Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)
Hello Richard Haseltine,
I could not find the DAZ Stusio - Roadmap section, so I will write here. Please tell me you can plan such an improvement for DAZ Studio how to add support for the second UV-Set?
I'm a lowly member of the forum team, we don't get told what Daz is planning. I would love to see the ablity to set the UV set per image, rather than per surface, and I think I have a feature request in to that effect but I suspect it's a big enough architectural chnage that - even if Daz does decide to implement such a feature - it will have to wait for DS 5.
Nah, too modest, Richard. I suspect a lot of forum members address questions (and complaints) to you because they assume that you have more credibility and influence with the developers than the real "lowly" forum members. I would add that your advice is always appreciated even if some of the moderation decisions are not.

[Released] Camera View Optimizer [Commercial]Hi there,
Thanks for the interest in the product
In Daz 4.12.0.86 using either the Delete option or Hide option will help as less memory is consumed by the GPU during rendering when nodes are hidden. For those who are interested as to how I came to this conclusion, I've tested this as follows using Andrey Pestryakov's excellent forest scene and with TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.21.0 open
- Loaded up DAZ
- Loaded up the scene and chose Camera 1
- Ran the optimizer with Hide option selected
- Rendered the scene and noted the memory usage of the GPU
- Close DAZ completely
Steps 1 to 5 were repeated for Delete option, and repeated once more without the optimizer (i.e. step 3 was skipped)
Here are my results. (YMMV)
Without any optimization : Usage was 3.24Gb
With non visible nodes hidden : Usage was 2.94 Gb
With non visible nodes deleted : Usage was 2.93 Gb
Hope this answers your question.
Maybe your example wasn't such a good one because, for me, reducing from 3.24 to 2.94 is not much of a VRAM saving. I'm also surprised that hiding is almost as good as deleting but I need to try this for myself (I have 4.11 and 4.12 beta). I don't like deleting because just trying to undo the delete - especially with characters - invariably ends up with something that is not identical to what was deleted. I usually resort to saving a character as a scene subset before deleting.
In my experience, usually it is characters with all those texture maps that eat up most of the VRAM. I often try to mitigate this by hiding off-camera objects but prop geometry doesn't have much of an impact.
Valley And Hills pollycount?Hmm...I am on the fence on a 1660ti versus a RTX 2060 laptop, due to price and performance. Is the 1660ti not going to work with iray?
Could you please link to a reliable source for this information.
I only know that my video cards GTX 960 and GTX 760 did not give a performance increase compared to the CPU in 4.12. I do not have the opportunity to check the video cards 10xx, I did not have them.
The memory requirement for non-RTX cards has inceased, if renders were previously done with OptiX Prime off. Nothing (other than the ability to switch OptiX Prime off) has been disabled in the version of Iray included with 4.12 compared to 4.11 or 4.10. If the scenes were marginal for memory in 4.10 then it is possible theya re dropping out in 4.12, but it's not a general issue of their being disabled across the board.
Valley And Hills pollycount?Nvidia disables support for older graphics cards for Iray of newer versions. Therefore, it is recommended to use new video cards for Daz Studio 4.12 and Iray.
As for the rendering time, now I'm using the RTX 2080 SUPER video card. The viewport spins perfectly with this video card even when all meshes are turned on.

I love your products I think i have purchased most you have release & no offense but I find this statement very disturbing for my future using daz as a hobby going forward. Because NVIDIA has disabled features & Support for GTX over RTX card so moving forward its recommended to upgrade to RTX gpu''s,??? Unfortunately I purchased 2 - expensive 1080ti GTX SC cards a little over year ago, so in order to continue forward to use a newer version of Daz Studio 4.12 or any of the new Iray products that are to be released for 4.12 its now recommended to buy new RTX Super clock gpu's to use a newer versions of Daz Studio 4.12.... Well heck no wonder daz keeps falling back to CPU for renders & Well that plainly just sucks!!! Looks like my purchasing days are numbered when it comes to using daz studio Iray then
WOW that is going to exclude a lot of us. Glad I have already pretty much stopped shopping here, this is just another reason, I also feel that it ought to be highlighted a bit if Daz products aren't going to able to be rendered in GPU with anything olsder than your 20 series people really should be being told.

OUCH! - how am I just learning this? I am so out of the loop. Is this widely known and discussed? In any case, hope cooler heads prevail and some sort of support is found.
nah just don't try to support Nvidia using DAZ studio iray
Octane render exists if you must otherwise export to Blender and use Eevee that works with other graphics cards or Twinmotion and UE4 like I do lately though I have a Nvidia card, Eevee actually sees my onboard AMD graphics too!

Valley And Hills pollycount? It'll be high. It looks lovely and I always get the urge to pay up. The one scene I do have simply cannot render in GPU even though it's 6Gb. The results are amazing.
But... I have FlowScape (FS) where I can create my own landscape, whether it be large or small. Admittedly getting DS & FS to work together is not as easy as it could be, but there are ways (Backgrounds in DS or DS obj export and then obj import into FS). The rendering is FS is not as good as iRay in DS. However, the thing that swings it for me is the fact FS costs less than a single discounted Andre Pestryakov scene and it can be different every time.
Valley And Hills pollycount?I hope someone can tell us the pollycount for https://www.daz3d.com/valley-and-hills by @Andrey Pestryakov because it looks massive. There are two versions included but I'm not clear on what they offer.
Forest Superior - by Andrey PestryakovWhen I load the item from the Environments section in Smart Content, I get the error message: 'The following files could not be found.'
Has anyone foudn a solution for this? I've tried reinstalling the content several times with no success.
Thank you very much!
Medieval Lands to 3DL?Hello,
I hope it's okay to post in this thread, because the last post is around a month back. I also purchased "Medieval Lands"
and I also want to render the scene in 3delight, mostly because I want to render Images with the ToonCam from
the Linerender 9000 product.I try to convert the ground materials with Andrey's ML matGround 3Delight script, however the process fails with the
message, that two files can not be found:runtime/textures/pine grove/pg-matgroundl1-h.jpg and
runtime/textures/pine grove/pg-matgroundl5-h.jpg
Does anyone know if these files are bundled with another product, or if they can be (legally) downloaded or if they
must be somehow created? Thanks in advance.
Best regardsHi! Yup I got the same error message. However the grounds seems to render just fine with the right look, so I didn't bother to dig into it:) AFAIK there are no such files so maybe the script had some minor flaw or typo?
Hello,
Apparently I have forgot to add these textures to the archive, because they are used only for 3D material and in the original package for Iray they are missing.
Now I have add these textures in the archive.Ah, ok tks a lot:)
Edit:Tested it and now it loads correctly:) This is what I call True Support, tks again!
Show us your 3Delight rendersThank you :-) After character creation (arranging the 'curls' on the kami was pesky!) it was the lilypads that took the most time... kept rendering out glaringly green, and it didn't seem to matter what I did to the texture or lighting. After the fact, I recalled a green fill light off to one side... but I ended up nudging the tone in postwork.
Pestryakov's Nature Lake was the base set, with the background plane and a few willows borrowed from Stonemason's Willow Lake, some grassy knolls from Deepwood Gorge by Shaaramuse3D, and the lilypads from Nature Grotto, also Pestryakov. Assorted other plants and bits from other sets.
Well done!

When did the current flash sale start?Did anyone catch the starting time of the current (Andrey Pestryakov, Crybaby25, Collective3D) flash sale?
I popped in around 5:40pm and saw it. "Test shopped" and through the magic of stacking discounts I ended up with everything in the flash sale being 82% off or more. So, thinking somewhere along the lines of "I don't know how long it lasts or how much of that time has already gone past, but flash sales probalby start and end on the hour, so there's a chance it might end in 20 minutes. Better get moving".
So, I "power shopped" for 15 minutes and stocked up on a whole bunch of landscapes, environments, buildings, neighborhoods, etc. (and yes, a couple of today's new items, and some featured artist items and a couple of fast grab, too. All in all, 44 items) and prepared to check out at 5:55. It went fine, got a bunch of good stuff at great prices (by my standards, this was the best day of the PA sale. Especially since I paid for it with money I'd gotten at 20% off in the first days of the sale, which basically made the flash sale 86% off). But I digress.
So, sometime after 6, I refreshed. A little less rushed, I reviewed my purchase from a few minutes before and concluded "yeah, nothing really needs to be returned, I did OK" and then checked to see if there was either a new flash sale or if the old one was still going on. Old one was still going on, so I shopped some more, but more leisurely and ended up with another 14 items. All in all, a good shopping day.
Then 7:00 came and went. Then 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00, and the flash sale is unchanged. Why can't they put an "ends at 8:00" in the corner of the sale? Or pull an Amazon and give it a doomsday clock "sale ends in 1 hour 12 minutes"? But I digress, again.
So I'm curious about when it started (which someone should know) when it will end (which I guess I won't find out until it ends) and what comes next.
Am I the only person that this sort of thing drives bonkers?
