  • Postgre, CMS, SSD & Mac

I'm at my complete wits end, I'm so frustrated. I reinstalled all my content onto a new Mac but now I have the gd'd postgre, cms location issues with trying to transfer everything to an SSD since the space is a joke on this laptop. I'm honestly at a loss, everything I've looked up and tried is a complete failure. Please help me. Let's dumb it down and keep it basic because computer literate I am not. I need basic bish set up instructions. I'll uninstall the whole gd thing and all the content if I have to.

    Please just help me.

  • Muscle morph packs?
    Damsel said:

Every generation before this one had morph packs for individual muscle groups, such as biceps, pectorals, triceps, etc rather than just a general sculpted shape. That way if a character's arm bent, you could have the biceps flex. Usually that product was released fairly soon, but there hasn't been one for G9. Does anyone know if this is in the works? I keep looking for it, and no luck.

Just keep using whatever works for you, why force yourself to use G9 if it doesn't suit your needs?

  • Armpits... Are the pits

You might also need to adjust joint centres if the location of the arms has changed, but yes a morph or morphs to adjust the arms linked to both your shape and the arm bends are what you probably need.

  • Script for switch from one layout to another and back

Hi everyone! Is there any chance to switch from one layout to another and back using script?
Each time I want to transfer my custom toolbar to another PC copying files, I need to do this action to get it updated properly. I found this sample that seemed to be useful, but it didn't give me a hint.

  • Cleaning up face transfers

Even if you get a clean face capture without hair obstructions, the face can still look bad with strong highlights and specular spots.
I tried to fix this in Photoshop by adding a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer.  These have a layer mask attached to it, so you can paint on the mask where the strong specular spots are located, then reduce the contrast on only those pixels.
But, still, I think the best method for fixing bad skin, is to use a creator's skin resource.  Something that you can change the skin tone to match and transfer over good skin.

  • Import body morphs from DAZ Studio to Blender

    Padone said:

The geometry must be the same for morphs to work. You can't morph among different geometries. But you can try shrinkwrap then bake.

    https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/modeling/modifiers/deform/shrinkwrap.html

I don't think I'm capable of doing such a thing, I don't even know what it means..

  • How to create skins and more?

I like skin builder 8 previous versions are great toofor early generations but 8 has a lot more options including freckles only downside is it's female only but you maybe able to cheat by using a female body then adding a male texture then after adding whatever texture changers you do saving that then reapplying to a male body. Lovechild (from here) is great you can combine two face photos to create a new face. Generated Photos is a great site that has faces created like this. Finally in my arsenal is Face Gen (from here) with this you can create faces imported photos and it creates the head shape too and there are tools in it to add extra morphs  plus it will also create matching textures for the body. Using all of these I've created a lot of original unique characters oh and if you have a bunch of head and body morph packs that'll help too

  • Armpits... Are the pits

Seriously. Everytime I try and create a morph in either in Blender or R3DS, the armpits end up looking... Well, awful. I've added a couple of pics to my post as examples.

The shoulders are looking terrible too.

I know this has been a problem for many other content creators, but surely there has to be a solution to this by now...?

  • How do I make custom morphs for higher sub division levels?

    lipluck81 said:

I can export a model from DAZ to Zbrush using GOZ, but only at the lowest sub division level.

I have Genesis 8 Female wearing a shirt that's too low poly, so I need to subdivide it, then GOZ it to Zbrush at the higher sub division level to fix a problem with the nipple area.

If this is about giving the shirt more mesh, it doesn't need a morph, it needs to be remade. So remodel the shirt as you please, then bring back into D/S the new .obj for the shirt and run the transfer utility. If you like it, save it.

  • Gen 8 hands?

    Gordig said:

Muscularity (male/female) is probably the most detailed muscle morph package and gives you very granular control over individual muscles, including in the hand.

    Hi,

I was looking at that package. It looks like it may be the only one.

  • Daz Crashing And Rebooting My Computer

    Snow said:

Sounds like a GPU (overheating or drivers) or RAM (faulty chip) but can also be PSU if it fails to deliver.

I highly doubt it's because you are low on RAM. It would just transfer the load to cpu and hard drive.

Is it only occuring with DAZ or other 3D apps as well such as games?

If it's dust then it would be an overheating problem.

Do you get a BSOD or just freeze where you have to hard reset?

Did you update gpu drivers recently? If so, could you try rolling back to a prevous version.

In any way good luck my friend, beautiful case btw, love what they did with the design and lighting!

It only occurs with Daz; it's a freeze where I have to do a hard reset, but lately, the computer just restarts itself when Daz freezes. The drivers are the latest which come with the newest version of Daz, the updates come through Install Manager.
Thank you for responding, and wishing me well, and for the compliments on the case. My only complaints on the case is that Dell went away from the easy modular swing out door to one where you have to undo a certain screw to get one of the sides to flip open, and they made it so that static again affects the compents when most of the industry has gotten away from that. Other than those things, I love the computer.

  • Loading Gen8

I thought I would add some figures.

I currently have 108 daz "base" figures for G8f. That includes the basic figure, the HD counterpart as well as some G3 for G8 figures, such as Victoria 7 for Victoria 8 for example. But those are just my "base" figures. I also have 477 other characters in my G8f library (sheesh!) as well as numerous morphs packs. So my G8f load time was awful. It got so bad that I started creating new databases for morh packs and characters that I didnt use as often as others. So when turbo loader was released I was at the point were trying to do anything with G8f was extremely cumbursome and time consuming.

Now I can load my G8f with my own custom made load configuration that consists of at least 8 morph packs a character and some expressions in a few seconds. Thats what turbo loader does. It lets you load the figure with just the morphs/characters that you want to use and ignores all the rest of them.

It takes a little bit of set up time to get turbo loader going but its not a big deal. In my opinion, turbo loader is completely worth the price, sale or not.

  • Why Genesis 9 JCMs are so unrealistic ?

    GhostofMacbeth said:

I think it also might be the fact that people zero figure and break the JCMs rather than restore figure which just turns off morphs and poses

In my case, it was a G9 base character I just added to the scene, applied V9 character morph and put the Bend of the Right Thigh at around -60. I didn't change any other morph or pose.

If it's down to the pose convertor introducing possible problems, could I ask if there is a difference between pose convertors?

There are two freebie pose convertors that I know of and at least one paid-for convertor. Is it possible to see if any give better or worse results in certain circumstances, or are better at converting certain poses? I don't have and paid for convertors, but if someone could try one or more, it'd be of interest. The convertors I know of are:

    1. Riversoft Art's Bone Minion, an incredibly clever idea: https://www.daz3d.com/bone-minion-for-genesis-8-and-81-poses-for-genesis-9
    2. n_alexandru's freebie pose convertor: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/605941/genesis-1-2-3-8-9-to-genesis-3-8-9-pose-converter
    3. Richardandtracy's freebie Pose Transfer https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/598316/g8f-m-pose-transfer-to-g9 (Needs to have the pose applied to G8 and then tranfers it to G9 which can be irritating)

Then we can see if any of the oddities are actually an aretefact of the pose conversion or maybe it really is down to the base figure. I must declare my interest - I wrote script #3 and as far as I could see during testing there was very little distortion of G9 after the pose was transferred. I may have missed something, as I really didn't see some of the effects in the images above. As I wrote the convertor I had a G8 figure and V9 on the screen and tried to ensure the two matched as closely as possible after the pose transfer. I wrote the code starting with the figure's core and worked outward to the extremities limb by linb, digit by digit. I do hope I didn't miss dodgy joints like that.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I noticed Bone Minion is applying wrong values for the new Twist bones (to fix them I just have to ALT+LMB click on values to reset them), so I prefer to use https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-and-8-to-9-pose-converter . I'll try the other converters, thanks a lot :)

But my problem is with JCMs included in G9 characters :)

I just used V9 without any morph, clicked on the Right Thigh and applied a Bend of around -60 :) I tried to Restore Figure, but it just remove the V9 morph :)

Yes, Mada was the first person I saw pointing this out, but it was easy for me to forget because Zero Figure does not break JCMs on Genesis 8 or 3 or 2 or any other generation I can remember. Unfortunately, this is a hidden thing that no one would know unless they were told or they trial and errored their way into it, much like the Eyes Pupil Dilate morph control being put in Posing rather than Shaping where it's always been.

Oh boy, that G9 thigh bend looks bad in the OP. Out of curiosity, is that the base G9 or some imported G8 -> G9 character? I remember when I back in the day imported my G3 characters to G8, I had similar problems with those imported characters.

It's a screenshot from Victoria 9 without any other morph :)

    I didn't show my imported characters (from 8 to 9), because it's yet worst than V9 :D
