Genesis 8 Female (G8F) is being advertised as the most compatible Genesis yet. I have to agree. Among other things, G8F and Genesis 3 Female (G3F) share the same UVs. It is a simple matter to apply most G3F character material presets to G8F. However, all of the Daz "7" figures have their own, unique UVs which G8F does not have access to—at this time, anyway. Edit: RedzStudio has since released products for both the male and female Daz "7" figure UVs for their corresponding gender. See links above, in the OP.

The answer to using those materials on G8F is the Map Transfer utility. Yet there is vitually no official documentation on how to use this very useful tool, and most of what you can find via Google is old, and sometimes more confusing than helpful.

One of these models is Rune 7, the other is Genesis 8 Female. I followed Redz tutorial from the Morphs from G3 to G8 to create a shape morph of Rune for G8F and the Map Transfer utility to convert Rune's materials and created a complete set of presets from those materials. Pretty much the same steps as this tutorial. (I actually started the tutorial with Rune as the example, then decided more people were likely to have V7 than Rune 7.)

The Map Transfer utility is simple and easy to use. So simple, I think, that once a person knows how to use it, they forget how intimidating it can be to one wondering how in the bleep to set those grayed-out options! This tutorial provides simplified step-by-step instructions that will have newbies and not-so-newbies alike feeling like a Map Transfer expert in short order.

By the end of this tutorial, you will have a set of usable material presets* for the new Genesis 8 Female (G8F). I will be using Victoria 7 for this tutorial, but it doesn't matter which "7" female you use, it's the same proceedure. (Instructions are for computers running a Windows operating system as I don't have a Mac.)

This tutorial is broken up into parts, chapters if you like, focusing on specific steps to 1) convert the materials from one figure to another when the UVs are different, 2) apply the converted materials to the target figure, and 3) create presets for easy access to these materials for the target figure. These "chapters" are presented in separate comments below, making it easy to share a link to a specific chapter, or bookmark where you left off. There are also "Intermission" chapters to give you a mental breather, where I share some of my "secrets" to making all of this easier and faster.

Nothing happens in a vacuum, and I'd like to thank Daz for the youtube video, (which made perfect sense after I figured out how the utility worked,) and Sickleyield for her excellent tutorial on transfering M4Gens to M5Gens. It made my eyes glaze over with information specific to the gens, but also pointed me in the right direction for puzzling out how to make the Map Transfer work.

*This tutorial does not cover the anatomical elements, as I do not have Victoria 8. Once you've completed the tutorial, if those materials are important to your art, you should have enough experience to work it out.

Well, just, arrrgh! It must have been something with the computer that got fixed when I shut it off, because it's not doing it now. In fact, it looks darn good! But... the teeth were this awful shade of dark brown with speckles in the viewport, and rendered to a sickly shade of black! Now I wish I had saved one of those renders! lol

I mean, I'm glad it's not a real problem, but now I've said something... so embarrassing...

I like time-savers, the issue I have with this, is that one of things I like about the morph dials sold, is that when I start tweaking there aren't a load of 'tweaked' dials already in existence that I have to work through.

It might be one of those items I buy, see how I manage with it before I decide; we'll see I s'pose.

I really like your easy teeth - tons of dials, and they can get in the way, but they serve a specific purpose so when I'm doing something else, I can ignore them.

By utilitsing the main morphs, I'll have to take into consideration that they have a function in addition to what I might be wanting to achieve - if I'm explaining it sufficiently clearly.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Personally I like to have lots of morphs to tweak and play around to make a character unique, as much as possible.

Well that offsite commercial script that is NOT VWD doesn't seem to work anymore with the latest DAZ Studio Beta and the author didn't answer a request for whether they have validated their script for the latest version of DAZ Studio Beta.

As far as the bikini women & such products why not just filter and sort by Top Sellers according to different genres and artists to see what really sells?

I'm having trouble trying to identify a figure used in Zeddicss' Z Reckless - Morph Dial and One-Click Expressions for Victoria 8. I know the face morphs might be pretty impossible to figure out (although suggestions are welcome!) since it doesn't look like the base V8 figure, but I really wanted to know what texture was used for the character. I've been trying to identify her by the marks on her cheek but I've had no luck. Does this figure looks familiar to anyone? Thanks!

I think summer activities may be part of it too. People spend money going on vacations (or weddings, right?) and may be doing things other than Daz in the summer. (This Florida gal is happily indoors in the summer rendering LOL.)

Not related to poses, but I was looking at the characters for Genesis 8, the characters have been Ise, Maliah,  Aine, and Kiara.  There's also LY Arden, Nenana Alien, First Class Faces HD, Fane Hair and Character,  Keri, FWSA Danica, Millicent,  EJ Vera, Ana Lucia, Pix LIliana, Jiao, VYK Ruby, Joana, and then the bundles start. (Hope I didn't miss a character.) 

I haven't bought any of these, for one reason or another. Some look similar to other characters by the vendor(s) in Genesis 3, one looks a bit masculine to me,  one is very muscular and I just don't need that anytime soon (but so nice to see that variation), and Jiao and VYK Ruby were wishlisted as possibilities.

I'm frankly tickled to see vendors still releasing the Genesis 3 characters and items, it's a smart move. Please continue!

BTW, look at Fast Grab, I think they added items last night. I picked up Nathy's Swimsuit (looks good from the front, the back is too skimpy for my books), Metal Collection (Vol 1) from there.

So decided to do a render of Sultan's Pool (Rendo)  to check the closeup of the water.  Again, everything was Uber Based, the water shader was used, and the bump of the building was lowered to around 7 (down from 21 for a distant shot.)

This is with Mitchell filtering, noise filter enable On, noise degrain filtering 1 / radius 2 / blur difference .20 and pixel filter radius 1.26

Daz 3D Inc. gave me a coupon for Victoria 8.  I wish I could buy her but I need to buy a new internal SATA hard drive.

A character can be 'packed" months before its release. Wouldn't be surprised if other G8 character will be out in july.

It depends; sometimes DAZ will buy stuff from PAs and hold it for the bigger sales, but most of the time they get it out as soon as they can after it gets through QA. And with the Iconic Characters I suspect DAZ doesn't commission a new one until they have released the previous one, so they could have one going through QA now for release along with PA created content that uses the shapw in some way, like the ones that come in the bundle with Victoria do.

I'm really new to these products so apologies if this has been asked in this thread already, but I'm wondering...I want to pick up the Victoria 3 -> G3F product https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-special-edition-victoria-3 and I'm curious if you can use the various iray converters on them, such as v3digitimes iray converters or the N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution one. I have absolutely no knowledge about geografts or ever used them, so i'm unsure whether they'll work with the converters. 

It seems to work with V3Digitimes Generation 4 converter, but only for applying the shaders. I can't get the Color, Gloss etc. presets to work, so I had to adjust Gloss manually. I've also tried Anagenessis 2 (Genesis 1 version, which use to work with V4), that looks totally weird. Maybe if you apply the Anagenessis shaders manually it will work.

Amd even with the original Genesis figure, Michael 5 didn't come out for several months after the release of Victoria 5, so it's not really significantly different.

I see there is a new Legacy UVs for Genesis 8 / Victoria 4 in the store. I already have the G3/V4 version though, so if G8 shares UV with G3 can I use that one instead?
