  • It shows still in QA cue.  It still has to go through the process just like a new product.  As soon as it is live I will post here.

If you are running 4.8 and need the fix now just send me a message with your email address and I will it to you.  There are a few other updates so you will want to download the full update once it is available.

    Thanks!

When I started working on adding hems, I realized I'd have to change the Roughness and Normal maps as well, so I created a Photoshop action. I'm in the process of packaging it up along with a base file (containing paths required by the Action,) and instructions. It may take a few days to get everything together, but once it's ready, I'll post where you all can download it from.

Wow!  Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.  And I even saw someone wearing pretty much exactly that today. :)

My little contribution to the thread.  I love the morphs!  I admit I did have to add a small d-former just because I couldn't quite get her thumb on the left hand to cooperate with the JeanZ (my pose issue, not a JeanZ issue), but everything else were straight out fo the box morphs for the JeanZ.  I love these JeanZ!  Iray render.

Okay. I've packaged up the base psd file and actions, along with step-by-step instructions. I've posted information in the Freebies forum: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/107001/. But the actual download is through my DeviantArt account. (My second submission! lol) Hemming the Daisy DukeZ in JeanZ for Genesis 3

    Enjoy.

  • Hi the3dwizard,

Many thanks for providing the fix for us Studio 4.8 users. I downloaded it today and it works a treat. I can truly say that I have never bought an item of clothing before that has SO many style variations and morphs in one product. The work you put into this item is stunning, and these jeanz will now be my number one 'go to' clothing item due to its versatility.

I now look forward to your future creations.

    With kind regards, and appreciation,

    smiley

Ah, I was doing a render with a Genesis figure and had on the JeanZ for Genesis, but was having fits with getting the capris to work in Iray.  The cutout to short the pants didn't want to work right.  On a lark, I tried the new Iray shaders for the G3 JeanZ and they work great on the older JeanZ.  Are the UVs really close for all the JeanZ products?  I like being able to update the older JeanZ that I have with the new Iray materials.  I don't remember reading that the Iray textures would work with the older products.  Maybe I missed that?

Having spent an inordinate amount of time with the textures, I can attest to just how close to the same they are. The biggest difference is the location of the inseam. The JeanZ for G3 has new UVs, but the3dwizard included the original UVs as well. Try changing the UVs after you apply the G3 shaders. I think that's all you need. But I'm sure the3dwizard will pop in with an official answer soon.

L'Adair has it.  The new version has some tweeks on the inseam, major changes in the groin area and  I did included the original UV's as an option.   So the new Iray textures will work with the older version but on closer inspection in those two areas you may see things that are off.  However you may find they work well enough on the older JeanZ for a wide range of poses and camera angles.

You can copy the UV files from the JeanZ for Genesis 3 install into your JeanZ for Genesis if you want the new mapping on your older JeanZ.

    /data/The3DWizard/JeanZ Genesis 3 Female/JeanZ/UV Sets/the3dwizard/Base/

    to

    /data/The3DWizard/GenesisJeanZ/GenesisJeanZ/UV Sets/the3dwizard/Base

of course at your own risk, but then again you can always reinstall the original.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for the quick update!

JeanZ now works great in 4.8 on both male and female figures right out of the box, the temporary workaround you posted earlier no longer needed. By they way, that was one of the incentives that pushed me to purchase the product in the first place, that it works with both genders. Guys need good jeans too!  :-)

Thanks! I love that I can use the new Iray textures.  For the pose I had, I didn't even notice any differences so no need to change the UV out.  Everything worked perfect and they look great in my image!

    Enjoy.

I've updated the description for this freebie over at DA, but I wanted to add the information here, too.

The Photoshop actions use a feature called Refine Mask, part of the Refine Edge feature introduced in Photoshop CS3. So anything before CS3 won't be able to use this function. And if you use Photoshop CC, you'll need a version earlier than 2015.5 as Refine Edge was replaced with Select and Mask. I don't have CC, (for a number of reasons,) but according to what I've read, CC users can reinstall an earlier version without uninstalling the current version. It's a hassle, but at least you can still use my Hemming solution, if you want to.

  • @L'Adair: Thanks for the Hemming freebie. Although your instructions are great to learn how to alter the files, noobs like me might have some trouble in applying the altered files correctly afterwards. So I did select the Dukes, then applied the TransMap with CutOut. But it seems that there is still the old TransMap used somewhere as you can see in my testrender. Any idea where I should look? Thanks!

Selecting the Daisy DukeZ in the Material settings won't work. After you create the new textures, you will need to manually change the textures in the Surfaces->Editor for Base Color, Glossy Roughness, Normal Map and Cutout Opacity.

Rather than applying either the Blue Daisy Dukes or the Faded Daisy Dukes material settings, I recommend making all the changes manually, and then saving the changes as a Material preset. Here are instructions for Iray materials on a Windows based computer. All file names assume you used the recommended naming conventions.

    1. Add JeanZ to your scene and apply the Blue JeanZ material setting.
    2. In the Surfaces->Editor, expand the material listing for JeanZ
    3. Click on "Body"
    4. Hold down the Shift key and click on RearPocket.
    5. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on 5thpocket. All material zones should now be highlighted except those for the belt.
    6. Locate Base Color in the right column, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    7. If necessary, change the location to the Iray subfolder of Textures\the3dwizard\GenesisJeanZ
    8. Locate, select and Open the blue_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Base_Color.jpg (or faded_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Base_Color.jpg) image
    9. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the Brass material zone.
    10. Locate Glossy Roughness in the right column, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    11. Locate, select and Open the blue_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Roughness.jpg (or faded_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Roughness.jpg)
    12. Locate Normal Map in the right column, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    13. Locate, select and Open the blue_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Normal.jpg (or faded_DDukeZ_Hemmed_Normal.jpg)
    14. Click on the DaisyDuke material zone. (It should now be the only zone selected.)
    15. Locate Cutout Opacity in the right column, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    16. Change to the base Textures\the3dwizard\GenesisJeanZ folder.
    17. Locate, select and Open the DDukeZTR_Hemmed.jpg
    18. Click on the Capris material zone, Hold down the Ctrl key and click on Jams and Pants material zones. These three zones should now be selected.
    19. Locate Cutout Opacity in the right column and set the value to 0.00,

To save as a Material Preset:

    1. Select JeanZ in the Scene tab.
    2. Click on File->Save As->Material Preset…
    3. If necessary, browse to the Presets->Materials folder of your Library folder. (For me, that's the default My Library.)
    4. Enter a name that makes sense to you. I used "JeanZ DaisyDukeZ Hemmed Blue Iray" and "JeanZ DaisyDukeZ Hemmed Faded Iray" so the two settings will be next to each other.
    5. In the popup window, deselect the five properties that begin with Belt. (This prevents overwriting any shaders you may have applied to the belt previously.)
    6. Click on Accept.

    For 3Delight

    1. Add JeanZ to your scene. It should have 3Delight (RDL) settings by default
    2. In the Surfaces->Editor, expand the material listing for JeanZ
    3. Click on "Body"
    4. Hold down the Shift key and click on RearPocket
    5. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on 5thpocket. All material zones should now be highlighted except those for the belt
    6. Locate Diffuse Color in the right collumn, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    7. If necessary, change the location to the base Textures\the3dwizard\GenesisJeanZ folder
    8. Locate, select and Open the blue_DDukeZ_Hemmed_3DL_2016.jpg (or faded_DDukeZ_Hemmed_3DL_2016.jpg) image
    9. Click on the DaisyDuke material zone. (It should now be the only zone selected.)
    10. Locate Opacity Strength in the right column, click on the image and select Browse from the popup list
    11. Locate, select and Open the DDukeZTR_Hemmed.jpg
    12. Click on the Capris material zone, Hold down the Ctrl key and click on Jams and Pants material zones. These three zones should now be selected.
    13. Locate Opacity Strength in the right column and set the value to 0.00%

To save as a Material Preset:

    1. Select JeanZ in the Scene tab.
    2. Click on File->Save As->Material Preset…
    3. If necessary, browse to the Presets->Materials folder of your Library folder. (For me, that's the default My Library.)
    4. Enter a name that makes sense to you. I used "JeanZ DaisyDukeZ Hemmed Blue 3DL" and "JeanZ DaisyDukeZ Hemmed Faded 3DL" so the two settings will be next to each other and those of the Iray settings.
    5. In the popup window, deselect the five properties that begin with Belt. (This prevents overwriting any shaders you may have applied to the belt previously.)
    6. Click on Accept.

    I hope this helps.

    You're welcome.

Obviously, I should have included these instructions in the original package. I've already added them to the instructions file and uploaded the changes to DA. (I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to update the file.)

I just posted this in the wrong thread so I'll try again here. I have not had access to my PC for several months while emigrating but I have been buying in the meantime. I was looking forward to loading this product but am sorely disappointed because the old problem with texture/geometry stretchin on the inner thighs is a big let down. I would have thought that this problem could have been resolved by now.

I can't return the product becuase my 30 days has run out but I hope that @the3Dwizard can come up with a fix. Here's what I mean:

I don't know of any other textures sets and it does piss me off that someone else is using the JeanZ name, wonder if I can trademark it?

By itself, "Jeanz" is just a homophone of "Jeans" and is insufficiently unique. Combined with something else, USPTO shows 14 trademarks, the oldest being the 1988 "Whooz Jeanz".

Thank you. I really like the Jeanz in all other respects and my frustration covers many other garments in the store - I mean shorts, swimwear and underwear. I've attempted morphs myself in the past and had some success with a single pose but it requires the skill of a pro to do it justice, I feel.

Otherwise, a tip on what to do for a fix and I'll have another go in Blender.

Kind of the conclusion I came to when I briefly looked into it, but there is still only one original JeanZ (i.e. jean like items used as virtual clothes on 3D figures in Poser and Studio)  ;)

There are two things going on.  One there is natually stretching of the polygons in this area and by a large amount.  Two, in the original model I did not optimize the UV mapping for the groin area, it was made more for ease of texturing.  I could make a  whole new UV map but then it wouldn't work on the current textures or any third party textures.  So I am tweaking the UV map and the JCM's so this area will look a little better but it won't go away entirely.  I will make the UV map a seperate one which you can just select when doing poses that stretching is a problem.

    Cheers!
