  • Merge a body part for a demon character with a belly mouth
Hello I want to create some kind of demon character in daz3d. The character should have a mouth in the stomach area. It would be best if the mouth was movable (rigged) I tried hiding all body parts of a Genesis 8 character (except the mouth) and just moving it to another character's abdominal region. Unfortunately, I don't like the result at all. my question is now what would you do? Create a morph with zbrush so that the belly matches the mouth as well. or is it possible to create a geograft abdomen with the mouth e.g. in the hexagon. Unfortunately, I'm still quite new to the subject of Blender and Zbrush and am currently trying to acquire knowledge via tutorials. I haven't found anything related to the topic yet as I don't want to create a complete mouth from scratch (at least for now). I've attached an image of what it should look like

  • Genesis 3 & 8 Face Controls

Good question is can Face Controls expression be saved and used as morph or a pose preset separately on other characters without FC rig, and is there a way somehow to export FC expression to blender? Big thanks

  • Custom character from Blender

If you are trying to make a new morph in Daz, use Morph Loader Pro.

This only works at Base Resolution.

Give the morph a unique 'Name' to a avoid any conflicts.

To save, Save  as 'Morph Asset', by selecting only your new morph in the popup. Do not resave all your morphs.  and filling out the Content root folder, author, product name you want to save it as.  (That will just define folder structure where the morph gets saved.  )

  • Custom character from Blender

If you want to create a morph you use Edit>Figure>Morph Loader Pro (or Advanced) - make sure that Blender preserved the vertex order and that you use the same preset in the daz Studio OBJ Export dialogue and the morph import dialogues. If youn are setting up a geoGraft then you use the Geometry Editor to select the faces that should be hidden, then (with the graft fitted) use the right-click>Geometry Assignment menu to assign them to the Auto Hide group for that item.

  • Merging Surfaces?

Had the morphs already been transferred to the grafts? Until that hapens (custom morph added or morph applied to the base) theer are no deltas to transfer, so if you then set a new morph on the base figure the ex-graft vertices will - correctly - remain unchanged.

  • Creating Models, Creating Base Models, Model Creation

First off, yuu can use almost anything your purchase from DAZ in 2D form, images, book covers, posters, etc with no issues. To use any DAZ content in a 3D game enginel you will need an interactive license, but this only allows for creating an original game, not for mods. DAZ assets can't be used for mods (unless for personal use)

now on to the tricky questions. You can create any 3D model you want in a modeling program for use in Daz Studio. Keep in mind that you will have to rig it in DS if you want it to move. if you plan to redistribute it (i.e. share or sell) the rigging has to be original and not copied from a DAZ figure (that is called a derivitive work). There are several tutorials in the store on rigging. Daz Studio is NOT a modeling app, so you cannot create 3D models in it, only morph, pose, animate and render. You will need a mdeling app like Hexagon, Blender, Maya, etc to create a new 3D model

Adding morphs to any DAZ figure to create a unique shape and look is not creating from scratch, that is editing the existing figure You will need to create from scartch in a modeling app for it to be original

Its very possible this has already been addressed or asked, but I was not able to locate the information.

I actually have a few questions:

    First,

Are we able to create our own BASE models to be used in Daz Studio? Meaning create them from scratch using the DAZ studio software.

Daz Studio is not a modelling application, though you can make simple things out of primitives. You could use Hexagon or Carrara, or another application, to make models and Daz Studio does then have tools to turn a static model into a figure.

    Second,

Is there a type of tutorial that helps with creating said models? This information would be amazingly helpful. (I ask this because my body type that I AM is not very skinny, I am more thick hips and thighs and I would like to have models that represent myself, and friends of mine as well.... I also plan long term to use my own models for gaming programs or even as illustration for books that I write)

That could be done with a morph, plus other helper morphs to make sure that the bends behaved naturally. There are a considerable variety of tutorials on morph creation.

    Finally,

If we CANT make our own, and forced to use those already made or completed, are we able to use what WE CREATE using those creations already in the "shop" for our illustrations in our own books and such? ( I feel like this would be a no, even though we created the character, it was still created with "materials" not considered my own...)

The if doesn't apply, but yes for the most (exceptions are Twisted Normals products and the old Anne Marie Goddad Digital Clone for Victoria 3) you can use your rendered images commercially. But of course to the extent that you used stock content you would not have exclusive rights to the shapes used (but the illustrations themselves would be copyright)

  • Merging Surfaces?

Basically a figure is just a long list of vertices and their coordinate values.
When one makes a morph, the morph has the same list of vertices together with information, where each of those vertices should move (deltas)

If the list of vertices for the morph doesn't match the list of vertices on the figure (both the number and order of vertices), the morph doesn't work.

  • Custom character from Blender

    Hello,

I'm not too sure about the process. If I have a custom character (based on a "dev load") modified in Blender, how do I create the "link" between my new shape and the default shape? On the default character, areas with the sliders are already existing, how to avoid a conflict?

If i'm not mistaken, the new shape need to be a morph (shape keys) in Blender?

    Hey guy,

Is there any way to convert G81. to G8? I am trying to export obj but when importing to morph loader I got warning geometry not match and it fail

Make sure the character mesh resolution is set to base, and delete any eye lashes, eye brows etc before exporting.

8.0 and 8.1 are the same mesh (only for the same gender of course), you should be able to import then use the morph loader. If you do use this method, you will lose any jcm corrections for that morph, so it is not the best way to go from 8.1 to 8.0, however the alternatives can be quite advanced, as you would likley need to edit the dsf files, which is non-trivial.

Ok I will try it now. Thank you for help guys

And btw what I should uncheck in the popup window when I export? Leave it default for Daz?

I normally export to Daz format, but in reality for morph loading all that matters is that you re-import with the same settings as you exported with.

  • Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 released

Just a short question: Will there be a version 1.7.0 officially released, or do we need to work with the developer versions in future?

I love Diffeomorphic, which is a great tool for my complex workflow to create photorealistic native characters in Blender based on imported Daz figures and assets. I started refining my workflow and wondered, how Diffeomorphic will progress.

My actual workflow plans include baking HD details to Displacement maps and create a morph and pose library in Blender based on Daz assets. The textures will be refined and the shaders enhanced. I try to build a Blender library for these assets. Unfortunately I'm slowly progressing as I have a limited time budget at the moment. I'm also focused on stills and no animations, so repairing poke-throughs and other mesh changes can be made easily in Edit mode. Still need a new PC, as my current one is more than 5 years old.

  • My freebies

I do one or two freebie items at Rendo, but what I do is to do a complete new upload here when the .zip is under 5Mb. I usually attach the .png version of the promo image and also the zip file to a new thread started for the item. I tend to go into more detail here in the description, as there's no 1000 character limit, and occasionally use more images to show how things work (like with my Pose Transfer scripts).

If the zip file is more than 5Mb it won't attach to a post here, and I either don't mention the Rendo freebie here or I link to my Freestuff page. More often, I don't mention it here. I've been a member at Rendo for a couple of years longer than here, and Rendo tends to be seen by more people, so if there is a possible hint difficulty here, I don't post here.

There are other freebie makers who just link to ShareCG or Google Drive from here, even though the freebie is also on Rendo.

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Rest In Peace PhilC

He was kind enough to create a Wardrobe Wizard character/morph for me that I dearly needed, back in version 1 and I had to force him to accept any payment. My world's a little sadder without him.
