  • Transfer Utility is messing up the front hem of floor-length skirts.

Is this on the base mesh it was made for, unposed? The root cause of this kind of thing is usually that the hem of the dress is closer to the feet than to the shins, so any weighting or shape adjsutment is projected from the feet and not from the shins - for example if you are converting from a V4 shape to a Genesis, from feet pointed down to feet flat, the hem of the skirt gets lifted to match the lift of the feet. If it's posed, adjusting the weight maps to remove the influence of the foot bones should fixe it; if it's a conversion from another shape (older geenration or modelled around a morph of the source figure) or a morph projection then you will need to edit the mesh to make a custom morph or to manually fix the base mesh and update it.

  • M4 body morphs not applying, how do I fix it?

Hey guys, I've been attempting to do some renders using the M4 model with the Morphs++ addon. However I've noticed that not a single morph is being apllied to the body. I can't use the default morphs in the pack nor can I use character morphs from elsewhere. The face I can alter but not the chest, arms, legs, anything. The files I'm using are installed on my desktop and my downloads folder but not in the core DAZ directory. Poses and materials are being applied as normal. So can someone please help me fix this issue?

Drat, I was hoping for an easy answer. Clutching at straws, but please post a screen shot of the option dialogue as you try to export your morph.

  • 200 Plus Head Morphs

Thanks, Dogz, for responding. To save effort and time, maybe you could leave off the full head morphs and just give us all the facial feature morph dials for G3M. I know how boring it is to do the same work twice. Or you could split the full head morphs into a separate package since they are basically the ethnic morphs that Daz has refused to put out for Genesis 2 and 3.

  • 200 Plus Head Morphs

@fred9803 May I suggest Morph Organizer? Put the morphs in an order that makes sense to you. It will probably go on sale when Genesis Generation X Add-On for Genesis 3 is released this month or June.

I'm already having trouble navigating through a morph dial list that extends from my pc down through several apartments below LOL. Adding 200 more dials to my face morph list will make finding any of them practically impossible.

BTW, Dogz just released Natural Breast Shapes; so, those who have not discovered the wonders of 200 Head Morphs can now do so for $9.87!!!!

  • The new Centaur 'n stuff thread - reloaded

Y'all go on and play with your "other" horses.   I prefer by far the Millennium Horse.  That is what this is, and a good ol Victoria 4.2 with every DAZ morph pack in sight.  Generation 4 is still the best.

I've already invested a lot in DAZ products.  Can't afford to do that again, nor do I have the energy left to keep doing that over and over.   In the image, the character is named XAI (westernized as 'sigh' sort of)  and is by my dial spinning in Poser Pro (7).    That is the MilHorse.  It is also HEMI426's V4Centaur Kit in use.   I can not thank him enough for that.  Because of his kit, I have been able to bring dreams and imagination to 3D reality.   When he announced this almost 8 years ago, it coincided with BluesDragon's Frazetta Art Contest here at DAZ.  I was so happy!  It was a giddy moment for me!   That contest turned into one of the biggest events our corner of this industry has ever seen.

And now, I have to re-create Xai and the others in recovering from a fatal hd crash 6 months ago.   And then I figure to write my story of Xai, and illustrate it.

  • Kitty Smile Morphs/Expressions

Hey, RC. I think that part of the reason why you haven't received responses is that it isn't entirely clear what you are asking. If I understand correctly, you want to know if you can adjust Genesis and/or Genesis 2 to have an expression that approximates the W shape of the mouths in your examples. The short answer would be yes, but not necessarily easily, in my opinion. The problem is that the mouth shape is not natural for a real human being, so the available morphs for the Genesis figures will probably not provide morph sliders that can achieve the desired result. Removing limits might offer some possibilities, but I am inclined to think that making the necessary adjustments in an external modelling program to create a custom morph may be the only way. Without having actually tried it myself, I'm only guessing when I say that it may present some difficulties in achieving acceptable results - it may prove to be more difficult than you first imagine. Drawing a line on a 2D image is a far cry from adjusting a realistic human 3D mesh to achieve a similar shape - it might look quite odd. You won't really know until you try.

I don't know about that. I mean, we can turn a realistic human base into a cartoon, a furry, a monster etc, but creating a kitty smile is too difficult? The third image I posted is even a 3D model, granted not a DAZ figure, but still.

  • Dynamic clothing tips

I missed this from earlier, but how do you turn obj into a conforming clothing??

Assuming it's for a Gensis figure (i.e. triax weight mapped) you select the OBJ prop and do Edit -> Rigging > Convert Prop To Figure

Then use the transfer function to fit it to Genesis X. As Source select G3F (or whatever figure it is) and for destination pick your new figure you just made. Select an appropriate template (shirt, dress, etc) and accept. I should now be conforming.

    So, Amblit, hmmm.

Ambient test, lit...you should see some of the other names...like test378 or test042116.  Yeah, my render folder has some very interesting names.

And after a few dial spins with some morph dials, I think she's a keeper and kind of reminds me of an Amber....

  • HD details in IRay

So I can confirm that SubD in the Render Time slot renders the HD. I now need to play some more to find the optimal setting as I believe SubD comes at a VRAM cost.

Very much so — each "step" of SubD will, generally speaking, quadruple the memory needed to hold the mesh data for that object. This is why having the SubD too high on too many figures will drastically slow down any except the most powerful computers, and in extreme cases, might crash D|S. You might need to reduce the Texture Compression threshold settings to compensate, but be aware this might reduce the render quality.

Incidentally, I usually go by the rule of "if the HD morph is starting to be visible in the Viewport, the setting is high enough to render acceptably well in Iray". A bit of a rough rule of thumb, but that gives me a starting point to begin tweaking in earnest.

So far I have not ventured above Render SubD at +3 and even then, only for close-ups with only two characters in the scene. Things like Zev0's Ageing morphs and Vascularity have parameter dials which can make them stand out even at +2. I thought the Viewport required the other (plain) SubD to show the details - I'm not sure I've seen HD in the Viewport with just Render time SubD but I'll have a look later.

Where are the Texture Compression settings and how does the threshold work? I'm still so new to IRay.

  • G3F - Waist Width morph and bad results on bending (also when just using the Olympia body shape)

Width is width and depth is depth but not if it comes to the waist width morph on G3F what causes bad results on the backside if the upper bodyparts get bended forward. Has someone a reasonable explaination why the waist width morph expand also the depth of the lower back of the hip/waist ? That causes bad results if the upper bodyparts gets bended forward. The result is a "step" on the backside between the hip and the waist region and that is also the result when just using the "Olympia body shape" which makes the "step" much more worse, okay, that is a character body shape but the waist width morph itself also does this just not so extreme.

  • Facial Expressions and the Transfer utility

It may be worth bumping up this old thread, since I too am having the same difficulty as well (now on Daz 4.9).

I create a mask from Genesis 3 face and use the transfer utility. But when I adjust any facial expressions, the mask does not follow the face. I've tried turning "auto follow" on in the parameters for the expressions, but this does not solve it. ...

...hoping that Daz has addressed this issue by now?

I'm trying to rig a floor-length skirt obj. Running it through Transfer Utility, however, does something weird to the geometry by the front hem. See screencap. How can I avoid this or correct it?

  • Can anyone identify this V4 character?

If you compare the SKUs there are only two V4 characters from Thorne (Nadia and Sondra) that are older than the textures the character is promoting. So if any, it should be Nadia. I gave it a try and with a lot of morph++ dialing I was able to get close, but I'm still not convinced. Among others the makeups included do not look like the one on the promo, but it could be postwork of course. Could not find any DS textures btw, despite it says both DS and Poser, so this is P5-6 textures.

Oh wow, that's very close!!! Thank you for taking the time to try that out, looks like I may have to ge creative with morph dials to see if I can replicate, not sure I'll get anywhere near as close as that though!!!

No problem. If you or anyone else want the shaping preset (requires V4 morphs++) it can be downloaded here:

  • hanseatic cog ~ texturing Medieval Koggen 'other format' obj in Daz {RESOLVED}

Then I applied the materials from the models' textures folder (put it somewhere on your Computer; I created a special folder for textures I applied manually); again I ignored the Runtime folder.

Note that this is a Very Not Good™ idea — the entire system of D|S (and Poser before it) being able to find textures and mesh and morph data is strictly dependent on those files being in the correct subfolder of a content location that D|S knows about. If you just load in textures and imported objects from random waytheheckoutthere folders, and assemble it into a scene, the result is a fragile file that will easily break, and will not work on any other computer in the world except yours.

  • Strange ripples in figure mesh following export from Zbrush using GoZ

Just a thought on your last point.

If I have a series of incremental changes (ie one new morph dial each time I come back from ZB), can I combine these morphs into a single morph? In other words, is there a way to combine morph dials into a single morph, other than exporting the figure as obj and then applying it to a new figure as a morph? (which of course combines every morph dial on the figure which is not normally what I want to do)

  • Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7

Very nice!  We had that product featured awhile ago and I still haven't tried it, I also read people were combining that with the Randomizer. (Which I haven't had time to try either. Geez.) How would those two work together? Anyone done it?

Yes, they work well together. Just type 200 in the filter and it will bring up the 8 morph groups. Check all but the last one. Also check the Zero before Randomizing; otherwise they build up and you get really weird shapes (that's true of most morph groups).
