  • 3D printing strand based hair???

Just found this, not specifically about 'capped tubes' but it does at least show how to get Strand-Based hair into Bender.  You basically just have to ensure that 'Tessellation Sides' is set to at least 3 so that it turns every strand into tube form.  Then export it as an standard object, and finally import it into Blender.

That's great ! And the logos look nice ! You can freely adjust the logos position in image editor as needed.

As for the Ghostblde Elbow Strap, you can follow the steps below to make one for using on the left arm.

    1) Export it to OBJ file ( File > Export... ) by using the settings in (ss1). Import OBJ file into the scene ( File > Import... ).
    2) Rig the OBJ to G8F figure ( Edit > Object > Transfer Utility...) by using the settings in (ss2).
    3) Select the strap on the right, go to Surfaces pane to select its Surface, right-click menu > Copy Selected Surfaces(s)... Then select the strap on the left, Paste to Selected Surface(s). (ss 3 ~ 4)
    4) Then you need to Horizontally Flip the partial logos, in Image Editor, on the texture maps of Base Color, Glossy Roughness and Normal Map slots. Save them as new maps and assign them to the strap on the left accordingly. (ss 5 ~ 6)

Finally save it as a Wearable Preset. Done ~

This product : https://www.daz3d.com/mirror-geometry can automate the above steps but you still have to tweak texture maps...

You are really awesome! You write it so well step by step BUT I STILL MISSED something! xD hehehe look what it made to me.. I pretty sure missed something in the start?
Also if you have time for commissions as well let me know, You didn't say nothing so pretty sure you can't but in case you miss that hehe , all good if you can't as well by the way! your help me a lot! ^^

Ah, pls carefully check my screenshot related to the settings of Export... When you Export / Import OBJ files, make sure you set 100% in Scale. In your screenshot, it is 1%.

Right ~ , I'm not able to have dedicated time to do commissions for the time being... but maybe in Q2.  Pls feel free to let me know what you want exactly by DM me. However, be noted that commission may cost you more... than buying existing products. devil

I will be happy to work with you! About the DM where I can see it in DAZ3D site? hehehe , you have Discord maybe?
And about the item you write it step by step thank you for that! But it still stuck , I don't know what I missing , look at the image for example . Sorry for all this problems hehehe

    Yea, replied, check your Inbox.

So it was stuck when using Transfer Utility? Did it ever work for you before?

Weird, and not something that has been widely reported.

My apologies - if content does not have metadata, which would be the case for much content from other stores or freebies, then the assets are not created until the folder is accessed - this is for performance reasons.

Why the fast way doesn't make any sense to you ? If you have 30K products, 10G size of cms database, you could get it restored just by copy/paste within 30 secs. with all metadata intact ~~

It doesn't make sense to me because I my computer knowledge is patchy at best. Copy and paste to where?  Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

Oaky, the steps are pretty simple:

    0) Fully close DS and DIM applications.
    1) Open your File Explorer / File Browser, go to the path: %appdata%\DAZ 3D\  Copy cms folder to one of your disks (non C drive !) ... (screenshot 1)
    2) After you install the new system, as well as DS and postgreSQL of course, copy / paste the above cms folder to the very same path  %appdata%\DAZ 3D\  Overwrite it !

Also, make sure you backup these folder as well. Then restore them to your new system.
    %appdata%\DAZ 3D\InstallManager
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager

In this way, you don't have to re-install products, export / import metadata... yada yada . All the data of installed products and custom metadata will be intact.

Because she's not a programmer / system administrator and doesn't know what an SQL database is or how to back up & restore them.

The DAZ Studio supplied why that she did the backup & restore is fine. What is a few minutes when if you have thousands of products in DIM you will be reinstalling in a clean windows install that will take many hours, especially if run off a USB drive?

How did you "backup" your custom categories ?

    - Standard way: export user metadata (Content DB Maintenance > check Export User Data option....), then re-import them after setting up DS in your newly-installed Windows system

    - Fast way: completedly backup cms database ( %appdata%\DAZ 3D\cms ), then restore it in your new system.

I believe I used the standard way Content DB Maintenance > check Export User Data option. The second one (fast way) does not make any sense to me so I know I didn't try that one. I got the information from the Daz forum on how to export it, but it's been many months so the specifics have escaped me. I have not tried to reimport what I have saved.

  • Blender bridge question

manual export and manual import via morph loader pro are not severely arduous tasks.

ive made many morphs and never thought it was so stenuous to require a live link/bridge/faster process to save you 10-20 seconds of work.

  • Blender bridge question

I don't have Zbrush (way out of my budget) but if GoZ is working the same as the Hexagon bridge, the closest you can get to replicating the same behaviour is OBJ Companion:

    https://www.daz3d.com/obj-companion

It allows exporting all items in one go, taking care of setting, if needed, their resolution to base, and saving each of them as OBJ with setting tailored to Blender, then once you have done what you wanted in Blender and saved the result (fastest way is to overwrite the OBJ), it will take care of importing them with the correct settings.

It's one of my most used product, and it's a plugin, so it won't crash Daz on my Mac blush (it just won't work on the current general release, but it's working fine in the public beta), more precislye it very rarely crash it (some time, for an unknow reason, Daz will get stuck right after I have selected an OBJ to import back but it's pretty rare, so I have to kill the Daz process).

  • can I download to iClone?

If you mean download (obtain data from a remote site and copy it to your own system) thenm assuming this is about Daz store content, no. If you mean export content from Daz Studio and import that or the original content into iClone, I beleive so to at least an extent. You need to be a little more specific about what you are wanting to do.

  • Blender bridge question

Right~~ if you do not aim to render DS scenes in Blender, the bridge is almost useless. Manual export/ import will do....though it's not as fast as GoZ.

    Anyone else notice this?

I clicked on the "shop now" button for the DAZ+ Member's Exclusive Perk deal with the coupon for $10 off in DAZ Originals, and I saw this character Eden for Elena 9 come up for Free. The link took me to the product page, but there's something wrong with it and you can't add it to the cart.

It looks like a beautiful character, and I was excited that it would be free. But I'm guessing someone made an oops. If it were free, I'm sure it would come up somewhere else in the store, which this doesn't seem to be the case.

That's odd.  Maybe they're adding product pages for the Premier only models, which is a good idea.  You need a Premier subscription and Elena 9 to get her.  It shouldn't say Free unless you have Premier-should flag it as needing the subscription as to not confuse anyone.  Could be a one-off, because I couldn't pages for Sidhiel for Sylvia or Ash for Ashley either.

These pages could also be an alternate way to get them instead of needing to wait for the release, update Metadata in Daz Studio and install it through there.

Or it could just be an error.

  • Paste Keys from fbx not working in the graph editor

    Hey everyone,

To give some background on this issue, I am using the Rokoko suit and face app to capture my movements and facial expressions.

When I go into blender, I am able to copy the keyframes from the Rokoko face to the imported G8M character, then I insert keys to each of the ARKit morphs of the G8M model and finally pasting the copied keys from the Rokoko face fbx file, followed by using Better fbx exporter to export the fbx file - see attached screenshots

Within Daz - 4.20 on Windows 10, I load a G8M character, followed by using the import option under the File menu to import the newly generated fbx file from Blender.

Within Daz, using the graph editor, I try to copy from the newly imported fbx file and paste unto the G8M character, but the program will not paste the keys - see attached screenshots

As you can see, I have tried to copy and paste from more than one way, including CTRL + C, etc... but nothing will copy and paste unto the G8M character.

I have selected the original item and chosen to deselect, followed by paste, but no matter what I have tried, it will not paste onto the G8M ARKit eyeSquintLeft.

I have also tried the same for the G8M> Actor> Face Mojo> FACS Morphs> Eye Squint Left, but same result, no keys will paste from the copied keys of the imported fbx file.

I have also tried Edit> Figure> Lock> Unlock and Edit> Figure> Limits> Off - thinking that the G8M file is in some type of a read only mode, but to no avail.

As usual, I am posting this question in the morning, after working the graveyard shift last night, and I when I wake up later on today, I hope that someone has some suggestions.

    Otherwise, thanks in advance
