I've been keeping off G9 keeping with G8, but in the last year two G9 characters have been nice enough to attract my money. I admit I've bought more Victoria 3 characters in that time, but I have bought G9. And I only occasionally regret it. So, I'm in a similar, but opposite position. Regards, Richard.
I really like G9 alot. And I actually have a lot of morph packs for G8, for some reason I don't understand, because I barely have content for it. Like 3 clothes and two characters... LOL.. So, it just didn't make sense to me to buy G8 when everything coming out (and on sale) was G9. Plus I like G9 better. I feel like (with it's morph packs and a couple characters) it's just a better figure. I like it a lot!

The gif at the top of the Tafi newsroom gives a simple example using Victoria 9: https://www.maketafi.com/newsroom
It's a control not a "create art" button. I actually think Daz is at a massive competitive advantage if they can get features like that into studio. If they don't, when AI engines begin to give a user more control over fine-grained aspects of a scene's actor and begin to extrapolate 2D models into 3D projections that can manipulated at will and in a reusable fashion, then Daz is dead. But right now, they have a huge opportunity to grab the market for a quicker workflow backed by AI and protect the actual artists who model, texture and code content for Daz Studio. And because we're talking about additional controls into that content, it changes absolutely nothing for those who still want to fiddle about with interface sliders.
It's totally cool and still relies on the artist, although a pseudo-random function will likely be available the artist still has to be satisfied with the results.

Anthropology student Lin Mei was delighted to receive a fellowship from the Benjamin Button Society to study an isolated people in the remote village of Khatzmalobenchenk who were mysteriously aging backwards. No, thank you. I don't need a face only solution.
I need something like this:
Victoria 8 HD Add-On | Daz 3D
, but not for the Victoria character, but for the base Genesis 8 Female figure.You can use HD Add-Ons without the character.
And here's what I mean by that. These are all the G8.1 dev load with no changes except dialing in various HD add-ons.

After the Vick discussion I knew I would need to do a render of Victoria encountering her Rule 63 self, so here it is.

The set here is a special trick room I built for a story a couple of years ago and kept around simply because it was such a pain that I never wanted to have to set it up again. The circular area in the wall can either be a mirror or an open space with the flip of a switch, and the room is actually two rooms, one a mirror image of the other (or as close as I can make it--some furnishings insist on being shapes that don't cooperate with this idea).
This image, by the way, is the first time I have used bitwelder's G3/G8 -> G9 pose converter (it's been sitting around waiting for me to work up the courage to try it for months), and it works like a charm. https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-and-8-to-9-pose-converter
As noted in the Vick/Victoria comments elsewhere, Vick and Victoria are very different heights, and this is solely because of their Proportion Height slider defaults. Here they have both been set to a Proportion Height of zero, making them exactly the same height (and making she!Vic a bit taller than her default and making he!Vic a bit shorter.)
Also, he!Vic has has had his Genital Bulge turned up a fair bit because otherwise you can't actually tell he's got anything down there. This meant that his underwear had to have a smoothing modifier added to it. Apart from that, neither figure has any alterations the other doesn't have--their facial pose sliders are set exactly the same, etc.
Nicely done! Love your trick room.

Diomede's Notepad, Sketchpad, and Chilling PadIt is a New Year so new commitment to skills building. About 6 weeks ago, I gave myself another subscription to Marvelous Designer, ZBrush, and Substance Painter after letting them lapse. The programs have had updates since I tried to use them, but I reviewed some of my old tests and found the review very helpful. I still have a lot of trouble with ZBrush's terminology and interface (eg., tools are models, not functions!). I will be posting some skills building tests in this thread. If I am persistent and successful, I will offer a half-decent freebie clothing item, complete with various adjustment morphs and material presets, by the end of the month. For those of you familiar with my Brash and Moxie project, after I do a few freebies as tests, I will create special scifi uniforms and wardrobes for my lead actors. Brash is an interstellar Marshall, so at a minimum he needs a badge. I think we can spring for whole futuristic law enforcement uniform with custom badge, don't you? Moxie is a high muckity muck among the career civil service. While she does not need a uniform per se, I would like some custom futuristic office wear with logo to set her apart. The high muckity mucks could have some minimum office requirements like color scheme and sash, but give employee discretion within the standards. Moxie needs some sophistication. For the moment, I gather some related links for my skill building, before I try the more complex final goal.
Post on my old Marvelous Designer test for Genesis 1. Some minor changes to MD interface since I posted this, but still a useful review.

For some, I bought the recording through Daz3D. Others I participated live in DAL webinars. Here are some examples in the Daz3D store.
Here is a DAL course by Esha on rigging clothing in Daz Studio. https://www.daz3d.com/refined-rigging-clothing-case-studies
Here is a DAL course by Esha on texturing using Substance Painter. https://www.daz3d.com/texturing-clothing-and-props-expert-guide-tutorial-course

And here is a Marvelous Designer tutorial by DarkEdgeDesign offered in the Daz3d Store. This tutorial includes using ZBrush as part of the workflow in morphs for rigging. https://www.daz3d.com/marvelous-designer-redux-video-tutorial
And here is a Marvelous Designer tutorial by Fugazi offered in the Daz3d store. This is a vest so avoids some issues with sleeve underarms and skirt legs. But, it is much more affordable. https://www.daz3d.com/fg-marvelous-designer-to-daz-studio-video-tutorial
Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadI don't have Victor, but @Columbine said that about Vick's nipples:
columbine said:
Pax: Vick's nipples are actually in a different location. They're lower on the pectorals than they are if you try using Victoria's surfaces. You can see the change very clearly if you put Victoria's surface 1 on Vick instead of his own surface 1, then turn on his nipples so they stand up ... you get erect nipples where the areolae are NOT, and it looks very bizarre.

Found the log.
I didn't need the whole log, just the part where you tried the product
. Looking at the log, I don't see anything where it starts making the temporary HMap file. Did you get any dialog message? I see you apply the full setup suit. You select the "RSSY Genesis 8 Female Suit"? Then you selected the Briana HMap file and then executed the Apply action? Briana isn't a Daz file. Have you tried selecting a V7 HMap from a Daz product to see if that works first?
Ok so applying H Mat of Victoria 8 works, but how do I get a CUSTOM created Mat onto the model? Like for starters, who do save a custom model's mats to be a H Mat preset first?I would look elsehwere on how to save a Hierarchical Material Preset. The script works on custom ones as well but they need to be created correctly. It sounds like the Briana one is not.
I would load both a regular HMat and the Briana one into Notepad++ (if either looks like gibberish, it is because the .duf file has been compressed. Open the .duf in 7zip and then edit the file to see it). A regular one will refer to Genesis 8 Female in the header (the %20 is a space in HTML speak):
{
"file_version" : "0.6.0.0",
"asset_info" : {
"id" : "/People/Genesis%208%20Female/Characters/Girl%208/Materials/Iray/Girl%208%20All%20Maps.duf",
"type" : "preset_hierarchical_material",
Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadAfter the previous quick try at a V9 twin, I wanted a more natural looking Victor. Someone that looks like her, but not so identical. I just morphed the previous test version a bit here and there.
Victor and Victoria at home
Victoria's plotting something. I don't think she's impressed with a new brother taking the spotlight...
Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadLike Barbult, I too thought Vick looked very feminine in many of the promos, like Victoria playing dress up. So I felt that if one really needed a family resemblance, it makes sense to just use her morphs to get there.
As for the chest issue, what's stopping us using a G9 male body and her head morph? I decided to create a quick version of V9's twin brother, after seeing Columbine's test render. This was just very quick: I used Thalius's body morph here with V9's head morph and tweaked the head/neck just a tad for the test, made "Victor" a bit taller, changed the brows and used V9's male mats.Victor and Victoria
