The only negative I can see you not getting her, Jason, is a lot of characters will use her in some quanitity..

 

True,..I agree, it's good to have as many characters as possible for morph options. I got a banner in DAZ offering 40% off Victoria 8 so I'll have to consider it.

I'm just concerned with the direction DAZ is going with their characters, I hope Aiko 8 doesn't end up looking like Mei Lin 7. LOL ;)

 

The base character is Genesis 8 and she looks (to me) about 20?  Certainly a lot younger than Victoria 8, and quite maliable.  Please don't forget Victoria hasn't been a "base figure" since V4.

Yeah because she’s not a base figure anymore, so I’m on the fence if I should get her. I don’t want to waste money on a character I can’t use. Victoria 4 was the queen of the scene for a long time for me when I use(d) Poser.  But I’m moving back to DAZ because I want to use Genesis 3.

I haven’t had a chance to fully check out GF8base character yet.

I agree with you,  I really liked Hitomi and Aiko 3 they were spot on. I would like to see updated versions of these with all the features of the new characters like facial bones and power pose ability. I like Bethany too, dial her weight back a bit…ME LIKE ;)

No offense to anyone regarding age but I’m in this to make money, and I have spent literally thousands upon thousands of dollars on content here at DAZ and elsewhere, and want to make it known what I want, (Likes and Dislikes) and hope for since I am a consistent customer.

I just can’t foresee V8 being usable as of yet due to her appearance. Maybe when they come out with some super hot morphs I’ll change my mind.

Wow, that is really really cool!

I'd noticed that the last few character morphs which DAZ brought out for G3F were looking a bit older than their G2F counterparts. As well as some of their new launches like Ophelia. Most people seemed to be all right with that. That Victoria is following suit seems just to indicate that we may be due for a series of grown women, rather than post-adolescents. I've no problem with that, and Zev0's growing up morphs seem to be high on his priority list. You don't need to send the base *all* the was to childhood, after all. And plenty of the add-on characters in the stores look young enough. 

As for this elusive "beauty" that everyone is flapping about. V8 isn't the first of the character bases that DAZ has released in the past six months to a year which fall nicely into the "character actress" mode either. Monique7 is definitely a character actress. So are a number of the others too. I'd cast that woman in Divamakeup's last post up there an one of the characters in any of my illustrations that called for an attractive adult female. Plastic dolls are not what I'm looking for.

And incidentally, those renders showcase one of the reasons why I keep snarling about wanting at least one render in the promos *without the frapping makeup*. She is *much* more attractive without it.

There are plenty of women who spend their youth fading into the background and only really become strikingly attractive once they reach middle age. It's not just about finally finding the hairstyle that suits you and learning new make-up techniques (or realising you don't need it and abandoning it altogether), it's about acquiring that 'can do' confidence that only comes from 'have done', and about shaking off the 'I'm the centre of the universe' attitude that many doting parents unwittingly give their kids and realising the other people are important too. It's a lot harder to make Victoria (or any other 3D model) 'beautiful' than making her look good - what you do with her matters too.

There's a thread going on in the Commons about the looks of Victoria 8 that have me (and a couple others I've talked to) down right sick. I wanted to talk about it here, as well, as this is more of my spot to be able to talk about stuff that disturbs me. Many comments in that thread make me physically ill. Some saying Victoria 8 looks half a century old. Others saying she looks like a "drag queen". Many saying she's "ugly". When it comes to sexism (and ageism against women) in our society it's like we're going backwards. I feel physically sick with what's happening to women in our society, and how many people are saying such gross things simply because of a character that doesn't look like she's a teen or someone barely in their 20s. 

FIFTY years old? REALLY? How often do people who are half a century old look like this - without a TON of plastic surgery?

Not that there's anything wrong with being 50, of course. But what the..?

I can't tell you how distressing it is, as a woman, to see so many toxic and damaging sexist comments in that thread. All the "ugh she's ugly" "oh she looks so old" "ugh she looks like a drag queen" "take down the renders of her, they hurt my eyes" comments are so damaging, sexist, and ageist against women. That thread is a microcosm of how we view and treat women in our society.

 It's completely ok to not like the look of a character, however, some of the comments in that thread are downright disturbing. Women deserve better than what we are doing. Our daughters, sisters, and mothers deserve better.

I personally would prefer they model a youthful character with the option to add age. Sometimes It’s hard to get the base character look removed and morphed out to what I want, especially with how much older she looks, that would require a lot of work to make her more aesthetically pleasing for my needs, that’s just me though.

My greatest disappointment with Rune was the "implant" look to her breasts. For a figure that was marketed as a warrior woman, the implants just turned me off. I bought her anyway hoping to change the shape, but it's very hard to make them look natural.

As for Victoria 8 - it's MUCH easier to make a stylized morph from a realistic one than it is to make a realistic morph from a stylized one. Hopefully people will understand this and the vendors can capitalize on that. Actually, they already seem to be - most of the V8 characters I've seen so far have been really stylized and so I've left them in the store ;). I have the G3 line for stylized, and even moreso - G2.

+10.  I love Rune.  But her breasts were a huge disappointment.

I was on the fence about V8 but now that I have her she is quickly growing on me.  I look for characters who have features that are different than what I already have and I like the character in her face.  And honestly, its a darn good thing we don't all think that only one type of person is beautiful or no one would be attracted to the people who don't live up to that ideal.  I always thought that different people liked a wide variety of different looks or no one would ever get married.  Back in the 20's Twiggy was very popular and all of a sudden very thin waif like women with no breast were considered the ideal.  A hundred years ago or so (don't quote me on that, but a long time ago, and far far away....) Heavy women who were well rounded and had some weight were considered the ideal.  So, I don't know what drives those likes/dislikes but it seems to change regularly and often and depending on where you live and how you grew up, what kind of stuff you are exposed to.

Hmm, I was just looking at Kiara HD. That cutoff line from light to dark on the feet and hands looks too sharp to me, aka, there is no gradient. I just Googled to compare African American hands, and even with sharp lighting, most of the hands have a blending area. Curious if anyone rendered her, with different results?

Edit- For example- look at the last thumbnail, where she is standing, and look at the hand on your left, the index finger. Then go to the image before that, and look at the feet. The first one on the second row, that light area comes up way too high on the soles, to the sides/top of the foot! (It's up on part of the back of the foot too in that image.)

I've not bought any.

I have far too many already. Changing the shape is easy and something I always do; I start with base female, get a look I'm after, then dial in small amounts of characters to see if they add anything, and leave in what works.

... For me, using a character at its default is only ever good to test how it works; if that is all I'm going to do, well I may as well save myself the cash and admire the renders others do including the PA. It isn't so much about my vision then as other's visions.

From renders I’ve seen, in my opinion she looks anywhere from 42 to 55 years old. (Not that that's a bad thing) but for me I need youthful anime type characters with an Asian aesthetic. So I usually have to buy a ton of morphs, skins, and eyebrows and do lots of mods to get the look I need, (Equals lots of money to do this)

Not a fan of the “surprise eyebrows” But I am liking the better bends and Power Pose options for the body and especially the face.

I'm trying to install the Aiko figure but am completely and utterly lost.

I bought the Anime and Manga bundle which had both Aiko4 and victoria 4.2, and installed them through the install manager. However, when I go to figures, only victoria appears--I don't see Aiko or any of the others. 

I keep seeing references to "injecting" morphs, but can't find anything helpful about how to do that.

Do I need to purchase Victoria Morphs ++ separately? I can't find a single website telling me how to do this for some reason and am at a total loss. 

I loaded Victoria 8 and then tried to apply some of the iray makeup materials and not one of them will load, the mats to change the eye color worked as did the 3delight ones.  I also tried some from Rebekah character and they loaded onto V8 also. Anyone experienced this or can tell me what I am doing wrong that they don't load?

Hello all,I was just wondering if there are any plans by Daz to incorporate some sort of plugin for animation or a possible update to AnImate 2 for all Generations of Genesis and especially Victoria 8,Seems like such a shame to have such a beautiful model and not be able to animate her:(Theres Iclone but in  my opinon the loss of model detail isnt worth it..I have faith in the people at Daz and I know they could pull it off and I think most Daz users would pay a pretty penny for a awesome animation plugin,I know I would whith in reason:))With all the current new tech from Nvidia it seems crazy we dont have a Daz complete with great animation capabilities.Until then I guess its Puppeteer and good ole keyframing-Mr Hopefull:))

When I baked the materials, I left the 'Bleed Factor' at 0.01 and 'Downsize to Cut Off' unchecked, would that have made any difference? They look like newer options than were available when the guide was written (a 4.9.4 feature maybe).

What guide? I found a very old video. Is that what you mean? Or something else? 'Cause if you found an actual guide for the Map Transfer utility, I'd love a link to it! Thanks.

I bought this right away, sir. To date, it is the second item with "Genesis 8" in the product name that I've spent money on. I don't expect to get much else, at least, not until you release the same for V4... (happy dance!)

Is a Victoria 6 version forthcoming? Most of my favourite G2F skins are in that format.

The V6 version has just passed testing, so should be along in a few weeks
