3rd Annual It's Raining Men Picture Thread -- Entries and NAE Pictures
Entry #2 | Ambition
"I floated atop a figure sitting relaxed on a throne of wealth. He was a contradiction. Dark and light deeply entwined in perfect balance and harmony. In a place where both demon and angel were allowed to live in one same body. One wing folded around him, almost shielding him from me. The other, however, extended an invitation. I floated there, looking at him, feeling a magnetic pull. Despite his hidden eyes, he tilted his head up and looked at me. His lips parted into a devilish smile that beckoned more than threatened. And as I pondered his silent invitation, I thought..."
"Will I pull him up with me... or will he drag me down with him?"
Re-purposed items:Horns: horns re-purposed from Tara 2 HD for Victoria 7 & Victoria 8.Outfit: Arkana for V4 & A4, re-textured to be used as a shaman garment. Used every piece except for the upper arms circlets and the bra. The fit was done via the G3M Wear Them All (V4 expansion) and then moving the bones in the clothing around. There was some stretching, but it became subtle once I turned the fabric to lace to give it some transparency.*Photoshop postwork includes: blurred falling feathers, type and subtle color correction (adding a bit more contrast and sharpening). Casual Polo Shirt G2F -- new dForce garment
This item is a shirt for Genesis 2 Female which is optimized to work well with dForce cloth simulation in Daz Studio 4.10+. It's styled after a polo/golf/tennis shirt, with a three button placket and a fold-down collar.
Included are:
- 7 material presets
- dForce simulation settings to insure proper handling of collar, placket, and buttons
- 12 assorted fit/style/adjustment morphs
- 2 full-body morphs (Victoria 6 & Olympia)
- full metadata
The garment can be used "out-of-the-box" with auto-follow for characters and poses (though you should turn on mesh smoothing for auto-follow). However, it really shines when used with dForce simulation to simulate natural draping. For atypical character shapes which push the limits of auto-follow, you can use dForce with the workflow described in https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/210551/my-workflow-for-dforce to ensure a natural-looking fit.
If you use auto-fit, the garment will also work with Genesis 3 Female, and Genesis 8 Female -- again, adequately using auto-follow, and quite well using dForce simulation.
Colors for body, arms, collar, and trim may be easily adjusted through changing diffuse settings within the Surfaces Editor. In addition, the UV has been optimized to display arbitrary graphics with minimal distortion. An example is provided for integrating your own graphics via the Layered Image Editor.
This package can be freely used for personal and commercial renders, but may not be redistributed without permission. Though not required, I would be grateful if you acknowledged the source and would love to hear from you at [email protected] to hear about your experiences with the garment. (If you like them, great! If you have problems or suggestions, I'd be even more interested to hear from you.)
G3F 'Raine' character weirdness update (Cured, though not solved)Found the problem and an interim cure, though I still have no idea what's causing it.
Raine is a G3F character, not derived from V7 or Summer, yet for some reason she loads with the 'Summer' head morph pinned at 1.00 and the 'Victoria 7' head morph at 0.5, which produces the grotesque distortions. Zeroing both out (while leaving the 'Raine' head morph at 1.00, naturally) cures the problem. Several other G3F characters, besides Fiora and Chandra, have similar unwanted morphs applied without my knowledge and/or consent.
So for now it's just a matter of tracking down the morphs that don't belong and zeroing them out, but it is a nuisance. Later today I'll try uninstalling & reinstalling some of these characters, see if that cures it.
Thanks, Murgatroyd and agent unawares. I might have thought to check for morph contamination...eventually...and then again, maybe not.

[ Further update: it seems that Summer for V7 is the culprit, intruding herself into other G3F characters without an invitation. Even uninstalling both Summer and Victoria 7 doesn't remove the morphs or their effects. Not all are as extreme as they are in the Fiora and Raine examples, but...holy crap, this is bizarre! Don't know what else to say. Unless someone can suggest a permanent cure, I guess the next thing to do is open a support ticket. ]
Base figuresI have looked and looked and do not seem to see the base models for things like Victoria 8, Genesis 8, etc. Could the base models be put all together in a seperate section in the shopping sections?
The Genesis range of bases come free with DS you need the Starter Essentials for the relevant Genesis. You can find them in DIM or in your product library

"Get Them While You Can!" If Not… Well… "There's Always Another Sale™"hah yeah. Humbug would work. LOL. It did make me laugh when it was originally used.
Curious, does anyone have this: https://www.daz3d.com/wounds-and-blood-for-genesis-8-female-s-and-merchant-resource The more blood and wounds for my girls, the better (which sounds creepy but you know what i mean....) Does it work easily on Genesis 3 Female? I'm not really into G8 so would prefer to use it on G3, but I don't know if it'd translate well.
Yes, it works quite well with Genesis 3 Female with a couple of caveats.
- It doesn't show up in Smart Content when Filter By Context is checked. You need to uncheck Filter By Context and go to Materials->Iray->Feminine->Wounds and Blood for Genesis 8 Female to find the presets. The W&B Editor is in Utilities->Scripts.
- The Editor is designed for Iray. Genesis 3 Female loads up 3Delight, which means the W&B Editor will state to select a figure with Wounds and Blood. Either convert the materials on the figure to Iray or use a Genesis 3 Female which uses Iray materials by default, like Victoria 7
Non-photorealistic Renders (NPR)Brian Haberlin is another artist worth watching. He creates graphic novels and uses Poser Pro 2014 to create his comic book look...
Brian is a fantastic artist who uses both tradition pencil/pen/ink, as well as a wide array of digital tools to create his comics. He updated to Poser 11 when it came out, and has offered a lot of useful tutorials and webinars on how he uses Poser and ZBrush to create stunning artwork on books like Faster Than Light, which is published by Image Comics.
If you are interested in his techniques, I have written a detailed tutorial on his approach to using Poser to create comics. It can be found at my (100% work safe w/no ads) blog: Noir Style Tutorial
Some Samples of work I created using Brian's techniques. The first image is a very early attempt at using this style with the P4 Man (aka The Dork), the second is a more complex attempt featuring Victoria 4 and some custom morphs.

Wow...nice renders... AND very kind of you to post a link to your tutorial.... I will beheading that way shortly.... Again many thanks...
What is this outfit? It's driving me crazyI know I have this but can't figure out what outfit is is. Soooo many clothes, really! It's the black bodysuit in the first thumbnail pix

Help? Send In The Clones Not Working@ JasmineSkunk I can confirm SITC pro does not work with DUF files. if you load the character you want to load as a Victoria 4 or M4 , PZ, CR2 or .DAZ in those file format the SITC will load those characters sets in daz 4,9 &4.10. But if you try genesis 2, 3 or g8 it will give you DUF is not reconized files formats and & you will get the code errors that you are. I just tried it with my copy & thats what I got too.
you can try loading a V4 or M4 and see if you have the same issue. But like Havos mentioned its a pretty old set it was made for daz 3. SITC only accepts those old file formats PZ,PZ3,CR2 &DAZ. thats the best information I can give you why it won't work.

Gopherus #2 LOL, that Gaia is a fun playmate. never a dull moment these days.
Tynkere #02 Definitely some strange recruits. I love the sargeant's pulling off the sunglasses for a better look.Pull # 5 (And there will be a Christmas tree too!)

I just thought an error occurred. Anyways, these are typical daz formats as if you download victoria or whatever else.
My Library EmptyYeah all of them are empty except for the cloud folder. Nothing happens when I paste stuff in it. I have victoria, genesis, and a few other models already installed so if the files were to pop up they should have by now. Though to install them I had to log in and out a couple times for it to recognise the products I purchased.
G8 Ankle Bends, am I the only one? This thread made me curious, and after comparing and doing some renders of a few G8F characters' feet, I have to say I think G8's feet look just as natural as G3s.
Here are a few renders (left to right: Victoria 8, Monique 8, Base G8F, Aisling, Charlotte 8, Libby):
Divamakeup,
Please tell us what your bend parameters are?
I just did what @Fisty said above: "You need to bend the metatarsals too, then you can get 'em almost the same shape as G3."
Select the foot and in the "scene tab" use the arrow down and select the "metatarsals". You can then bend the metatarsals to the desired angle.

Here I bent it to 12, in the above feet renders I think I bent it around 16 or so.

Most customizableDo you have any of the basic morph sets? I mean, what you mentioned are the base figures, but you'd need morph sets. And V3, Vicki 3 to 2, Victoria 3SAE I don't even know if they have any morph sets at all.
There's usually a separately sold package for some more morphs example, G2:
- https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-female-morphs-bundle
There are a lot of morph packs that give you various shape options, here are some examples for G2, there are lots more, and also for eaxch Genesis generation:

Most customizableI have been messing around with a lot of models in Daz and they are very limited in customizability. Makhuman has great customizablity and it is limited to me. What model is the most customizable. In what regards do I mean. Have you heard of ManuelbastioniLAB (dunno why highlights came on I just pasted a name) more customizable than that. I know that is asking a lot but I cannot find anything really more customizable I thought about poser but why buy more software besides it doesn't seem to have it either. Is there a model like that, am I missing something?
I can sorta human model myself but my style always come out pixar anime hybrid and I need a more realistic humanoid in this case. Daz seems to be the best in human looking models it is just so limited in what you can customize (I have 4.10 pro). I use one actor and you cannot change facial features I use another model and you cannot change buttocks and breast, I use another you can sorta change facial features but only minor things like eyelashes etc but not much else. I in the end will need a kid, teen, and adult version along with a steroid hulked version for a story I am doing.
If you wish to know which actors I have.
Aiko, Basic female, Fiery Genisis, Barefoot dancer (which is surprisingly customizable not even sure when I got it), Genisis 2 base, Genisis 3 Female, Genisis 8 basic female (these are actually very limited eye lashes and mouth HD is all for faces really), Genisis 8 female dev load, Just genisis, V3 blank SAE, Vicki 3 to Vicki 2, Victoria 3 SAE. I know a long list but it is a long list of limited customizability. I could sculpt on them after making them but that would break the rigging.
Make Your Most Realistic Renders – Ever!I tried several times to do one render with this adjustment (2,2), but I never found that it was very convincing.
Perhaps is this due to the fact that I come from the world of the silver image...
Anyway, I benefit from this revitalized thread to ask whether other parameters should be modified when one pushes the gamma at 2,2?Dear Dudu,
After reading all the suggestions here, I decided to use the Gamma 2.2 adjustment.... and one of the most important things for your carrara scene, I think, are the light settings.
I decided to create a new 'photo', this time using Victoria 5. First thing I did was deleting all lights and set the ambient light to zero. Then I added two spot lights and a shape light. I dropped the shape light near Victoria's legs and on top I created a plane—set it to a water shade. Then I added two more planes and changed it into glass. I placed the glass—to act like a filter—in front of front of the two spot light. Then I created a cube and cut some holes in it... al within Carrara.
I also enabled soft shadows for all lights.
For the render setup: I used indoor lightening, with maximum ray depht of 16, light through transparancy and I enabled the Caustics.
For the camera I used DOF.
Feet Detail Morphs/ShadersHey!
I own the muscularity morph pack;
https://www.daz3d.com/musculature-hd-morphs-for-genesis-3-female-s
It has a few tendons morphs. There's also feet detail in most of the HD add ons for Michael 7 or Victoria 7 etc these require a subdivision of 4 to show, you also don't have to match the figure with the HD morph, you can just look for the he morph that adds what you want, but beware you can get some strange results.
there are also some feet morphs in the creature creator packs for Genisis 3, these are also HD and require a subdivision of 4.
I especially like the creature morphed hands, I think they're supposed to be for trolls, but look amazing on bigger built guys.
Beauty toe HD that you own is great, but remember if you enable the HD slider you will need to set the characters subdivision to 4 in the parameters tab.
Can I convert these MATs?You would need either the Cayman Studios product (at Renderosity?) for making the Victoria 4 UVs work on Genesis 3 Female or you would need a clone shape to line the emshes up and then (in Blender for example) bake the maps from Victoria 4 to Genesis 3 Female. In either case, I'm not sure how well the maps - especially he silver set - would work if you are rendering in Iray. Also, note that the first level can't be mixed with maps that use the standard Genesis 3 Female UVs.
