last version I got was x7 and bought the dvd backup which in my money was an extra $9.95 same price as the 2 year download backup. newest version is x9 it's at a advanced discount intro price at moment don't think offering back up options at moment btw folks my new computer arrived today with my 2x 1080 cards may take me few days to get everything setup and installed got a lot to put on it, pretty though case has a window can see the orange lights on the cards go on and off
...how much did it cost?
When you get everything set up and installed, would like to know how it handles rendering a "big"scene similar to those I create (eg. big Stonemason set, multiple figures, lots of props, plants, etc,..).
well had some problems sort of in my order sort of not know the techniqual aspects of computers my order consisted of 2 1080gyx, 1 tb ssd, a bonus free sshd, plus two 4tb hard drives. Now as I was starting to install programs I could only see loacate 2 drives the main c drive being the 1 tb ssd and one 4tb drive and looking inside has a big window can take off I have no idea what I'm looking at but I took a photo of the computer innards and screen and wrote to the company Origin now I didn't get the 2 tb sshd as the case apparently isn't big enough to fit it in even though it is the biggest case of the four to choose from and in the options you could have four drives but I'm still getting a 2tb sshd sent to me but an external one Origin just hasn't recieved it from seagate yet, as for the other 4tb hard drive it is there they said because I selected raid 1, I don't see it as it operates as a mirror backing up the other 4 tb drive I not really understanding if this means I still have 8tb or what or just the 4tb and everything saved twice
here's the specs and total this is Australian price btw
oh yeah got a few games too and lots of programs to install and still daz of course with well over 100gb content when my laptop crashed and had to reinstall my daz content was just over 100gb bought a lot since then and yes lot of large type content like urban sprawl 3 on average on my laptop renders can take several hours I do do I think pretty large complex scenes several characters usually lots of different bits of different props, clothing very rare simple single characters with hardly and content so yeah it is going to be interesting to see how much more can have in my scenes and render speeds if I visualise an idea I do not like to restrict myself when recreating it

$6700 USD without a monitor?
Dude, not to be a party pooper, but that sounds really steep. The two video cards are $700 each, $200 mobo, i7 6700K $320. 850 W PSU $120-200. 1 TB Samsung 850 Evo SSD $300 in a $100 case. That's only about 2450-2550 USD. That should be the bulk of the cost.
ALMOST ordered the Titan X Pascal. They came back in stock Wed, sat on deciding too long, and were out of stock at the end of the day.
Someone must have cancelled because it appeared they had 1 in stock (it let me put one in cart) yesterday morning, kept trying to put 2 in then it would clear the cart. Thought something was wrong, wanted to call them but by the time messing around trying to find a phone number and deciding to just get 1 that was sold out, then I couldn't put anything in cart.
Looks like EVGA is making the Titan X Pascal, and they have a Superclocked edition but their prices are steep now.
Agree: it looks to be costing far more than it should!
Heads-up, back in stock.
Ordered.
I figured I'll either be crying about when Iray will support Pascal cards, or that I can't find a Pascal Titan-X when the Iray does support them.
...I take it the GST is sort of like a VAT so I subtracted that and still came up with around 6,100USD
Yeah a lot for only a 32 GB system. though it sounds like this is a custom house build so some of the cost was most likely was them putting it all together and testing it before shipping
When I was considering a new build, I was looking at the following:
Intel i7 6 core 3.5 GHz CPU with aftermarket CPU cooler
Asus X99 MB Socket LGA 2011-3
128 GB GDDR4 memory in quad channel mode (I also work in CarraraPro x64).
x 2 Nvidia Maxwell Titan-X Hydros.
x1 1TB SSD (LIbrary Drive + 1 x 500MB SSD (Boot drive)
x2 4TB storage drives
1600w PSU
DVD R/W drive
Win7 Pro x64
Professional full tower case with multiple fans (no windows or lights)
Total cost was about 6,000USD with "some assembly required" (I build my own systems).
No displays needed as I already have them as well as a 42" 1080p flat screen if I want it.
As Maxwell Titan-X GPUs are no longer available that, changes the configuration. The best would be to substitute the GTX1080 which would bring the cost down. Since 1080s consume far less power and run cooler liquid cooling and a 1,600W PSU may not be a necessity which could bring the cost down to just under 5,000USD.
EVGA just announced their Pascal Titan-X...1,699USD on Amazon (Newegg doesn't have them yet)
The other choice would be to step up to dual Qaudro 5000Ps (16 GB) but those alone would probably cost more than the entire system price above (built around the GTX 1080 as the 8 GB Quadro M5200 retails for about 2,500USD)
Scott, what about all the other stuff in Reapers build? You don't have GST? Founders edition 1080 here is minimum $1300 and cheaper brands don't come for much under $1200. Down under we seem to get ripped for tech something chronic. My build without the GPU was $4700. I'll come in under Reapers build with twice the RAM but with about 1/4 of the storage space, and not by much. With me you're also looking at someone who can't build a computer to save my own life. :)
yes kyoto kid it was a custom build and scott and nicstt maybe but 3delinquent and I live in Australia and everything costs a lot more here as he mentioned the 1080 can cost around $1300 here guessing that titan will be close to $3000 here his buils was pretty good from memory can't remember you get one or two cards? I got two, do remember you got 64gb some builds on some sites cost more for less that alienware 51 cost more had 3 980ti but less everything else. On the mainland you probably have more local choices for custom builds and prebuilds than we do in Tasmania our custom builders don't offer much choice low end cards and small drives and our best store for prebuilds is harvey norman so yeah for me cost and what I got was pretty good for me hell you should see some of the prices I've paid for some things here magazines, comics, dvds, games can be very expensive here some mags can be up to $30+ average new release game can be close to $100, comics $7- $10 that's the cheap ones, dvds/blu rays $50-$70 and the of course content bought from here
In the US we do have a sales tax that varies by state, which is a combination of state and municipality taxes on goods and services.
The Founder's Edition is $700 in the states. Yeowch, yeah you do get ripped. Maybe I might have to look into getting a boat to smuggle tech goods in.
....here in Oregon there is no sales tax, however, we have a state income tax that sort of makes up for it.
Part of the reason I am content to stay here in spite of the damp climate (well, hasn't been too bad the last three years or so).
At Newegg I found an EVGA GTX 1080 for 627$. The nice thing is even with ground shipping I usually get what I order in about two days as they are just down the coast.
our main tax is gst goods and services tax which they're talking about increasing + other different taxes and the value of our dollar goes all over the place, going by the prices of the 10 gtx series I would say this new Titan for us Australians will be pretty close to the $3000 mark so I don't see that many getting it here maybe for bragging rights, New Zealand think be worse think their $ is worse than ours and in another thread about something else I think it was somene from Africa said their $ was even worse still. It is pretty good though for content creators/sellers from Australia though as once their percentage of their sales gets converted from US $ to Australian $ they get a nice little profit so probably earn a lot more better than the US content creators depending on how well and how much content they have to sell of course
...well, building a new system right now is pretty much "wishful thinking" for me unless I get some kind of windfall like backpay for my SS disability claim that goes back to when I lost my job over three years ago.
That should give Nvida time to smooth out the bumps with it's Iray SDK for the Psacal GPUs and prices to settle down as production rates stabilise
I was able to get my new computer due to recieving a little inheritence no way I would have ever gotten a computer like this otherwise I would have had to go for a store premade which are basic or 3 year try buy rental thing which my v17 nitro laptop is it's how I've gotten most of my stuff the latest or newest coming soon computer the store I rent from told me they were getting the Acer Predator which does look pretty cool with 64GB but very small harddrives and 1 980Ti. Be probably many years till they or our local stores offer any computers with 1060/70/80 cards and Titans well no chance seeing those. Be nice if anyone here gets at least one of these new Titans so that when Iray works with the new cards we can do some benchmarking to compare all these new cards with the old ones and we have Mech3D to compare with her 4 titans
They sell those things in Hawaii?
Sounds like it would be cheaper to take a vacation to Hawaii, then just happen to stop into Best Buy and pick up some video cards to throw in your luggage. You may not save a lot, but you get a "free" vacation.
...+1.
lol Scott that's when customs gets you here one well several of our reality shows shown on tv here are these shows featuring customs at the airports and when they go through peoples luggage and hit them with charges for items they have on them one person had a few cartons of their favorite cigerattes they had a choice either pay the charges which was a lot or give them up to be destroyed it would have cost them tooooo much to keep so they gave them up. Same with other things copped hefty fees to keep them people end up giving them up, also if customs don't like something gets destroyed, a guy from Ripley's Believe Or Not almost lost had some of his items brought with him for a sho destroyed too. Oh and someone had ordered/bought a replica Star Trek Klingon Batliff customs instantly had that destroyed didn't understand why anyone would wont it and it was considered too dangerous a weapon
and then there's if it wasn't released in/for Australia bit they get a bit funny no matter what it is so titan card bought overseas and brought through your way customs probably charge so much it'd be even more expensive still
...what about gifts? Or do they tax/confiscate those too?
depends what mood they're in and who's there but yeah seen on these shows people had to pay fees for all kinds of things and sometimes don't get any charges/fees to pay and they querry how much money you have if you don't have what they consider enough they get a bit funny and if you have too much same there too
