What Upcoming Daz Original Genesis 8 Character Are You Waiting For?
New item listing Stephanie 8 in supported shapes:
Goth Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)
I wonder if this is Stephanie 8 standing next to Josie in one of the promo renders
Here is the Goth Outfit with the Stephanie 8 body shape dialed in.
I'm hoping not, because it looks like another Thorne character. Nothing against Thorne, but I'm just not into the highly stylized look.
Laurie
Same. I want a Stephanie more in line with Victoria except girl next door.
What Upcoming Daz Original Genesis 8 Character Are You Waiting For?I wasn't really planning on investing in this generation. Didn't care for Victoria but got Olympia to get the other Olympias. Michael was okay but didn't like his bundles and already owned the previous base figures.
But I'm tempted to get the Stephanie 8 pro bundle. (Loved her S5 pro bundle, it's my most used one. I only have her S6 starter bundle, not too fond of her S6 skin but love her shape.)
I also would like Aiko 8, Lilith 8, Mei Lin 8, Darius 8, Hiro 8, and Freak 8. Mostly for the pro bundle discount. Hopefully they'll all look nice, if they're made/released.
Sexy Skinz - Lace Bodysuits for Genesis 3 Female(s) - product requirement questionSexy Skinz - Lace Bodysuits for Genesis 3 Female(s) lists Victoria 7 as a required product. Does anyone know if V7 is actually necessary?
Thanks!

Clean lines. Creative background. Very nice.
Rather than ask, I'll assume that you are using a filter(s) that I don't own yet.

Turning off HD on Adrienne HD character?Adrienne for Victoria 6 has no HD on/off slider? Other HD characters I have have this option. Is there a way to turn it off on this particular model? Render times differ drastically(using 3delight).I lowered Render SubD to 1 and still no change. I load Lilith 6,T pose,no hair,no clothes, simple lighting, hit render......bam..2 minutes and done. Load Olympia 6, same settings and poof....2 minutes. Load Adrienne, hit render and poof.....pop....um...pow? 37 minutes. Does anyone have this character and if so, is there an option to turn off HD?
Thunderbolt by Pretty 3DUnderstood. Nonetheless, the new version is not a repaired version i.e... something didn't work properly and is now patched; it is a version with a new functionality i.e. iRay. You have the product already and sound happy enough that you use it. It is reasonable to ask you to pay for added functionality since you are already getting value from the product. It is not defective. In your analogy, Adobe Photoshop or other software don't charge for changes within a single version (going from version 5.1 to 5.3 which patch functionality) but do charge from going from 5.0 to 6.0 when new features are added. Moreover, you have the option of converting the existing product you have to iRay which is patient/tedious but technically easy to do if you have the time and don't want to spend the money. If the autoconversion when you render isn't too odious, that is what I would do. I have been shopping here from before Michael and Victoria 10 in the days of Posette and if they produced a version of Michael or Victoria 1 that had uptodate dual lobe iRay textures, I would expect to pay for it because I have had decades of ownership and use of the product. I do understand you are not asking for a free product but the vendor has sold you an honest product that isn't broken.
My whole point is that the only change is an iray shader update, so it is unreasonable to pay for this item a second time when either a free update or a discounted price is a viable option. As we all know the way some items are UV mapped trying to convert shaders can be a dificult or for some near insurmountable process. Not everyone has the same level of experiance.
They could do what Jack Tomlin does, and release it as an iray upgrade for a few bucks. Seems to work for him.

Teen Josie 8Hmmmm. Olympia and Victoria 8 had separate eyebrows that were seem to be a big deal. (I still don't understand the separate eyelashes thing). Why go back to painted on eyebrows for an 8 character?
Can confirm, the eyebrows are part of the texture, not a separate mesh.
Does V4 have full functionality in DS 4.9???I have Victoria 4 and her various Morph packages
Morphs++
V4 Elite Ethnic Faces
Base V4
Do these packages work in DS 4.9?
IF so, HOW do they work?
I have used these successfully in DS1 - DS3A with NO problem!
Is there a special trick or do they just not work?
I have them loaded, I double click, but they don't appear in the Parameters tab OR the Shaping tab.
Vicky 4 was selected at the time, still no morphs
Any Help will be appreciated!
I'm running DS 4.9 (64 Bit) on Windows 7 , 4Gig RAM
How did you install them. IThey can not be installed via Connect. If you install through DIM or Manually, you do have to the old initialization thingie:
You initialize the V4 figure by browsing to the 'folder you installed your stuff'/runtime/libraries/!DAZ and Click on both: (in Windows; there are Mac scripts in the same directory)

DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat

DzCreateExPFiles-V4V3.bat
EDIT: Also do this with the .bat/.command files for M4 and his bits, too

Teen Josie 8Too cartoony like Josie 7, if not even more. Victoria/Michael/Olympia have a realistic look, so its hard to have this character in the same scene for consistency. They should make Josie realistic like the other standard characters and save the cartoony look for something like Aiko/Izabella. Not digging the Michael Jackson nose.
Thunderbolt by Pretty 3DGreetings,
It's been my experience that products that move across stores never do anything like that, with the exception of RuntimeDNA and that was because it was a complete acquisition. There's really no way for a seller to correllate 'rosity buyers with DAZ buyers (they don't get a list of buyers email addresses, for instance, which I'm grateful for), so the answer will almost always be 'no'. On the other hand, the price for the model and very nice new shaders is pretty decent, especially with the current discount.

Well I can easily prove I have previously purchased the product so I am not to happy with the prospect of paying for it a second time.
Are you unhappy with the product and did not get good use (your money's worth) out of it? I'm not sure why you have to buy it again unless you want some added functionality.... a fast food place might have free refills but, for the most part, if you finish the bottle of champagne, you are expected to buy a new one if you want more.
Your comparison of a 3D product as a food product doesn’t really fit. I have purchased a product that has since been moved from one store to another, if you want to equate it to food it would be like going in to a restaurant with the intent to have the “All you can eat” buffet and going back for a second plate find out the buffet has been moved to restaurant 3 doors down and you will have to pay there if you want another plate.
If this is the exact same product with updated materials I agree it is rather cringy not to upload the update to Rendo so your existing customers can get it.
The only thing I am seeing is that it has been updated for iray.
This.
Only in Daz/Poserdom have I ever run across anyone feeling entitled to free upgrades/products.
Perhaps you could encourage the vendor to release an Iray materials upgrade if that's all that was changed. Or maybe the vendor changed more than just the shaders.
Laurie
Have you never purchased other forms of software? Antivirus, photoshop are just two of many types of software that get updated that may not involve studio or poser. I am not asking for a "FREE" product. The product I own has been updated, I was just asking if current owners of a product that has changed stores will have access to the updated version.

Llynara's Loony Bin (WIP Thread)Shared this on Novica's thread, thought I'd add it here too. Keeps it easier to find things, since I post all over. Novica has some great hair painting tips starting here.
Painting Hair
I actually painted hair for the first time on my "Maiden with the Flowing Hair" image.
Before: (Rough draft) Love this hair, but there was a wide gap that even stacking multiple layers of the same image didn't fix.
I used the flat angled brush that comes with Photoshop and did each color on a different layer, then played with layer order, opacities and blending styles. I added some effects to the layers as well to give them more depth. I think I did a Guassian Blur on the brown layer to blend it more behind the others.
Final: I used Ronya HD for V7, Olenna Hair, Jepe and Muscleman's Equine Dreams, and DA Unicorn for DAZ Horse 2 here.

Darius 8 ideasIt is probably a holdover from Victoria 7. Most of the guy stuff is designed from the female counterpart, and there are those who prefer their women to have glossy lips even if their skin is naked of makeup. It looks pretty odd, since high sheen lipgloss isn't a common sight these days.
* closed* RRRR The're ba....ack! Render contestHey, Totte, put me down for $50!
After finally completing a complete inventory of my content library, I found that I have exceeded 1 terabyte of content, both Poser and DAZ Studio. Which raises a question: WHY!?
Why have I accumulated so much clothing and outfits for my digital friends, when all I seem to be creating these days is renders of naked vampire babes, with massive racks that look like they could influence the tides!?
Anyway, I decided to try something a little different for this round. I "rolled" two numbers for each pull: the first number, from 1 to 198, corresponds to the page in my Product Library, while the second, from 1 to 40, is the particular item on that page. And the result is:
124 / 36 -- Air Giants Genies
166 / 29 -- Nevada for Victoria 4
59 / 3 -- Everyday Poses for Michael 7
165 / 39 -- The Dark WallOkay, remind me not to try that again....
Whoa! Looks like I'm going to be drawing first blood! Cool!
Also used:

Arduino's Victoria 4 WWG (You can't see it, but it's there!)

Classic Casual for V4
Coco Hair (Ebony MAT)
V4 Drow morphs (I have no clue where this came from; probably ShareCG)
Earane Outfit for V4
Liam for Michael 7
Rock Star Hair (because, well, it's Martin, you know?)
Rainstorm for Genesis 3 Male(s)
Genie Bottle
Fire and Smoke for DAZ Studio

Title: The Return of the 'Repo Man'Martin and Alexis' latest 'repo' assignment seemed simple enough: to track down and recover an iconic prop from a once-popular TV series. As always, however, they ran into a bit of a wrinkle....
Martin: "Well, at least now we know why he was so keen to get it back!"
instal Genesis 3, Genesis 8 to Poser 11Unfortunately, neither Genesis 3 nor Genesis 8 are supported in Poser 11. Previous generations could be used with the use of the DSON importer/exporter (Genesis and Genesis 2), and generation 4 figures (Victoria 4, Michael 4) and earlier are supported natively in Poser. There are workarounds for Genesis 3, including the Genesis 3 Poser Updater by Willdial available for free over at Renderosity, but I personally have not used them so I cannot comment on their effectiveness. There is also a thread in the Renderosity forums that discusses the use of the aforementioned Updater for Genesis 3 with Genesis 8 with some degree of success. Again, I cannot speak to the results myself.

How to conform OBJ onto Victoria 4 in Poser?Does anybody know how to conform an .OBJ file onto Victoria 4 in Poser?
Also, how would I save an .OBJ file as a .cr2 file?
