  • High heels and MHX/Rigify rig problem

    Hi,
    I can import a character wearing heels using Diffeo just fine, but when I apply an MHX or Rigify rig to it, things go south.
    The rig is offset to the mesh, most likely by the added height from the heels.
    When I export the character with flat feet instead, I am unable to tweak the toe positions and have the shoe deform to this new angle.

    Is there a way to compensate for the added character height, so that the fk/ik controllers match the positions of the mesh?

    It works! Using the Products tab instead of Files seems to have resolved this issue! I never even noticed these tabs and the contents inside them looks so similar that I never would have thought about this. I will continue to use the Products tab for other assets. Thanks so much!

  • Exporting Rendered Timeline to Adobe Premiere Pro

    Daz Studio Output:
    In the "Render Settings" pane, set "Render Type" to "Image Series."
    Specify the range of frames to render in "Render Range."
    A series of image files will be created with sequential numbers added to the file name specified in "Series Base."

    Importing into Premiere Pro:
    (My interface is in Japanese, so I apologize for not knowing the exact terms in other languages.)
    From the main menu, select "File (F)" - "Import (I)." *SS2
    Select the first image file from the series of images output by Daz Studio.
    Check "Image Sequence" and click "Open (O)." *SS3

    I normally use Texture Shaded in the viewport but I tried a number of display styles, including Iray, and they all show the same red hair after I try a different material. The Log might give some clues as to what's wrong. It shows a bunch of warnings and references to items missing:

    In fact they do - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/dson_spec/format_description/metadata/categories/start online, it is also in the /resources/RootCategories.txt file in the application folder. The full category tree is also visible under Categories in the Content Library (not necessarily in Smart Content since that shows only categories that contain items with the current filtering options)

    you would likely need to save it as support asset figure AND make sure you have blended/triax weight too

    and no, it's a much bigger footprint than legacy Poser rigging 

    I love using Poser legacy content in Carrara for just that reason, it works so well compared to duf which is full of issues

    another option is DAZcollada export from D|S Carrara import which works quite well with Poser content

    I have a lot of trouble remembering the names of people I know in my life and that includes many of the PAs I have bought products from. Yes, there are some with a very distinctive style, RawArt, AeonSoul, ChevyBabe, esha, Stonemason... that I can recognize almost immediately, but others, well I am clueless. As I am installing products I have bought into my new computer I have found that I am surprised that one I own it, two who made it, three how could I forget it! This is why Content Library is not useful for me except for a few products like complex shaders.

    And as for metadata, I am frustrated beyond words the items dropped into one category that have no relationship with that one. A car, food, clothing, dumpster all coded as 'Furnishings/Decor'! At least make it simple for the user to fix this again for ourselves.

    To me, PA folders are nothing but a nuisance, and I nuke them in those libraries that I manage in the Content Directory, without smart content. But I really really wish we could adapt smart content metadata in an easy way! I don't understand why the database clings to the original installation folders like glue, there seems to be no reason that I can see why users should not be able to organize their smart content to their heart's content wink. This would solve many grievances I feel.

  • Diffeomorphic pose import different

    For most poses daz studio asks the user to turn off limits, if this is the case you have to turn off limits in blender as well before loading the pose.

    runtime > locks and limits

    Then if you use IK rigs as MHX or rigify, there may be slight differences depending on the pose, as the pose gets converted from the daz rig, so this is expected. It is also important to understand that diffeomorphic is first designed to import the daz assets in blender then pose and animate there, though there's features to import daz poses and animations.

  • How can I export a morph from Daz Studio?

    Unreal Engine 5's window for viewing a skeletal mesh has a button for importing a morph target as an fbx file.

    With the Daz to Unreal plugin, I was able to transfer a G3M figure with morphs and the plugin's subdivision level for the figure set to 2. I tried doing that again with the same G3M figure with the plugin's subdivision level for the figure set to 3, but Daz Studio crashed. However, I was able to transfer that same G3M figure with subdivision level 3 and no morphs included.

    Daz Studio's Daz to Unreal plugin can export a skeletal mesh with morphs. But, I want to export just the morphs as fbx files. For, I can then import those fbx files as morph targets into the G3M figure with subdivision level 3 that I had already imported into Unreal Engine 5.

    So, how can I use Daz Studio to export an fbx file of a morph?

    Right, not complex. But considering the official update you may get for re-installation, you better also correct the file paths in *.DSX file in the folder of Manifest Archive...otherwise when IM package uninstalls the files you ever moved, it cannot find the files from the original DSX file.

    However, if the files in the update package locate in the very same folder(s) to which you've ever moved the files, you don't have to worry if DIM is able to find the moved files or not... Anyway, the above process is always the safest way if you go for fixing the issue yourself while waiting for the product update ~~

    Exactly. For Smart Content users, existing metadata of the product won't work anymore after "directly moving folders / files". So either correct the folder structure, Manifest and metadata files in IM package before installation, or after moving folders no matter in File Explorer or Content Library, correct file paths in metadata file (*.dsx), then re-import it.

    In Blender, to have an object smooth, you select your object in object mode (not in edit mode) and go in Object/Shade Smooth or Shade Smooth Auto.. For the import the newer version of Blender should be easier than the old ones since they keep vertex orders by default.

    Thank you so much! I was also wondering if you can apply subdivision modifier after applying shade smooth to make it look more smooth and be more precise with sculpting? Of course you shouldn't bake it and remove the modifier before exporting. Is that a better approach?
