I wasn't suggesting to buy two 970s, rather I was just talking about how cheap the 970 currently is. Buy one used for $185, use it for your promo renders, And sell it when the 1070 gets support. I can just about guarantee you will be able to nearly all of that back. I bet even next year, the 970 will be selling for $160 used. So you would only lose what, $30-50 after shipping? That seems like a worthwhile investment to me. If you bought your power supply with the intention of two 1070s, then it can handle a 970 and 1070 while you wait. And again, I am personally convinced it is going to be a long wait.

Indeed it seems to be a long wait (it's already a long wait having to render with CPU), but still don't have the PSU, and a motherboard that supports SLI, only crossfire, so, it's not as easy a plug the new card, and then resale it, is get a PSU, a new mother board, then more ram cause already need it... it never stops if you know what I mean, you need a powerfull computer to work on this. By the way, still have a 960, but just 2gb, so it can handle just a character and usually without a full outfit or the vram gets filled, and falls to CPU, plus it's on a bit slower computer than this one, so... I try to make the scenes while I'm texturing, and then, render all together while shopping, sleeping.... you know, trying to "survive" to the lack of Pascal support.

I would like to get the PSU, the mother board for the SLI, the other 1070, and 64gb right now, but eventhough the mem, indeed I need it, the other components would make me feel like I'm spending more than 1000€ again, just to play better, and don't have much time now. Even if I take the 1070 out of the equation, and add a 970, would be 300€ (336 USD+-) less. Still I'll try to wait for the support, but at this rate, I already think that will take a lot of time.

thankyou copied and saved all this so can keep going back to it lot to take in had a look at few videos the water effect in substance WOW that looked amazing in a video I watched. What I liked about zbrush well pretty much all of you use it but what I liked about it was in some videos the way you create a new project is like working with clay which I've had experiance in enjoyed sculpting drawing creatures so I probably get to grips with the basics fairly easily but it costs fair bit $795 which roughly in Australian at moment is $1058.80 not counting the disc  copy and I always have to get a disc copy when can, was thinking closer to $12-1500 there is the free Sculptris don't know what zbrush type tools abilities you miss out on here but heard some dazonites use it saw another zbrush video where it also has what looks like good texturing tools but I'm gussing not as good as substance otherwise you'd all just be using zb. But there is that new zbrush core coming out whether it's free or still a decent cheaper alternative info at end of month so wait and see be interesting to see maybe they also be a new full zbrush too and that has something iray added and maybe advanced textures

I'm happy to be of help. About a new ZB, yes, they're working on it, don't know for how long already, there will be no more "Rs" (4R4, 4R7...), the next update will the to a 5 version. What you say, is dynamesh, and indeed is like working with clay, it's really fun, that was one of the things they added on an update if I remember correctly (still didn't use it, but I've readed about it somewhere).  Of course, due to the price, and the difference from USD to AUD, I understand why you hesitate, but as you say about the PAs, just wait a few weeks, or maybe two months or so.

Yesterday Substance Painter added a bridge to photoshop, haven't tried it yet, it seems to lack a bridge back, but seems quite nice to be able to paint, really fine detail in photoshop, or a lot more of course.

Oh, and if you found interesting the workflow with painter, you should check some Uncharted 4 environment painting, or vehicles or whatever, all done with the Allegorithmic package.

  • If you get a 980ti you will be able to sell it if and when the better support comes along.

  • So there's still no word on 10x support? :/

    (Maybe I'm missing something)

Support for the Pascal architecture has been in Daz Studio from the release of the last 'full' version and the last beta version.  You also need recent(ish) mVidia graphcs driver to complete the mix.

I adore you. I spent a whole day on it. I downloaded the version of Dazh3D and everything worked perfectly. You are my idol. Thank you.
