Regarding the non-folding laptop while you very likely have the knowledge to rig the one you used, in case you already have the following product, there is a folding laptop in Shinjuku Living: it's a bit old in its design and it has a japanese keyboard, but it's rigged and it has a CD tray rigged laugh

  • How to isolate part of a full body morph and apply it

The problem is that it isn't just the shape - the rigging has to be adjusted so that the bends are happening inside the joints, at the correct height relative to the weight maps, and with radical reshapes there are likely to be corrective morphs for bends and to make sure other (supported) morphs and adjustments (e.g. expressions, such as eyelids meeting when closed) work. Splitting a morph would entail splitting all those things too, and in many cases might require a completely new morph (for example, if you want to isolate a head morph when the neck has changed angle or length then you will need to move the ehad to line up with the default neck and probably add some kind of transitional shaping to make the join look plausible). It's possible in principle, but more than you can expect from a product and a lot of complex work to DIY.

I was thinking of buying the Oso Mosasaur morph for the Daz Dragon 3 and partially morph it's limbs to get something like this https://share.google/uyGdfW3uaGVxWoxiE and make a sea dragon. The thing is that the mosasaur is a full body morph and I don't know how to isolate part of it and apply just on the body parts I want. Does anyone know how I can do it? Maybe any tutorials?

I'll try another day because even on my most powerful computer, creating the morph from a 30 MB .obj file takes between 5 and 10 minutes.

    I got it working!
You were right, turning off Disable Target Surface Transforms does the trick, but I also had to take one extra step: dial the Hamster Fur morph on the fur back to zero. That seems to make the fur follow the body correctly.

Now my hamster is gloriously superfat. Thanks! :D

okay my latest and greatest problem.  I published a novel and want to get the likeness onto a daz figure.  1) I used face transfer onto genesis 8.  I have nothing for genesis 9 and next to nothing for 8.  2) I was hoping I could do the face transfer and the character transfer to genesis 3 where I have tons and tons of stuff.  That failed miserably.  The genesis 3 character doesn't really look the part at all.  I do realize that the character I am going for is a mid teen.  the genesis 8 although adult does resemble him.  but the character transfer process just doesn't.  and I did spend a little money and starting to regret it.  so then I'm thinking so I just go with genesis 8 and try and size everything up from genesis 3 and genesis 2 or try something different?  my book is about school so working with teens and teachers and coaches.  the main character makes a difference only because he is on the cover.  I'm almost thinking about just doing what I can do in studio and recreating the book cover altogether to match if I can't get a good likeness.  I did the book cover myself and it's not that great.  so I'm rethinking all of my life choices at this point.  it drives me crazy.  genesis 3 I can do youth changes, have clothes, lots of characters etc.  genesis 8 I have nothing except for a similar likeness on an adult figure.  and no money, even less than what I had.  ideas?

Converting characters between different Genesis figures is really easy. Look at WP Guru's videos on YouTube. I've done some characters who have morphs transferred from Genesis 1, 2, and 3 to 8, and the other way around. It may seem a bit confusing at first, but once you've tried it a few times, it all comes together.

I'll take a look.  I've watched some of his vidoes before and subscribed.  I have converters to go up from like M4 to genesis to genesis 2  to genesis 3.  I stopped before right when genesis 8 came out.  and since 8 and 9 are primary focus now, I'd like to go backfward from 8 to 3, ata least for now until I win the lottery lol.

  • DazRodent Fur Not Following Custom Morphs

I fixed the issue with Rodent base breed as an example... but you're using Guinea Pig.  I double-checked it and found Guinea's morph is problematic as well ( most likely a wrong ERC Freeze ...)  I remade the Guinea Pig's morph and it works as intended. (ss1~2)

As for modifying DSF files of the Fur, they have separate DSF files in different folders:
    - guinea pig :   data\Sixus1\Guinea Pig\Guinea Pig Fur\Fur_Curves_437556.dsf
    - hamster:   data\Sixus1\Hamster\Hamster Fur\HamsterFur.dsf

I have to say this product is really problematic...suggest you fill a support ticket ~~

Edit: Hamster's morph is okay, the way of fixing works for it.

  • Mousso - Albany HD for Genesis 9

    Hello everyone,
Call me nostalgic, I've opened this chat to propose a remake of one of Mousso's best early characters.
    https://www.daz3d.com/albany-hd-for-genesis-8-female

This character's morph is unique, especially the eyes and nose, and I've seen it used in countless scenes.

It would be wonderful if Mousso decided to revisit this character one day and create a G9 version.

The issue comes from a wrong setting on its SBH Fur.

Select RodentFur node, in Parameters pane, turn on Show Hidden Properties.... Go to Path: General>Simulation>Hair>Follow, turn off Disable Target Surface Transforms (ss1)

The Fur will follow the morph change ~~

Edit: If you want to fix it once and for all, go to : your Daz Library\data\Sixus1\Daz Rodent 1.1\RodentFur\, open RodentFur.dsf with Notepad++, go to line 595635, change true to false. Save the file. Reload the fur. (ss2)

Thanks for the tip. I tried your method, but the fur just exploded when I turned off that setting.

I also edited the source file as suggested, but when I reload the fur it still comes in with the value set to "on."

  • DazRodent Fur Not Following Custom Morphs

    Hi everyone,

I've created a custom morph to make my hamster look fatter, but the fur doesn't follow the morph, it just stays the same instead of inflating with the body.

Is there a way to fix this? Or is it simply not possible?

I noticed that even the built-in morph that makes the hamster's cheeks puff up when eating doesn't seem to affect the fur either, so maybe this is a limitation.

Has anyone dealt with this before or found a workaround?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Import Camera from other DCCs

In what format(s)? At least you should be able to create a null or simple mesh that follows the camera position and rotation, then parent a DS camera to the imported null - a script in DS could probably read off other proeprties sfrom a suitable formatted label or data attached to the node if the transfer format supported that.

  • [Released] RSSY Character And Material Conversion Bundle Genesis 8 to Genesis 9 [Commercial]

Nothing works for me at all. I have tried every possible solution in this thread and in the PDF. Even the base Genesis 8 female (set to base resolution or high resolution, same result) will not convert to Genesis 9. The result is scaling the size of Genesis 9 up to the standard Gen 8 height but no other changes. That's it. In the rare event that it will work somewhat, only the body is copied, never the head. Then the copied body morph only works when dialed to 25% or less. Anything beyond crumples the model. The script crashes Daz every single time when it is finished and you click the "Finish" dialogue as well. I have tried this script on and off for the past year, thinking an update or something might have fixed it. It makes no difference is I use the "Zero" or "Restore" dialogue when copying a model in the scene to a Genesis 9 in the scene. You know something is seriously wrong when the script will not even work on the Base Genesis 8 Dev Load. So the process goes exactly the same, no matter what I change or what options I tick off. Either demolished results or no results with scaling changes on the Genesis 9 character after conversion. I would have guessed that the morph didn't save because Daz crashes after but it alters scaling and remembers the morph name.
