  • HeadShop 11 vs FaceGen Artist Pro - Which is Best

I've never used anything like these but have always wanted to try. Both are on sale for 50% off right now. Any suggestions of which software is the best?

I am hopping on the same boat with you.  I saw Headshop and it is down half price right now, and when I read the description, is just sounds too good to be true with all the stuff it comes with.  It says that it creates these 'dots' and you can further morph the face.  It says it includes 11 hairstyles too.  So now I am wondering what is the limitation.  Since the eyes mouth and everything is taken from a photo, it has me wondering if something like the eyes are mapped out and if you can move them.  If you can't then that is a big limitation.   So that is what I wanted to ask.  I was going to create a new thread, but when I saw yours, I figured I would just hop on your boat instead!   As for FaceGen Artist Pro, that I have not heard of, but I will look into it now that you mentioned it!

Edit:  I found a thread you might find helpful:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/292591/headshop-11-questions/p3

On that page scroll down to the first post by Outrider42, he compares the two packages.  I would read the whole thread though.   There are definitely pros and cons to using these programs.

    Hope that helps!

  • Headshop/ Loading existing .obj

An easier way to load existing figures created with HeadShop in Studio is to save the figure as a scene and than load scene.

Same applies if you want to load several HeadShop figures on stage at once; use "Merge" in DAZ Studio under "File".

You can also send an email to tech support at [email protected]

  • Headshop/ Loading existing .obj

    Hi,

    Headshop 11, V8 figure.

Apologies for asking a noob question, but I can't seem to load an existing file into Headshop.

At the first menu, I check 'Load existing Headshop OBJ:' and specify the file.

Now I get an error telling me that the selected file was not created with Headshop (it was). On hitting 'OK' I'm then locked into 'Specify a different texture map' on the same menu.

    How do I continue?

  • Headshop 11 Problems

The universe is a funny place at times, that's for sure. You decide:

Anyway, having a blast with the tool now.  Just have to get the workflow down so I co-ordinate all the assets now & not overwrite with a new HeadShop project.

Hmmm.  HeadShop seems to have disappeared from my Edit menu.  Hadn't made any changes yet.  Have un/re-installed w/o any luck. Files are where the ReadMe shows they should be.  Sent Abalone LLC a separate message.

Still a mystery why it disappeared but Thanks to Laslo for getting me going via Skype today.  Didn't get a chance to tell him how much he looks like my Dad in earlier years & took me back for a moment.

That's funny. Maybe he was my brother from another mother:-)  Glad that we solved the issue in 10 minutes via Skype

  • Headshop just hangs

    Hi

I have installed it on two computers with the same result. License is added, Daz is booted up. I can load Genesis 3, then run Headshop from Edit, but it doesn't fully start: I get a window telling me Headshop is loading which does not disappear. Headshop seems to load, but not with Genesis 3 recognised, and if I add an image, there is a crash (and the Headshop loading message is still visible). So what else is wrong?

AS I indicated, Forum is a bad place to do tech support. Please email to [email protected] and we set up a time.

  • Headshop just hangs

    Anyone any ideas.

    Daz Studio on C

Files are where they are supposed to be

Most content is on another drive.

When I activate the plugin, I load Genesis 8 & the General Options loads, and I accept.

The Headshop Loader just hangs there with a message saying 'Waiting for Headshop'. Headshop itself doesn't seem to have picked up on Genesis 8 and I can click on some options but the headshop window is not prepopulated on the right. If I drop a photo in it appears, but then crashes when I do anything.

    Any ideas?

  • Headshop vs. CrazyTalk?

That's a very apples and oranges comparison, as they have very different purposes.  Headshop is designed to create head morphs that can be applied to DAZ's 3D figures.  Crazytalk is an animation program that happens to be able to create a 3D head that can be posed, rigged and animated.  I have both, although not the the currrent version of either, and Crazytalk is a  better animation tool if you want lip synch animation, especially since it can animate anything with a face...from a photo of a real human to a cartoon drawing of a cat. If all you want is a human head shape, Headshop is a passable tool that gives you access to the extensive library of clothing props and sets made for DAZ figures which you can animate in DAZ Studio, or render out as still images to animate with Crazytalk.  That said, if you're leaning toowards Headshop, you should know that there's another product sold here at DAZ, Face Gen Pro, that does the same thing only, in my experience, far better, and also allows you to hand dial up a wide range of realistic and exagerated human faces on the fly.

  • Headshop vs. CrazyTalk?

    Hello all,

I just discovered Headshop, looks quite impressive, and I'm trying to learn more.

There is a good discussion at the following link which compares Headshop and Facegen.

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/292591/headshop-11-questions/p4

Rather than repeat that thread I was hoping members might be able to compare Headshop and CrazyTalk here.   I use a lower version of CrazyTalk which creates 2D heads.  A higher version creates 3D heads from photos.

I'd also welcome links to sales pages and other information which can further educate me about Headshop.   So far all I can find is this:   https://www.daz3d.com/headshop-9-2-macintosh-64-bit

I'm a Mac user if that matters, and a very novice DAZ user.

  • Headshop 11 Questions

Just discovered Headshop today, thanks for this thread.

I'm very new to DAZ and 3D, though I've been doing similar tasks in 2D for awhile, and have explored a competing product a bit.

Before I start asking questions could someone point me to sales materials and any other information I can use to educate myself about Headshop?  I'm hoping for a sales website, manual, many samples etc if possible.

    Many thanks in advance.

  • HeadShop 11 and OneClick2 Fix Files Uploaded

There are still issues with Headshop after this update that should have been caught.

I mentioned an issue with teeth warping multiple times, and this remains. If you use Genesis 3, the teeth will lose their shape as the morph is applied. It is a very similar situation to the neck bump issue, so hopefully an easy fix.

For Genesis 8, I found a different issue. The eyelashes are not responding at all to the face morph, so they disconnect from the face depending on where the eyes move. This makes the Genesis 8 shape largely useless. No matter what you dial the morph to, I even tried negative numbers, the eyelashes do not move. The teeth also move a little bit, but not like they do with Genesis 3. Again, like the neck bump, this hopefully can be fixed, but this really should have been caught before release.

So there is still work to do.

  • Help With HeadShop OneClick
Hey everyone, I had purchased an in built tool called HeadShop OneClick from the DAZ store. And I was testing it with some celebrity head pics on a Genesis 3. Now while testing the eyes closed feature using pose controls, I found that the eyelids have become transparent and are not closing properly. Does anybody knows how to fix this glitch? Then please let me know. I am waiting for your replies. With regards Souwrit Ray
