because the price had been unchanged in my watch list for a while, and I did not have to assume that waiting for a while would see it massively reduced for a day. Nor did I have to have it in my cart simultaneously with a newly-released bag of guinea pig bedding and a chewy carrot toy that I'd had to scour the site for to keep the cost down :)

I'm not suggesting that other stores follow the DAZ model! Just like in a retail store, or Amazon or Ebay, I buy what I need when when I need it. If DAZ had fixed prices and no sales, I would have done the same, and spent less than I have. I'm assuming that other people would as well, and it would be a disaster for DAZ.

I think they'd lose a lot of business if they stopped doing the sales. Many people just can't afford to buy these items as a hobby at the normal prices. Don't get me wrong, I think the prices are probably needed to be pretty high to compensate the amount of work that the PAs put into the products. However, that doesn't negate the fact that the prices are going to be too high for many people to justify paying full price for. Even at 50% off many of the items are just priced a bit too high for many people. Personally I don't usually buy unless I can get at least 70% off. If they stopped doing sales I'd definitely have to move on to something else as this hobby would be entirely too expensive.

That's true, many rely on these sales to get the items they want. And if one has been shopping here for any duration they would know that eventually everything goes on sale atleast once or twice a month, and that if they are patient they can get the very item they need at a great price at another time.  That has influenced how I spend my money here, to be honest I have purchased more non sale items at the other sites then in the daz store.  If there is not always a sale then I'm not going to wait for that sale to buy what I want, I'll buy it full price usually because I don't want to wait the three to four months it might take for the item to actually go on sale.  But then again the items on the other sites are not as pricey either and that does sway my interest to buy.

Don't get me wrong, there is some nice stuff done here but at the full asking price I have to ask myself, is it worth a tank of gas to buy one character set or a morph add on for my hobby?  I hate thinking this way because I believe that the PA artists here deserve more then they are asking for, after all they put in so much creativity and work into what they sell, but my wallet can only deal out so much for hobby spending.

No problem with Avast, which can be often paranoid with it's false positives.

I am sure Deviant Art will be delighted to know that Symantec think they are a dangerous site.

My Paypal and Daz are having a major fling - they spend so much time together. Ebay is getting jealous. lol

How about the no-mega no-flash sales going on right now.

I say "no-flash" because it's been more than 24 hours. "No-mega" because it's deviney and Dreamlight, both of which have such frequent "insane markup" sales that we get the feeling that their products are deliberately overpriced by a factor of 3 or 4 in order to accommodate 60, 70, even 80% sales.
