  • Why G9 is not good for blender (or any other 3d app)

    Lots of great informations about animation workflow  in this thread especially explanation from @benniewoodell and our mighty @wolf359 .

    I think I`m lucky enough ever getting " the old school max 5 animation training "  in college . In those years we didnt had acces to robust animation tools like we have right now , so there is no way to learn animation without doing manual ways .

    Except NLA animation stuff , there is no big differences between what MAX 5 dope sheet and curve editor offer with what we`ve seen in recent animation softwares 

    But TBH , unless there is specific request,  this day I will go using any motion data transfer if possible ( although Basic knowledge still needed to make simple or extreme adjustments)  Having special rigs to suit our animation styles or what we want to achieve much preferable . Thanks god , right now there are so many cheap services to built or modifying custom rig for you , especially if you`re using Blender .

    All daz product still useful for presentation purpose .  I believe Its hard for Client to say no if we`re showing them  couple of DAZ items and  still renders as rough idea how the animation projects - Short animation ads will be look in final stage

  • Genesis 8 or 8.1 shapes on genesis 9?

    this may be the most straightforward method to transfer shapes (from jcade) that transfers all morphs at once in just 5 steps. but it comes with the limitations of the transfer tool as mentioned (no jcms, jagged eyelids, wrong teeth/eye placement, etc). if @jag11 or a PA can fix these issues that'd be awesome.

    1. load g8/g9 dev mode

    2. dial in hidden morph "Genesis 8 (fe)male" on g9

    3. move in g8's thighs 6 -6 to match g9

    4. transfer tool with these options

    or instead of "all", choose your favorites

    5. adjust rigging to shape and ERC freeze for each morph

    Yes but found that the script that's provided did a better job for what I was trying to accomplish.

    n.b. be very certain that the morph name you gave it, is not the same as 'any' morph named in G9 as well as previous morphs for the eyes.

  • Neko model missing textures

    I confirm that Neko HD causes an instant crash when trying to Iray Preview or Render.

    - I resaved all jpg textures. Resaved all Tiff : crash.

    - I converted Tiff to png and replaced all corresponding textures on the model : crash.

    - I used the slider to dial the full morph rather than load the character, to avoid using the geograft eyes just in case. But as soon as I applied textures : crash.

    As it's not a material issue, it's probably more a shader issue.

    I won't test further because it's 4:30AM and there are too many things to test with constant crashing before I can pinpoint the problem. But there is definitely something wrong with this model.

    It is unusable as it was sold.

     

    Submit a ticket about that    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    The first way you mention, that is what I normally do. For this vest I chose wardrobe/shirt.
    For my attempt with the template in T.U., I was using the full bodysuit, tight. {because there isn't a shirt one to choose}

    The 2nd method I'll put on my list of things to try.

  • Genesis 9 clothing questions & answers

    I had continual crashes of the Transfer Utility with a template when I had Marvelous Designer still open. After I closed it, the crashing stopped. I don't know if MD had some file locked or was just using resources or what. If you have it open, try closing it, and see if that helps.

    The resulting G9 figure(below) has some glitches(chest/shoulders) due to high vertex density interpolation, but the results are promising.

    Si ho visto i joint per torcere braccia e gambe... sono completamente diversi (twist arm/leg) e non sono più a metà dell'arto.

    Però se devo usarlo devo caricare anche un G8, posarlo e poi trasferire la posa... se PowerPose funzionava era meglio e più rapido (anche perchè i G9 sono più bassi e tozzi dei G8 e dunque ci saranno imprecisioni nella conversione)

    Just started using brightness manager, love it. On my first run, completly whited out the morph's eyes. Anyone know how to correct this. Tryed replacing, however eyes whites or conjunctiva stays washed out.     thanks

  • Trimming a dForce skirt via scripting

    Hi, all. I know it's bad manners to bump, but I'm still completely stuck on this and I don't know what to do.

    I have a freebie morph set that I want to release for a certain skirt, and it depends on this script being able to come together. The skirt comes in eight different lengths, all of them different assets. I can't redo the work I did on all eight of them, particularly because the morph changes the length of each facet so they don't match up anymore anyways, but I can instruct users to load the longest skirt and then run a script to cut it to their desired length. Because this is supposed to accompany a morph set, I can't recreate all of the facets, because then the morphs will be lost.

    The only thing I was able to discover is that there is an alternate copyFrom method that is documented in the scripting center, and it can be used instead of the SDK-only makeCopy. It seems to do pretty much the same thing. You can cut the skirt, delete it and reload the original. But if you cut the skirt, save to a scene, and reload the scene, there's no DzShape and each bone has a bounding box-sized gray box. Just like where I was before. Latest script is attached once more. As you can see, I'm officially in "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" territory. I'm completely out of ideas.

    Again, all of the steps I'm trying to do work just fine if I do them manually via the GUI. The skirt is cut, you can delete it and reload it, you can save it to a scene and load that, and morphs are preserved. So should I be scripting the GUI somehow???

    Is there a point where I should just make a ticket? Is that something I can do for this sort of thing? If I can't fix this, then I just can't release this freebie.

    I logged a CS ticket last Friday. No reply at all. Today I had an update in DIM. Installed it. Fingers still deforming.

    Was just made aware that this was an issue, unfortunately for some reason ERC freeze did not stick to the body morph, which ment the bones did not move with the morph causing the distortion. This has been fixed and should be with you as soon as Daz can get it to you. HUGE appologies. Should you ever have any issues with any of my product PLEASE drop me a message so i can get on it straight away.  CBx
