I know today will be filled with Victoria 8 postings, but I wanted to point out something in Fast Grab today for less than $4: Ecomantics - Efficient Ecosystems. I bought this set 4 years ago and it works well in 3DL. These are billboards of grass, bushes, and trees you can assemble yourself or use the presets that combines them in a linear or circular scene. Today I tested it in Iray just letting the system do the conversion and it looks good. Note the individual blades of grass you see, much better than the usual flat textures you see for Iray. This Iray render is of one of the linear scene presets. It took 6 minutes to render. I did adjust the cement texture tiling in the X direction as it loaded stretched out (simply made tiling 7).

Only Genesis 1, 2 and 3 Byrdie (Vicky 4 doesn't count) :). I'm showing as having only two pro bundles, but I actually DO only have two pro bundles...I bought V5 and M5 together as single figures ;).

Victoria 4 has 62k....

Genesis has 19k... Genesis 1!!! G1 is more flexable then G8... G1... Just let that sink in for a second. Pick up on the pattern and its impossible to miss.

Genesis 1 was a huge leap ahead, but may have been too huge a leap. The fact that you can still stand a well made Genesis 1 character with anything released after  (without relying on HD morphs) is a testament to that.

Thank you. I doubt the Carrara V5 bundle will mean much, but 10% off is still a good discount, and even I'm impressed with V8 enough to purchase the Pro Bundle anyways. I'll give support a shot after I get home from work.

Definitely without a doubt, get the Platinum Club membership. Go for the quarterly to start with as it's a bit less expensive than the yearly, but you'll be stoked when you see prices on stuff. You'll get extra discounts on the DAZ Originals, the weekly PC items are under $5 and you'll get two coupons each month - one to spend $6 on DO's, and one to get $6 off a total of $18 for PA stuff and DO's. 

If you've already done that, get the Head Morphs and the Body Morphs for Genesis 8 female (which is free in your DAZ Studio). Genesis 8 Female base is hopeless without them. 

Oh and welcome to the "I need that new shiny thing, but I'm tight on my budget so can't buy it...but I CAN eat baked beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next two weeks, so I'll buy it anyway" club. :)

Well, if no-one else get's there first, it's something I might have to put together at some point - models are getting more complex too, Victoria in baked beans, female centaurs in mushy peas, mermaids will have to settle for soggy houmous or mashed potato and that leaves raspberry jam for the Minotaur (yes, I'm aware Houmous would be more culturally apt for the Minotaur, but raspberry jam on fish?).

Is there anyone else out there having problems with Victoria 8. I purchased the Pro bundle did a manual install,daz connect Install, and Daz download manager install. The figure is coming up as grey blocks. The clothing and such seem to load fine on thier own.

I have most  other pro bundles but not the V6 one and 5 I got with Carrara

Please forgive the Ignorance, but when they say 'backward compatable', could that mean that I can update my character which is a G1 Victoria 5 figure and have her look exactly the same, especially the face and she can still wear all the bits and bobs, some of which is very old?

I like Victoria 8's looks, but her outer eyebrows lack distinguishable strands, and that's a hassle. When I saw divamakeup's renders, I became covetous of V8's hand tendons; so, I went through the G3F HD add-ons I have, and I picked the most defined hand tendons I could (it was between Gia and Arabella; I picked Arabella 'cause she doesn't add a six-pack). I disabled limits and set it at 200%, and I'm OK now. However, I am still desiring an easier route to expressive expressions on G3F like I see on V8.

Thanks, @AprilYSH for including a G3 fit for Voss Hair. If only Vertigo Ponytail did likewise. The mid-month release doesn't work for me, as my Daz fund is replenished on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. I'll be back in a week or so.

hey guys, i'm a new guy and just started using daz like 3-4 days ago. I want to know if i should get victoria 8 pro bundle or not. I made a thread and people recommened me to first get familiar with daz by working with free stuff before buying anything but i was still confused as many free stuff also require you to have morphs. So i just saw victoria 8 pro bundle and i read if i get victoria 8 pro bundle i will get victoria 5,6,7 pro bundle free and victoria 8 starter bundle and other things too for free. i think if i buy victoria 8 i won't need to buy again anytime soon.

So what i want to know is if i right now just learn about daz and buy victoria like a month later will it still include other bundles or not and if i even get victoria 8 pro bundle will i still require other stuff to buy or it would be enough for now. thanks

Please keep in mind that even though you will get V5, V6 and V7 pro bundles for free if you buy V8's Pro Bundle, you will ALSO need to have the head, body and (expression) morphs for Genesis 1, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 as well or the Vickys might not work correctly. I'm not entirely certain about this, but I think you can have the base morphs without Vicky but not the other way around. Anyone?

I did some tests with G8 but not with the default shader - I used Juliette by Vykhtoria (available on the Renderosity store), a few hair props by Out of Touch (some problems with long hair) and some clothing from different vendors (one crash while auto-fitting). It did work but right now I'm not going to upgrade - I'm using a mix of V6 (my favorites) and V7 characters and can't justify shelling about $96 (Pro Bundle and a few other things - because I bought 3 Victoria's pro bundle I get an extra 30% discount).

I didn't get the orange banner but I got the extra discount when I added V8 to my basket.

Right. The sale thread has discussed this from the get-go, because some of us were getting discounts without the banner. Mine just showed up a few minutes ago. 

The special offers often focus on related content, so if a person's purchases have nothing to do with Victoria Pro Bundles then it's not surprising  they don't get a banner and more discounts. I've been left out of a few myself, but it's logical IMO so I understood.  Hopefully they will reward people for the things they purchased with a special promotion, when something related comes up. I agree, it would be nice if they would tier the discounts based on what has been spent, but that way has its flaws too.  

I had all the V5 Pro stuff that came with Carrara, but that didn't count as purchasing it. Still got 20% off for having V6 and V7 Pro bundles.

Charlie- if it doesn't show up sometime today, check with tech support. I didn't get a pop up. It was in my site messages. Also, try clearing the cart, then putting her back in, along with a few add-ons to see if the discounts show up then. It could very well be a gltich.

Well I've hard refreshed, no banner, no messages. Mods, would you mind telling them that some people who are getting the discounts (or WOUILD BE if they shopped) don't know it? That certainly changed what I bought.

I also own everything in the Victoria 5 Pro Bundle, but not the Bundle itself.... So not counted toward discount.

After that, buy the V8 bundle, make sure you have the V5, V6, and V7 bundles in the cart and they are free when you buy V8.

Third purchase should be the morphs and expressions. Make sure you use the DAZ Original coupon code on this order for another $6 off.

 

Edit: yes, the morphs will get an additional 30% off, for a total of 51%, because they are also DAZ Originals. Don't use the coupon with the V8 order, because the coupons get messed up when they are used on orders that include free items.

What I did is I put V8, V7 and V5 all in my cart with the PC membership

with just the victoria's my total was like $85

Once I added the PC+, my total was $83 :)

I'll be perfectly honest. I'm just not all that thrilled with Victoria 8. It's not because of the figure itself --I have nothing against the advancements of the figure. I'm just tired of Autofit, conforming clothes, no dynamics and a complete lack of animation friendly tools --no offense to Animate2, Keymate and Graphmate --all of which could use some overhauling. They keep making advancements on the figure, but everything else about DAZ Studio is largely ignored and I find myself looking at other applications because of it. These days I spend more time wishing for advancements to the platform and not advancements to the figure. Just from my personal point of view --until the platform changes I don't really see myself re-buying all the Victoria 8/Genesis 4 stuff. To me, the money is better spent on softwares like Marvelous Designer or Syflex  and MDD/Alembic exports to other packages that allow for far greater flexiblity/control. I'm tired of NO PHYSICS, NO Improvements to VIEWPORT PERFORMANCE, NO STRAND BASED HAIR, and NO ANIMATION CONTROL RIGS, so until that changes I doubt I will be doing much more in DAZ other than creating figures or applying animations and exporting them to somewhere else to rig or render.  I might get a new figure, but I still get the same old headaches when it comes to working, and I'm really not keen on continuing the cycle. 

Wow. For the most part, those are my thoughts exactly. 

Though for the physics part I'm very impressed with VWD. I'd love to see that fully integrated into Studio though.

Keep in mind, there is a new generation, but you can still keep and use the previous generations in conjunction WITH all the "new and shiny."  Just because Victoria 8 moves in doesn't mean she can't be rendered right along side your prefered Victoria 7 character.  I know people (me included) have spent on Merchant Resources, tools etc.....  I plan on using them - I bought them.  :)  But I'll still be playing with the new generation as well and adding to it....well, because I am a total nut over shiny too!  lol  (bad Kat !!)
