  • Fit Control Genesis 9 Male & Female Edition (Commercial)
Ah, thanks. Good to know and btw, thanks for Projection Morph Manager. I've relied heavily on it to get something like the functionality of Fit Control for my G9 clothes which are mostly very disappointing when it comes to included morphs. I've really even more used G8/8.1 clothing that I applied Fit Control to and then converted for G9. All your tools are a huge part of my quality of life inside DS and it's very appreciated!!

Native Americans (or any ethnic group) - Don't lump them into one representation, but instead look at the varied tribal nations and do themed sets: morph packs, texture sets. hair, clothings, props, buildings, religion, environments, and weapons. For example, the Tillamook were very different from the Navajo, the Crow, the Aztec, the Cherokee or ... The same could be said for any group in Africa or Asia that got lumped together in an artificial political country construct. Then take the historical representation of those people and do the same for how they live in the world today or maybe in the future, like in Afro Futurism. But always with an eye to a respectful and honest representation.

While I am all for that also, I doubt there enough customers to make having such small, specific niche tribal categories beneficial (financially) to any PA who is interested in making such themed sets unless they are truly passionate about such a project.

Take the modern Middle East, it seems to be a mixture of modern and ancient all mixed up today. So a blend of old and new buildings, clothing that respects cultural norms and laws, varied technologies, and militaries.

And I vote for real clothing a man or woman or child might have worn in any historical period. I have photos of my great grandparents and grandparents take at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries and they were covered up, neck to toes. Even a niece, who was a child was in a dress below her knees, wore black stockings and boots. They were standing on the steps of their cabin in the southeast United States in the woods. My grandmother was in a long, gathered skirt, and a long-sleeved blouse with a high neck.

There is one person who posted requesting an American normal, small town in Product Suggestions and that generated a LOT of interest. What is in the DAZ store is pretty old. And not all small towns look alike, SW vs MW vs NE vs SE all have different looks because of different climates. But if a PA could take that on as a series, a normal small town that is modular. And then bits can be used for others sets. Then maybe more normal homes, like Collective 3D did, for the MidWest. Someone else could do this for the somewhere in Europe, South America, Japan (this also was a request, real homes), Australia... or even a future town say a hundred years from now, where water is precious, solar & wind power is harvested, and more of the world lives in green places, not a dystopian hellscape.

  • Is it possible to convert a morph for G8 female into a morph for G8 male?

but in that way you're not able to import it back to DS, let alone various artifacts you may encounter, etc. (G8's geometry is still unique to a certain extent...)

Do you meam, because the vertex groups of G8 won't be to their right place after the shrikwrap, or are there other reasons that make impossible to import back to DS?

I meant vertex positions rather than vertex groups. As long as you use Genesis figure with base resolution as the floating mesh, you can import back to DS but only the vertex positions cann not make you satisfied.

I saw that after the shrikwrap, there was some incoherences, because vertice from the jaw was used to wrap the neck, etc... But I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to wrap "per piece". I mean, if I could extract the jaw par of the MH character as a new object, and use the shrinkwrap modifier only to the jaw vertex group of the G8, and then, do the same thing with forehead, ear, nose, etc... wouldn't it be possible to recreate the MH head and to create a new morph to use it into DS?

That depends. If the mesh resolution of MH figure you use is higher than Genesis figure, that's it. "per piece", let's say just wrap the head, nope, Shrinkwrap has no such a function. Faceform Wrap has and can do it pretty well 'cause it can 'split' mesh into subsets before wrapping then merge subsets after wrapping.

By the way, I am surprise I don't find a lot of vertex groups on the G8 character: I hoped there would be a group the the ear, a group for the forehead, for the cranium, etc, but they seems to be gathered in only one head group. I am surprise because to create new morph, I thought it would be nessessary to have a lot of different groups to know to which group apply the morph... Are there other groups available somewhere else with the G8 character in Blender?

There're already around 60 vertex groups ( aka Face Groups in DS) on G8 . If you import obj into Blender with vertex groups, you'll see them. For sculpting purpose, sometimes you may need them, with Masking for instance. But for the partial vertex groups as you mentioned, I don't think you really need them though you can create them.

Thank you in advance for your answer!

  • How to hide diffeomorphic morph keyframes?

    Hi

I was wondering if there is a way to hide the morph keyframes when I have certain bones selected in pose mode, because sometimes I'm moving or coping some bone keyframe and since morphs are always visible I end up moving a morph keyframe by mistake.

In the attached image I have yellow keyframes(bones) and blue keyframes(morphs) so I would like to hide the blue keyframes either when I enter pose mode or when I select a bone or manually with some command or plugin or something.

    Thanks.

  • Render your buys! Use buys from the current month and the previous month of sales

    @joanna > A nice peacefull scene smiley

@Wonderland > The result looks really great smiley

I wish I had an eye to change the characters from my library, but I'm more likely to completly butcher the artists work than to create something worse rendering. Maybe one day smiley

@SapphireBlue > Your throne scene looks fabulous, same as your portrait of Charlotte (with or without postwork) yes

    A render done with yesterday's Golden Ticket, centered around the pockets' morph laugh (one of the reason I bought it, the other being the flat footed shoes which is still too rare in my G9 library);

The short list of items is on my gallery's page: Pockets !

And another one, which took me longer, done for Llola Lane's monthly challenge (in the Art Studio's section), with two products bought this month: Everyday Bathroom Props (the textures of the freebie towel come from it) and Ultimate Natural Bend Morphs for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Female 2.0. The environment is also something I bought this month, but it's not sold here so it's not a part of the current PA sales.

Same as the previous one, all items are listed on my gallery: ‘The moon is beautiful, isn’t it ?’

  • The belt of Out and About Outfit for Genesis 9 is hidding behind the pant

Yeah, body morph and pose will both influence the geometry so that the poke-thru area may change. As Wendy said, if you have Mesh Grabber, you may just push it in a bit.  Or use dFormer or Rigidity Group but that'll be a bit cumbersome.

If you know to use Blender, that'll be also easy to fix it. The PA should've provided some popular Body Morphs with the pants...

I would say it's a poke-thru resulting from the body morph you use on G9. It's not G9 base figure, correct?

It's Mira 9, with the Natural Movements Pack for Genesis 9 activated (I'm in the middle of a render, I can't check if disabling that pack solve or not the problem: it caused problems with close fitting clothes before, but usually, it was skin showing through clothes).

I changed the pose a bit, which reduced the problem:

you could fix that with something like meshgrabber or a Dformer but that's not the point

the PA needs to tweak their morph

Thanks for asking, what a cool thread idea!

I wholeheartedly second the requests made here for accurate historical clothing, esp. of European Victorian / Edwardian times - it would be really, really great in this respect if artists would look at the silhouettes of the periods beforehand and come up with the appropriate corset / stays morphs for the chest, waist and hip area! Because the sweetest and most well-made garment won't look anything like authentic for these times if it just hangs loosely about the woman's frame like a modern day t-shirt. I'm also more interested in 'middle class', everyday clothes than either fancy schmancy or dirt poor - just something ordinary for the period, that can be up- or downgraded.

The second thing I'm sorely missing is accurate period hairstyles, again, not fancy ball up-dos or straggly waif types, but middling, everyday styles. Of all periods from medieval to 1950s really. There's sooooo few of them! With middle partings for example, and short side curls, like Early Victorian, or just normal, everyday styles from the 1930s and 40s. We usually get modern day shampoo commercial hairs instead, or over-the-top steampunky or fantasy coiffures. Some can be adapted, but with pains, and it would be so much nicer to have something that really fits the bill from the start.

The hairs could probably be made to morph from one period into the next or even afterwards, since the styles develop slowly, and there are some really consistent basics throughout longer periods of time - like the base 'middle parting, bun in back, and then do something with bangs' variety. One could use that up to the 1920s, and then switch to an open style with marcel waves which can be shortened or lengthened ... Ooooh, that would be such a dream come true ...

  • Too many morphs or should I just give up on this?

I use the Beta Pro mostly. I also have 32 bit, but it's frustratingly weird. I can run the 32 bit public release, but not the 32 bit Beta release. It will crash.

I can run the 64 bit Beta release, but not the public release. It will crash.

And ... well.... I need all four to run, actually. I'd have each version dedicated to a specific thing I do, pointing to specific libraries, and set up certain ways.

With ERCs I'm gathering there's just times you'd better not ERC, even if the option is there.

Just pulled another nighter, but I'm pretty far along. I backed up to get rid of some early morphs that were just cluttering up things.

Another problem has come up. There are three vertices areas that... want to stick. Importing a morph straight is fine. Reversing by X makes them poke out. And draping? hahahahah. Not with these rebellious vertices!

  • Shoes Problem

Yeah, TimberWolf is right. If you wanna learn how-to, I show you the way, as this pair of boots are not comlex in comparions with those high heels....  If you own Mesh Grabber, you even don't need Blender or sth.

    1. Load a G8F and G9 into the scene, load boots on them. Auto-fit on G9 with Timber's suggested settings. Apply the attached Pose Preset on G9
    2. Select boots on G8F, set its Resolution Level to Base, Export it to wavefront obj file with the options as attached SS.
    3. Select boots on G9. Open Morph Loader Pro, import the obj file with the options as attached SS.
    4. Go to Morph/Morph Loader property group, dial it.
    5. There'll be tiny poke-thru around the area of inner knees, drag them if you have Mesh Grabber, or know Blender, sth. Done.

  • Help... a few "basic" things

If you are just starting out,  I'd suggest you start with Genesis 8.

It has a massive library of supported content. Everything from characters, clothing, poses, morphs, expression, animations.

Everybody gets a lot of downloadable content with the free Daz Studio Download.

Grab the Genesis 8 starter essentials packages.

There are 3 additional products that are extremely helpful and are Daz Originals, and usually go on sale for very reasonable prices.  These are the female ones.  There are 3 male ones.  These three packs add the functionality that helps you make more unique characters. Body morphs affect the body,  head morph focus on the face. (chin, nose, mouth , eyes, brows)  And the expressions pack includes default expression like happy, sad, angry, contempt.  It will get you started.
