Options for searching the store?I fail miserably when it comes to searching the store.
I am not talking about search by a text string, which is much better done from an external search engine.
I am talking about searching for a specific type of content.
The search options as Categories, Artist, Genre gives awfully broad results.
Is there an option for searching e.g. Genesis 8 characters, without getting cloth, poses ... included?
Or if I am looking for (Iray) shaders.
Or any other specific type of content.
Those tags that are on the products, e.g. G9, poses, people, are of no use to me. Can they be used in searching?
When there is a sale with lots of pages of items, I will see if there is anything from my wishlist, and then browse through a couple of pages and maybe sort on specific PAs, and then call it done.

As I understand it that's a simple approximation by distance that works in most cases. May "smooth" too much.
Yes, I tried it, and it's a pretty naive algorithm. It smooths way too much even before one begins to see a meaningful reduction in the number of keyframes. Thanks, though.
The financial market domain is rich with curve-fitting/smoothing tools that help investers 'see' trends buried in noisy trading graphs. I wonder if there are any OS/PD libraries that might be useful in simplifying and de-noising animation (and mocap) data... Sorry I don't know enough to recommend even the simplest of toolkits, but it might be a possible resource to draw from.

Through my job I've got access to NTRS and CORE. I'll do a search. I've also go access to Matlab, LabView, and SimuLink; maybe there's something in the libraries that come with them. But I think the path of least resistance would be to grok Richard Roberts's algorithm... it's just kind of hard to figure out when I can't see nything because I no longer have access to Maya. I think it'd be the final missing piece.
It'd be great if you could find something, especially if already done and tuned for this domain. I don't have access to Maya, but may know someone who also might be interested and have access/motivation. Will PM with details.
One of my favorite things about DAZ aniblocks is the layer edits where tweaks can be ... layered, leaving the base animation alone. One of the most disappointing 'features' of the aniblock infrastructure is when baking aniblocks to the DS timeline, *all* of the keys baked to the DAZ timeline are set, even if they are not set/changed in the original aniblock timeline... this makes it impractical to go back and forth between the two timelines. (and, not having linear interpolation available in aniblocks almost make it a non-starter, but that's a different thread I won't bother starting.) To my eye, aniblocks are a million $ idea with a thousand $ execution. It's what sucked me in to the DS environment when I was far more ignorant about it all. Battle scars a-plenty, heh.
A keyframe decimation/simplification tool like this would not only appeal to my OCD/minimalist tendencies, but would make general animation tweaking in DS far more practical (less painful?).
I'll happily help test any/all options you want to explore.
best,

How To Make Character Appear to Have Collapsed ?Lots of movies and other images online of such situations. Look them up, with strict filters on so you won't be mentally abusing yourself when the results are pulled by your search, and then pose according to the photos you choose.

It doesn't matter what version of DIM (Daz Install Manager) you use. It has no effect on how Daz Studio operates. Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit version of Windows 8.1?
First, I want to thank you all.
To @northof45: I snet my problem to the support you gave the link with explanation. But, I must say, I was very consufed where and what to say! I also put the link to this forum page. Yes, DAZ worked with Genesis 9 installed (installed automacillay by DIM). I think G9 is made for DAZ 4.21+, or not? I am confused that Content Library folder structures did work fine till 2 week ago (I installed DAZ completely new and had deleted all downloaded products (within DIM). I normally do not delete when DIM downloads products. But from now on, I will always save downloads in extra folders (when DIM installs newer DAZ Studio (normal version)). But I had to clean my HD, like I said.
To @franko314: I own Windows 8.1 64bit (OEM that I got with my laptop ~6 years ago). I tried Windows 10 2 years ago but, oh man, what an awesome(!) OS! Spyware - Everywhere - Here and There!. . So, back to Win8.1.bicep peak for Genesis characterRenderPretender and Terry, you are most welcome. I hope it's of some use. I haven't really messed around with it as much as I'd like. It's far easier to work with G8/8.1 due to the variety of add-ons. :)
Also, I've updated my earlier post with the images now that the forum is letting me upload again. :)

I've tinkered with this a little on Genesis 9.
Here's a sample and parameter dials screenshot where I set the parameter dial limits to 300% on the main automatic flexion controller dial and on the bicep flex dials. That made a marked difference in bicep flexing. Haven't played around with the other flex dials much, but probably works the same if needed.

Leemoon, thx for that tip on the G9 platform, I have been trying and failing on making some believable morph packs for that platform. TD
Gothic City... because Gotham is a trademarked name... SALE...commercialcarrie58 said:
hmmm AntFarm is no longer listed as a vendor so maybe he pulled his stuff .
The AntFarm definitely IS still a vendor, but Gothic City is no longer in the store. Products get culled for various reasons by either Daz or by the vendors themselves, so maybe it just stopped selling. It was a Poser-format prop with 3Delight material sidecars, so there may just have been no more demand for it.
EDIT: Sorry for the repeat. The forum wasn't showing me the second page of responses.
EDIT 2: For what it's worth, I have the set, and it might take some serious work to get it to look good in Iray. All of the lights need to be shifted to photometric or Iray mesh lights, and there are a fair number of lights and a large number of other surfaces that might need some adjustment and separating -- for example, there's a gate that should be metal but which is the same "gray fill" surface as the sidewalk curb, and while that might work in 3Delight and Poser renderers, it might look really odd in Iray. There's also the issue of converting it to Studio format as a whole, if it was going to get that sort of update. That would have been a fair amount of effort that might not have paid off for a vendor.

Only Daz may suply you with an older version of Daz Studio 9and the Daz-branded plug-ins). If they do you would place them in the Downloads folder used by Install Manager, launch Install Manager to work offline, and install the older version from the Ready To Install tab.
thank you too, richard haseltine. i'm glad here are nice people to help.
this is not good news that only DAZ has older versions.
I wanted search Internet to get older versions but did not do it. I must ask daz help then (as northof45 said). But for what/which version should I ask? Version 4.20 worked well months ago.ContentFolder StructureIssuesNorthOf45 said:
Genesis 8 has been around a long time, so older versions going back maybe 4 years would support it. You mentioned that you had Studio 4.16 working the way you wanted, so stay with that. Now, the question is, do you still have the installer for 4.16 that you used when you did your clean installation? If so, do that procedure again, and don't update it anymore. If you do not have it, and you cannot use the current version of Studio (i.e., no suitable Iray driver for your OS version), you will have to contact Customer Support to see what they can do, as DAZ only has the latest version available. Help Center (zendesk.com), sign in and Submit a Request, select Technical Support Questions from the first menu, then later, near the end, select Earlier Version Request. Explain why you cannot use the current version, and hope they are sympathetic. No guarantees...
Thank you for the VERY quick answer. The last version was, if I'm not wrong, November 2022. I think it was 4.20+. I had no problems with the folder structures when saving. Too bad, I have no older installer for DIM. I had to delete DAZ and everything I got from/with my account (including Genesis 9) (because I had to clean my Hard Drive).
Where can I download older DIM and or DAZ Studio products? I did search on the Internet but I found newer version 4.21+. A question: When I get older DIM product version do I have to uninstall DIM and everythin I downloaded? I do not want to do it because it takes sometimes too long to get all downsloads with my account (DAZ doawnloads at slow download (even so I have download limit up to 20 MB (I have 250.000 DSL).Forum icons missing--they are fine in store & Other Forum IssuesWendyLuvsCatz said:
I used the Renderosity forum just now
I hadn't thought of that... a few years ago when DAZ's forum image uploading was broken for a really long time, I used a thread at HiveWire similar to the one I made in the Art Studio forum, to hold my images... most were for my Freebie announcement posts, but some were just random dumb images.... unfortunately when HiveWire's forum got hacked, all the images were lost when they were forced to redo their forums... I suppose Rendo is a lot more established then HW at the time, so it's probably not much of a worry.
Thanks.

Guys, if we all start reporting sales problems here now as well as in the Sales thread, the mods are gonna go insane. Let's stick to keeping the discussions HERE and the problems THERE, no?
The original thread was always a combination of discussing sales and asking about potential issues with sales. It's not unusual to be confused about what the sale is and isn't supposed to do. If we don't ask, we don't know if there's actually an issue to report, or is someone else can point out something we missed and there's no issue at all.The current model for reporting on issuies inside a forum thread is just weird. Forums always used to be primarily for community driven discussions and support and if community itself cannot find a fix for an issue then they would recommend an user to open a support ticket. If a lot of tickets are flowing in about an issue it should escalate itself naturally.
Here for some odd reason moderators are openning tickets even though there is a ticket service avalible under "Help". Kudos to them for doing extra work, but i feel like thats just teaches people to not use the existing ticket system and rely on moderators for all issues. If they have to make ticket or else tickets made by common users dont get fast enough resolutions that the ticket system is an issue.

Those are beautiful! In regards to your comment about notification emails, there have been issues with them of late as well as forum problems with the icons and attachments. It all seems to come and go but Daz is aware of the problem, so hopefully, they can get it fixed in the near future.
Thanks Frank! Hmm... I haven't gotten any Daz emails in a few months. I had for years anf they just stopped one day all of a sudden and none since. I hope the problem hasn't been going on that long:) I have no idea why I stopped getting the daily Daz emails. So instead I just drop in here once in a while.

How to manage thousands of products ?Taoz said:
Here's an offline database (Windows) for all your DAZ products with DS Product Library integration (locate any installed DAZ product with a couple of clicks). DS Library integration requires DS 4.12.1.117 or later and that your products are installed with DIM, currently no Connect support (may possibly come later). Free up to 250 products.

(this is from the current build, with improved search (AND plus EXCLUDE), not released yet)

(current public release, showing DS integration)
https://www.screencast.com/t/ofZEsVpkwyNI am so thankful that Taoz has taken the time to develop this. It is the ONLY package that I have found that automates what can normally be a very tedious and time-consuming process. I appreciate the continuous effort that goes into keeping this thing working with the store changes that occur from time to time. I do hope there will be a exporting/reporting feature added at some point. I have this idea about creating a flip-book of my Daz library that I can't seem to forget about. This would have to be an automated process as I have a bloated library that I began in 2006. In any event, the modest price tag for the paid version is a true bargain in my opinion. I also look forward to the next Rendo iteration of Product Manager so I can update my database.
Thanks Taoz!

So I have only used the original Daz Mil Horse, the DH2 and the HiveWire Horse (Harry). I'll be curious to see what folks do with the "new stud on the block", when it comes out. The anatomy definitely looks a bit odd to me with 35+ years as a horse owner, rider and trainer. I just found out about this/saw this thread, as for whatever reason I'm not getting the daily store emails from Daz anymore.
Some VERY old 3d horse history here! :)
Mil Horse (art from 2006...)

DH2 (art from 2013 using personal textures)

Another DH2 (art from 2013 using personal textures)

and an early artwork of Harry from 2014

Yes all manes and tails are postworked on all images FWIW...

Another 2D Rendered Image Rights Question - Distant Backgrounds for a created set?Greetings. Intent would be to sell a 3D set of my creation. Variations of this question have probably been asked and answered many times, so what is the harm of one more time? I have an idea for a 3D setting that takes place in the tropics. I intend to create a few buildings along with props that fit my intended time period and theme. I also intend to create a detailed landscape ground and plants suitable for foreground 3D usage - 'hero' 3D models. So far so good. But for the more distant setting, am I allowed to render my existing tropical-related Daz3D assets to create and use as a background image to be placed on a distant plane/placard/arc/dome, or similar device? For example, could I use UltraScenery to render a distant tropical forest and place the image on a distant plane when the camera faces my set in the direction of the island interior? Could I use one of my many beach or ocean sets to do the same for when the camera faces my set in the direction of the island shoreline? Could I do something silly like stick a rendered image of a UFO bought from Daz3D in the rendered background sky? Do I genuinely have full rights for rendered 2D images of my Daz3D 3D assets, including using the 2D images as backgrounds incorporated in 3D sets that I create (not selling a separable set of backgrounds)? I could see this going either way, which is why I am asking.
EDIT - Example of one similar approach. Jefferson AF has an environment set called My Corner of the Forest. There is a great detailed 3D set foreground, surrounded by a mid ground of lower res 3D instances. But the distant background of 'My Corner of the Forest' is a 2D image placed on a curved plane surrounding the detailed foreground set. Can I use my Daz3D environment assets to render a 2D background that I place on a curved plane that surrounds my set, and then sell my set with the curved plane incorporated? EDIT 2 - I tried to attach a screenshot of the Jefferson AF My Corner of the Forest set but forum is acting up. EDIT 3 - third time is the charm. See attached pic of curved plane surrounding set.

Here on the forum this has already been discussed - I could not find it (search here for a curve), But I remember that the base is one of Emma Watson morphs - which one I find it difficult to say. Modified.
queston about membership and FreebiesNot entirely sure what you're meaning. As a registered user of DAZ Studio you can download the weekly freebies (which seem to be bi-weekly at the moment). You have access to DAZ programs like DAZ Studio and the Hexagon modeller for free, the base content for each generation of characters and a fair bit of other content. You can download free content offered by other users in the freebie forum. That's a fair bit to be going on with. Then if you become a DAZ+ member, there is a weekly freebie and a monthly freebie. Don't forget places like Renderosity (I've got around 170 freebies offered there), Deviant Art and ShareCG also have hundreds, if not thousands, of freebie items - registration only required. No money need be exchanged for membership plans (except DAZ+), and personally, I avoid paid membership schemes because there is so much free content. Regards, Richard.
