  • Will we ever get "The Girl 9" ?

I was told that Kim Goossens' original design was inspired by the work of the comic artist known as Dany.

Warning: an image search may produce some NS4W hits.

  • Remove JCM

Hello, sorry if this has been asked before but when I search the forums it just takes me to the daz store.

back when g9 first came out I had a go at making my own arm morph and creating a jcm for it. I now no longer want or need that morph but every time I load any g9, including the base g9 it gets applied. I've tried removing it from the property hierarchy in both the bones and parameters but it reappears every time I load any g9. Do I need to save the base g9 again (how would I do that?) or do I need to refreeze the ERC for the morphs? I also tried just deleting the morph but obviously daz still looks for it when I load in a g9.

    thanks

They're languishing in the past on old maps.  Try Wikipedia.  Or ask an AI machine.  Google does know but you have to ask its  AI Mode

    Here are some references:

https://persian.religion.ucsb.edu/home/maps/ - there are more depending on the era for Persia's expansion.

    https://timemaps.com/history/middle-east-3500bc/ - for a visual of Mesopotamia

Thailand, formerly known as Siam. - when I was little, our school books even in the 1950s still showed the country as Siam depending on how old they were.

Babylon - the seat of the Mesopotamian empire.

  • AI as render engine

I am aware of a lot of the issues people have with AI, such as how they train the image generators by feeding them pictures people worked hard on. And they train the language models by feeding them people’s answers to questions. And in both cases, some rich entity’s data center gets all of the credit for the work. And all the while, it uses a ton of electricity and water, perhaps making both of those resources cost more for everybody else.

The things I had a bit more trouble relating to are the more personal things. Like the artists who feel like they’re being replaced by AI or whatever. The closest experience I’ve had was coming out of college with a software engineering degree, only to find almost all software engineering jobs had been outsourced to other countries at the time, because the companies could pay those employees less money.

But I do write, and put my writing online. I once had a person copy and paste my entire text, along with my copyright, on his website. And I once had a person take a picture of me from my website and post it on his own, with some analysis, in an attempt to find my identity and find out if I was real. With both the article and the picture, I found the situations flattering. Maybe the reason I didn’t take it as badly as the people who are offended by AI was, the people at least did take the time to acknowledge who I was, and where those things came from.

Now I think AI can be used for evil, like war and misinformation. Those things bother me. But I never thought of AI image generation as that big of a deal. And I certainly never thought a person could have a DAZ character they’ve created, that they take so personally, that having the AI do something with that character hurts them.

I don’t like hurting people. So I’m just not going to say much at all about AI in this forum anymore. I don’t know how to fix any problem anybody has with AI. I need a nap.

    Try '0-1000', it should work.

Thanks Elor for providing the explanation!

@Elor amazing thank you, I didn't know that you had to do the value in cents - probably a good idea for Utiltarian to add to the info post so it's clear what format you have to enter :)

I did explain the cents part in my (admittedly, very long!) forum post, but I also added it to the release post. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • when will the PC requirements for running DS be updated?
well not exactly a crowd replying.. so i asked google AI. and got a quite comprehensive answer. so many 3D fans jump up & down when you barely mention AI, but in seconds it got me the info i couldn't find (actualized) where it should have been, i.e. the doc center, nor in the forum in this thread (since search won't work from my phone to look up other posts). a bit ironic.

  • Render Queue Outfit Exporter - Rendering Different Outfits in an Automated Queue

    Hello everyone laugh,

just wanted to share a simple yet effective script in Daz Script for Daz Studio (tested on Daz Studio 4.24). Have not really looked for an existing solution because I was honestly too lazy to look one up (still happy to know if someone knows an already great script!).

The script allows visibility presets for top-level scene nodes (no recursive search on e.g. node children) including a toggle list as well as a render queue window. Settings are saved in .json and can be modified within the .json or (in a limited way) within the script itself.

With this script you can ....

    - Start a render queue with your favorite Genesis character in different outfits (sets)

    - Start a render with different cameras (including the default viewport cameras)

    - Start a render with different timeline frame values (e.g. every 5 frames or the first/last frame only)

    - and in any combination of the above

Have a look at the following repository:

Forcer93/RenderQueueOutfitExporter: A utility script in Daz Script for Daz Studio for multi-export render queues and visibility presets

PS: WIP, started yesterday with it but Ive been using Daz for almost 4 years by now and that script helped me so far immensely with my current workflow which by no means is optimal. smiley

Don't worry fae, we're going to put the votes up soon. We've all been on a bit of a post-christmas break that's all. We'll be back to the grindstone shortly.

Oh, no worries!  I just thought that I'd missed them somehow.  The grindstone can wait! ^_^

i was looking up the requirements in the documentation center.. and I'm not so sure they're any use. it's dated 2017, like 9 years ago. sorry if there's another forum thread about this but I'm writing from my phone cuz my old laptop is on strike, and when i search the forum it sends me to the shop page.. a better forum and help/doc center wouldn't be a luxury btw...

Couldn't be found in gallery either. Maybe I am not smart enough to find his gallery or DAZ gallery does not have a functionality to search a member gallery.

I could recover some images from his X account but it's too bad as this was very good resource for this subject, especially with deviant gone now..

You gave me a good laugh! I didn't know about the adventures of this character! Really never imagined the little golden snake to be attacked by a cat hahaha but it's a very original way to use it! That's something I love from you, always surprising. Thank you!!!!!!!

You may think Richard Haseltine is simply our very helpful ever present forum moderator, but in my imagination, he has a whole other adventuresome (often bordering on crazy and ridiculous) life. I don't know how I come up with some of these predicaments I get him into, but he always gets out of them. He never has bad intentions, although sometimes (often?) things go a bit awry, like when he mistook a jackhammer for a Pogo stick and rode it down Jack Tomalin's driveway, tearing the driveway to shreds. Oops. He met his girlfriend Lola in jail, when he and Jack Tomalin were arrested for digging up a hosta plant in a protected area. Getting thrown in jail seemed bad, but he met Lola, and it was love at first sight, so it turned out good.

Well enough about Richard here. Back to snake jewelry talk. Sorry for sidetracking your thread.

Gosh that's hilarious:D Great imagination, very well planned and descriptive. My little one (she's 13) said she wants a cat that smart as this from you :D :D

They wouldn't be getting made if they didn't sell.

Turns out that people grumbling on internet don't fully reflect the actual customer base.

Its been a massive shock to Sales Managers in last few years!

Turns out that people in the threads on new products here are not actually discussing whether the product will sell or not, but rather, if they personally like it. Hint: usage of words like 'I like / don't like'  winkdevil

Well, let's face it, very little on the internet is a reliable source of anything as almost all online forum threads, store reviews, social media groups, stores, "newssites", etc., etc., can be pretty heavily skewed these days, both because the vast majority of people can't be bothered to actually read or post anything no matter how positive or negative their opinions and/or their knowledge of the subject, giving the postings of the minority who do a much higher apparent profile no matter how far off they are from the statistical norm, while the things that do make it online can often be heavily weeded to conform to the hosting bodies liking, and that's before we get to things like advertisements masquerading as news,  or even out and out BS whose only purpose is to serve as clickbait (sorry, if you've taken one of those online IQ tests that claim you've got a 120 IQ if you can answer 12 questions, but knowing who played Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies TV series* isn't really a verifiable indicator of mental acuity.)  And yes, now that a huge amount of data online is being generated by AI engines instead of real humans, which only samples the garbage that's already out there and then reassembles it in a half-baked fashion, it's only getting worse.

*It was Max Baer Jr., by the way.
