  • Adjusting genesis 3 female rigging in DS4.9 for super thin characters.

    Apply morph

    Edit>Figure>Rigging>Adjust Rigging to Shape.

Usually the defaults will work, though you may want to enable the option to adjust orientation if, for example, the relative positions of hip and knew have changed - you may want to exclude body parts that are completely unaffected by the morph, especially the exprssion bones and eyes as they are easy to mess up, using the list on the right.

Test the result, if there are mnor tweaks needed you can use the Joint Editor tool to adjust the centre and end points of bones, or to realign the bone by right-click menu.

Once happy with the results, right-click in the Parameters pane and put it in Edit Mode if it isn't, then right-click on the morph slider and select ERC Freeze - you should see only the changes to joint centres and orientation listed in the lower part of the pane, if there are any actual posing or other morph settings listed deselect them, then click Accept.

Check that everything still works, if so File>Save as>Support Assets>Morph Asset.

  • Bend Control for Genesis 3 Females and Males (Commercial)

Just bend shins slightly while Leg bend controller is on, and up the values on both legs. It will now remember that strength in relation to that bend value. Oh I forgot if you use the zero presets, it removes any manual work you did. eg morph strength editing.

possible to use the calves bend morphs without the leg bend controller ? I have recognized that I can use the full range of all morphs manually just if the leg bend controller is higher than zero, so also at 0.1. the thing is that I like the idea of an automatically bend control for the legs but to have good results on the calves for example I have to raise the leg bend control so high that the thigh morphs collide with some of the morphs of your shaping product for g3f (thighs apart or thigh outher morph or thigh thickness morphs for example) or I raise the value for leg bend control just to 0.1 and do all manually, but this well is not the idea of an automatic. As written before my character is not one of these slim and skinny ones.

  • Need More Face Morphs For GF3 and GM3

I agree. I really need some morphs that aren't currently in the system, particularly for men.

    I'd like:

'eye length' I really like longer eyes, and this morph isn't there

'eye squint'. I realize this is a pose, but I use this nearly constantly on male characters, and it would be nice if this was also a shaping morph, because it looks so good dialed in.

'nose indent' at the top of the button type noses for guys, there is no morph for that.

    More mouth and lip morphs.

Ability to widen the face and head, not just the jaw.

    More lip morphs.

Dogz's '200 Morphs' allows widening and narrowing of the head (upper/lower or the entirety).

looks good. Too bad if appears to be a female only product

  • The Not so Amazing Disappearing Morph

Parameters pane: to tell them to not be hidden? Yes. And to set limits, make sure the path is where I want it, etc. I've done a lot of morphs over the last year or two and ... it's never not worked before.

Whole figure because that's where I want the morph dial to be. However, if I get the morph onto the figure (say: thin waist) the morph dial disappears and becomes a whole lotta little channel settings that are hidden.

That one I dunno. I'm assuming you mean the Morphs folder beneath the main character?

  • Legacy UVs for Genesis 3 [Commercial]

So, this was an interesting experiment today. I tried out Cayman's V4 Legacy UV's for G3F (available at Rendo) as well as a script that converts V4 morphs to G3F that I stumbled across on Deviant Art. (darkhound1 is selling it over there, not sure I'm allowed to post the link). I also used V3D's Iray skin converter for Gen 4's before I did anything else. I tried to keep the same lighting, camera angle, clothing and background to make the differences stand out more.

    Here are the results:

    • Pics 1 and 2: original V4 figure MRL Nevara from Mihrelle (Rendo store)
    • Pics 3 and 4: V4 skin on basic G3F, no morphs
    • Pics 5 and 6: V4 skin on basic G3F with transferred morphs

The morphs get her pretty close to the original, considering the difference in size and shaping. With a little tweaking, I think she could be even closer. That's pretty good! The skins look great either way. Cayman's Legacy UV products work very well. The only one I don't have yet is G2F, which I'll be getting shortly, because darkhound's morph converter does those too.

I wish there was a utility to bring M4 morphs over, but darkhound1 says he's not interested in doing one. His script for V4 (and G2F!) is easy to use and so far does the job. This is the first one I've done, but I've got plenty of V4s to practice on, so I'll post more soon.

Combined with Wear Them All and the pose converters, you really can bring a lot forward from Generation 4 to Genesis 3.

  • Boolean searches on Daz?

I'm trying to find a past topic post relating to both geografts and morphs, but the search engine here is returning all mentions of either. How does the search engine here define limited searches? I tried putting in  "geograft AND morph", and "geograft + morph" and get a bazillion useless hits of "morph" all by itself. What is the proper syntax for search requests?

  • The Not so Amazing Disappearing Morph

M'kay so I'm working on making a character for a special project. The character in question is based from Kururu - older model, I know. Yes I know she's been put onto G3 and other incarnations. The original model doesn't do autofit things to clothes among other things, and I have a lot of support and things I've done for her.

Today started pretty simple. Export to hexagon (normally I use blender but decided to give hexagon a try). Made 2 different eyelash morphs. Made new cr2. All is well.

Made a waist morph, hip morph, glute morph... 2 faces...

And suddenly the morphs have begun disappearing.

They're there, sort of. They're invisible.

It doesn't matter what I do. They won't unhide or go where I want them to be or anything.

It's most annoying. And I don't know why. Is it a glitch? Evil conspiracy?

Anybody got an answer? Cuz I want my morph dials back.

  • Problem with new computer and old content

So now, I have to figure out how to transfer my files from the hard drive of the old computer (C:) to the hard drive in the new computer, which is named D:. How do I do this?

The last time I bought a complete new computer, I asked the shop to put the old internal HD into an external box. That and a USB cable should solve your connection problem (and leave you with more HD space than you thought you'd have).

There are two options from here; either move the content folder to your internal D: drive, or set up D|S and DIM to use your now-external old drive for its content location. It's your choice which to do, although be aware the USB connection will be a bit slower than your internal HD connection.

  • Bend Control for Genesis 3 Females and Males (Commercial)

Bend Control for arms and overall for armpits and chestsites would be a good thing. If the character is a bit more chubby (if using the body size morph) the arms got much to big and even with negativ values for the arms it looks not really good from behind. So a bend control for the upper arms (arm width and armpits would be a good thing I think.

extremly necessary is the armpit morph especially for the back armpits and each side should have its own morph nexto a "both" morph.

Also a morph for widen/narrow the inner upper arms, not the depth but the width

  • Carrara 8.5 and Genesis - Please Help!

    Hi Everyone!

So, I am back (or trying to come back) after a long time away (too long). My system died last year, so I am starting from scratch. Luckily, my old runtimes were backed-up from 2 years ago, so I was able to partially restore them up to that point. Everything else had to be installed anew.

So that is what I did. I have the latest public build of Carrara and DAZ Studio and so far I have no problems with the old Generation <=4 + Poser content.

However, when I load a Genesis figure, it loads suspiciously quickly (even compared to the loading time inside DS) and does not load any of the morphs that are supposed to be there. (I can load the exact same figure from the exact same duf file properly in DS and see all the morphs. - images attached). If I load a character presetin Carrara, I get that character's morph in my Actor Parameters tab and nothing else!

I vaguely remember that other prople have had this problem before and that there was a fix for it. But I canot find that thread at the moment.

Also I am afraid that most people have found a fix for this already and forgot about it... But if you remember what the issue might be, I would greatly appreciate the help.

I do get the "Duplicate IDs were found while reading the file see the log file for more details" whenever I open a Genesis figure in DS, but I remember always having this issue. Is there a fix for that?

  • Looking for android/cyborg hair.

    Good afternoon,

I hope someone can help point me in the right direction. A friend has asked me to do some cover art for him but I don’t have what his concept requires in my library. For lack of a better term, I need, “android hair.” Think of Galaxina and you’ll understand:    http://www.dorothystratten.com/Galaxina_Movie.html

It can be long or shoulder length, but it needs those front bangs need to be straight, and the rest of the hair should probably fall straight down, too. From talking with him he wants a very artificial looking hairstyle for a very artificial girl.

From my own perspective, I’d prefer Gen 3 with its usual morphs, but can tolerate Gen 2 if there are some morph and fit options.

    Thank you for any help.

    Bob

  • When Jayden/Brodie 7?

One missed opportunity that Daz has done before but not repeated in a while is bundles that have a paired male and female.  For Generation 5 we had http://www.daz3d.com/base-young-teens (plus a Starter and Pro bundle) and http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-michael-victoria-combo-bundle .  The one for the teens benefited from the two being released together and the Mike/Vicky bundle was very "complete" in that it had the morphs and acted as a Pro bundle so it came with the Anotomical Elements.  It's actually what I think the main figure bundle should be for a generation.

I feel like this has been a missed opportunity too. The YT5 bundle was great (and the MV5 bundle would have been if I hadn't gotten them from Carrara) but there's been nothing like that for forever. A few PAs did similar things (Sadie+Sam for example) but it seems as though since then all things have been female and a few token males that often don't really fit the females.

Thorne has made pretty much all the teens, ever, right? (Still actively making them I believe, as well as resource morph kits, but that's about it?)

MallenLane made Hitomi and Hiro (if they'd been sold as a pair promotion of some sort I bet that'd have gone better too.) (Doesn't seem to have released anything since Gen1 really.)

I don't know who made Keiko but I liked the style and was sad there was no male companion directly made to go with her.

In my opinion, unless the DAZ Original characters are intended to be siblings, they shouldn't look too much alike beyond having a similar skin tone and such.

I agree with that, but it depends on what's meant by "alike."

When you're talking about stylised characters such as anime it really matters if the characters are two different styles (it gives the impression not of 'not being siblings' but rather 'drawn by completely different people.')

In the case of the teens, I've seen many complain that they don't like the way Thorne's characters look as being big eyed semi anime style things. Personally I like their look but you can see how people would think that wouldn't suit being in the same scene as Victoria, etc. because it's a different art style (to some at least, but mostly it only really matters for stylised characters.)
