  • Can someone make Lydia HD for Victoria 8?

I really like this character, but would rather use her with Genesis 8 technology.

Can someone make a version of her but for Genesis 8?
I know the original artist of Lydia made new characters called Evelyn & Lynn, but they're not as attractive and too normal looking.  Genesis 8 females needs more super models with stunning facial beauty IMO like Lydia 7 HD.

  • Who is the beautiful girl used by Goldtassel in promo pics that looks like Felicity Jones?

I er, uh, <mumbling quietly> don't really care for Dr. Who so am not aware of all the actor people invovled in it (I know more than I will admit to, but not much).  I made my comment based on something I read.  I take everyone's comments here in the best possible spirit and appreciate the education. :)

Just for clarification, the Ana De Armas reference was to Goldtassel's modified version of the character, rather than the original Osuine.

You may or may not be interested but Jenna Coleman can more recently be seen playing Victoria, in the show of the same name. Maybe you've seen something of that instead? Or not. :-)

  • Morphs from G3 to G8
Hope no more. Daz has largely confirmed my early assessment and I have the first handful of clones built. I aim to complete G3 and G8, update the code and overload the attributions (and provide Daz an evidentiary explanation of why I am doing it thus) and we should find out in fair order if that suffices.
When will that happen? As I said way back, holiday. I won't be able to get much work done. I will try to get the response off to Daz, with exhibits of my planned correction today. I won't be waiting on them, but given the odds that the new morph might be crap, or need many small adjustments, I almost certainly won't be ready before they respond.
Again, as I said, there's no reason to assume Daz had evil intent. They clarified in very reasonable time on a holiday weekend. I believe them. The major trouble here is due to my failure to consider that the base clone shape was irrelevant to the process as long as it didn't create distortion. Yes, Daz would have still said attributions, but I could fix that without interruption. Remain positive. Lose a few electrons if necessary. I'll get it done.

A product like this, free or not, that give users the ability to bring older character shapes forward, (or the newest shapes backward to their favorite genesis generation,) can't help but stimulate sales for Daz. So it makes sense to me Daz would want this script to pass any and all legal requirements. IMO, it is in the best interest of Daz, PAs and Users for the script to be around for a good long time.

That said, I'm still kicking myself for not downloading the script immediately!
    laugh

i do feel that was the "big deal here aside the legal issues, something "free outside of they own control here, is not something they would love to see without a big talk about it, since almost everything here must have a "price"(even when you get some freebies here and there), have "real free products and a product like that with so big power would be even more of a big deal), but it's my own opnion whatever.

Another question this product only transfer the "regular morphs" like characters morphs(victoria, michael, keiko, mika and bla bla bla)?? or some regular body shapes like basic body morphs?? or you could use it to export more complext morphs like this ones:

    https://www.daz3d.com/minotaur-6-hd-for-genesis-2-male-s

    https://www.daz3d.com/reptilian-6-hd-for-genesis-2-male-s

     or morphs like this one:

    https://www.daz3d.com/skinchangers-female

    https://www.daz3d.com/skinchangers

i means any type of morphs or only the most "common and basic ones like characters and some body shape morphs???

if it can export any morph then wow it could be really one of the best pluggings ever.

  • Who Are Your Favorite Render Artists?

Yes, those seems to be G4 figures (or maybe G5). As far as I can tell I have seen for example in this scene https://www.deviantart.com/dungeonmeister/art/Highfolk-City-goes-to-war-357218610 this outfit (behind main characters to the left and behind) https://www.daz3d.com/celtic-warrior-for-m4 and also I have seen some Xurge3d clothes that are mostly for G4 on other pictures like this one https://www.xurge3d.com/inc/sdetail/26385/27544

He is using his own textures and it seems they are done really good. But what I am amazed with is how he can fit so many figures on the scene. I was even thinking to ask for some advices and I might just do it. Let me see if I can find picture I was really amzed with...

Ok here is that paladin outfit from Xurge https://www.deviantart.com/dungeonmeister/art/Rary-the-Traitor-is-dead-473762253

It is something like this one but if I remember good it was in medieval city and there was some kind of crowning. But here it is https://www.deviantart.com/dungeonmeister/art/Honored-642250284 You can se to the left lady dressed in white dress and big headpiece which is V3 dress that means he probably used G5 and auto convert from V3. Here is that dress https://www.daz3d.com/the-dress-for-victoria-3-0 and head piece https://www.daz3d.com/the-dress-headpiece-for-victoria-3-0

And sorry I can't find it but I am just amazed. His works are so good. My favorite artist is Keith Parkinson and all this pictures can compre with it and some might be even better. Just for example here is one of his pictures https://www.keithparkinson.com/product/ruins-of-kunark-print/

I'm sure he'll be glad to give some advices to one of his fans! :D

G4 figures are very light, with a modern GPU it shouldn't be a problem to fit how many of them you want in a scene.
Otherwise, there are instances. You could also reduce SubD level, texture size, maps etc.

I'm sorry, but if I admire his scenes, I think they're not aging well!
Consider, for example, that this was done in 2015: https://www.deviantart.com/bestmanpi/art/Natural-hand-547185863

Maybe it is posted before, but here is my favorite artist. I just love his work, especialy Greyhawk pictures https://www.deviantart.com/dungeonmeister/gallery/52965141/Living-Greyhawk

For example: Highfolk City goes to war

    Thanks for sharing!

I really like the scenes and everything, he has talent!

Is he using some old generation? The characters, to me, look more "aged" than what I use to see nowadays :(

You'll need to go looking in the following path of your content library in DAZ Studio:
    \Poser Formats

    \Figures \DAZ People \Victoria 4.2

She should be about the last item.

My library is all DIM installed (except for stuff I buy elsewhere).
    Hope this helps.

  • sea and sep files and manual install

Michael/Victoria 4 don't have the sep/sea files.I'd like to try and keep everything to at least one directory, so how do I do that with these?

V4 and M4 and their morphs packs can't be installed via Connect due to the way their morph technology work. You'll need to install them via DIM or manually using the zip files.

  • 35th Daz3D Bryce Render challenge. The theme is ~#~ "Abstract" ~#~

    So many stunning abstractions here!

    Horo:

Love colour transformations in "Owl Head". "Lippen" are surreal, but very modern. Environment behind the glass reminds me of some tv studio, but with monitors displaying typical "No signal" colourful screen. Which suggest that Victoria 3 heads are news broadcasters here. "Loupe" is pleasant abstraction as well, with a twisted motion.

    drachenlords:

"The Dance" looks like captivating museum of modern (eternal?) art. "Alice D" is very bright, very colourful, very life-loving and happy-go-lucky. Like the very essence of disco. "Inside the Hypercube" is masterly rendition of M.C. Escher concepts.

    mermaid010:

"Crazy Clown" looks very otherworldly. It looks both as creepy unknown, and as profound entity that can share it's knowledge with us, if we find a way to communicate. "Folds and Ribbons" - beautiful. Yes, it's like a butterfly. But i also think it's some kind of mysterious hallway... Who knows where it can lead us.

    adbc:

"Train Station" - cool futurism (as in, speed and technology) art piece. I like tryptich of colour spaces behind the structure. "Virus" - very tasty! Those green reflections are superb. "Watchful eyes" - something devilish, demonic i see here. Or maybe it's mythical moth? Or even huge "super robot" (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SuperRobotGenre) mecha who will keep an eye on you? Never know what you summon while reading latin books... Beautiful creation.

    MelanieL:

"Curls and Whirls" - beautiful ornamental echo! "The Eye of the Daisy" - very nice psychedelic art! I like softness of colour scheme.

    Tim82:

"Deep Sea kaleidoscope" - fragmented, yet calm. "Abstract reef" - looks charming! I love how colours work there. "Abstract DNA" - a slightly frightening silence of nature's absolute order! Makes you think about grand scheme of things.

    Hansmar:

"#langleveRembrandt!" - wonderful art exhibition. Langleve your "out of box" approach! "To the core" - excellent whirlpool of shapes and objects! "Chess pieces" - very pleasing shapes and colours. "The road to abstract" - gorgeous rendering of transforming between reality and (abstract) fantasy! This is real Wonderland, for sure!!

    Dan Whiteside:

"Private Gallery" - very stunning "while in gallery" scene! Exhibited abstracts are beautiful, while scene overall has exceptional composition, from placement of elements in space to visitor's pose. Bravo! "Probe" - beautiful sphere-based abstraction work. "Organism" - nice eye-pleasing abstraction. Reminds me of solargraphy a bit https://photosynthesis-in-nature.com/photography_solar.html

    Henryhor:

"The Caged Scream" - cool surrealism piece! Sculpting of objects is also charming! "Deus ex machina" - beautiful gear'n'mechanism abstraction. Distortion of reality looks lovely.

    ed3d:

"Atom Heart Mother" - classy existential composition! "The Hot Rock" - ha, i imagine how someone doesn't pay attention to writing and gets burnt.

    mtnmen:

"JP Trying Different Techniques" - amusing depection of artist at work!

    hubert:

Your abstract works are amazing! Very elegant compositions, with phenomenal colours and aesthetical shapes. Also, thank you kindly for providing your experiments to investigate, you even include tips and tricks with them, thanks! I only fear, though, if i would feel a bit uneasy when trying following footsteps of you and others. I mean, many of you have your own signature style in your works, while me as somebody starting recently and learning from you all, inevitably might mimic your styles before finding my own.. or maybe i am overthinking too much... :)

    Jamahoney:

"Perspective Reflective" - very invigorate "acid" piece! Love perspective and colours. Gonna listen to good old acid techno together with it.

    Electro-Elvis:

"The Broken Crown" - nice philosophical abstraction. The will of getting all the power might shatter your soul in pieces. "City Deconstructed" - amazing idea done well!! Very open minded.

  • Who is the beautiful girl used by Goldtassel in promo pics that looks like Felicity Jones?

BTW, all I did was turn down Osuine a bit to 60-70%. I then added a small amount of Victoria 8, 25%. It is pretty clear to me that the girl has some kind of HD shape in the promos, so I added Victoria 8 HD, 100%.

The texture is straight up Osuine. The 2nd pic I added more red to her cheek by blending in the SSS texture in that area. I used Osuine blue eyes, and I turned down the white level on the sclera because it is too bright otherwise.

And that is it. I think its pretty close. It is possible the artist is using a different DO as the secondary shape. I am pretty confident it is a Daz DO, because of the HD morph. Though I suppose it could be a PA's HD shape. It must be someone who can balance Osuine's face.

    THANK YOU outrider42! Nailed it!

  • Why 'My Library'?

IIRC in the old days of bitrock installers and such I beleive Daz Studio was set up with 'My DAZ3D Library' for products from DAZ and the 'My Library' was for products from elsewhere that you might install yourself. However, even then you could install 3rd party products to 'My DAZ3D Library'; but i think having the installations seperate was supposed to make it easier to uninstall the third party items.

My Daz 3d Library was introduced as the default location for DIM, /Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library was the DS 4 default, /Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/Content was the DS 3 default.

But yes, the idea was that the My Daz 3D Library would be for content from Daz, My Library for your own content, and you could then have separate content directories for other stores - though of course with the old exP figures (Victoria 4 etc.) all of the expansions had to be in the same content directory; that isn't true for the Genesis figures.

Victoria 8 is not in the Smart Content pane Product tab - in fact nothing is there other than the essentials downloaded by DIM.  I installed most of my items manually though - so maybe you're onto something Richard.  I don't recall having this issue previously though.  How do I get DS to look in the correct place?  I have pointed both DAZ Connect Data and Daz Studio Formats to my manual install folder but I still get the same problem?

Thanks for your help by the way!

Do those scripts convert all V4 to G8F at once or do you have to go through and manually pick specific products?

You can convert several items of clothing at once with the scripts, but I prefer to convert one outfit at a time. I highly recommend reading this thread as it contains hints and tips on several different features of the product. River Soft gives useful advice too.
