  • Why is the Skin way darker compared to the Product Promo?

Vendors should test their charactors with the default empty HDRI scene (i think it's called RUINS-500 it's what loads when you choose dome). The default iso is 100. make sure your charectors work at this setting.

    No.

We're not going to make a character to look decent in the worst lighting possible, we're going to make it look its best period.  That means good lights, and good lights mean not the default empty HDRI scene with the camera headlamp on.  It's not hard for a user to learn how to use tone mapping and light skin at its best for Iray.  I have like three video tutorials and two written ones that go into this at some length.t happerns

I'm not a vendor and i've been doing this long enough to be able to correct things. But for arguements sake please, please hear me out.

You typical new user will go through these steps.

They will download Daz, and the free content. They'll do a few renders and curse as to why it's takeing 3 hours and why iray doesn't work on their 10 year old nvidia card. So once they selltle on that, they might decide to buy a product. They see a charector and they buy it, they hit render and guess what,  the charector looks like they spent 60 hours in a tanning salon.

So after putzing around a bit they figure they can just increase the iso, maybe play with the gamma, the charactor the spent $20 looks better now, but hold on, their HDRI back ground is all washed out and supper bright.

So what now, hey they deicide to go on the forums. Maybe other people have had the same problem. They find some totorial from daz 4.6, they watch them but then they relaize they have studio 4.9 and the meus are all different.

In the end they just give up and move on.

No loss for me, but if i was a vendor, I'd make sure customers don't give up and move on.

They hit render and guess what the character looks nothing like the promo, but like they spend way too much time at the tanning salon.

In the end they just give up and move on.

No loss for me, but if I was a vendor, I'd make sure customers doesn't give up and move on.

I'm not expecting vendors to render their promo images with the default lighting, but they should at least test it with the default lighting. Becuase some useres, that's all they will use for the first couple of weeks.

  • saving morphs and sliders?

Hi,, If it work well for you, I suggest keep your setting. smiley   To save morphs with each Figure Contents directories  is most recommended, I think.

Then to talk more detail,  "morph files (dsf)"  can  be saved in separate Library/data  from  library which "Figure(dsf)"  installed to.

Because dsf should be loaded  as" relative path"  from "each library root"  (root directories).

But to  DS recognize root directories path,   you need to set these "Root Contents  directories" by Content Directory Manager in daz studio. after that  all DSON files will load correctly.  then morphs saved different library will load with Actor too. (when you change value, these morphs data will be loaded )

But  it is Not about Carrara (may be different with each verision  , but before ,it  not worked about genesis figure morphs I reported,, then some beta work,  some not),

or some plug in (eg generation X)  will  not find morphs which saved different library (root DAZ contents directories) from the Actor.

I do not know how Generation X manage DAZ connect package,, but may be need to keep same root directories for Figures and Morphs.

Though I only Use DIM,  then I often save morphs with diffrent Library from genesis3,, it seems work .

(but old ds 4 version can not load moprhs which save as different Content Directory  from Actor too, then not recommend to save morphs different directory from Figures)

  • Questions regarding the EULA

Thank you for your answear :) Sorry for all theese stupid questions but  I want to make sure I don't do anything illegal. I have a few more:

1.Does that meen I have copyright of my renders?

2.Do I need permission from the vendors behind the characters and morphs I used in making my character morph if I send him my morph?

3.Is there any way to know how many polygons my character have

    1.  Yes, you own the copyright to your renders.

    2.  If your morph is a preset no...but the person you send it to needs all the content/morph packs you used to make it.  Otherwise it won't work.

    3.  There is a Scene info tab you can call up Windows > Tabs > Scene Info and if nothing is selected, it will show everything.  If a specific item is selected, it will show the info for that item.

Also quick question about the developer rig. I understand stripping the morphs and all the channels. So the Eula would also cover being not able to share a stripped developer rig too, correct? I'd have to point someone to the Daz site, get them to download one of the rigs, then explain step by step how to strip all the morphs and channels (and extras) so they'd have a rig to make content for, correct? Because that's what I'm thinking I need to do.

Yes...even stripping out all the morphs it's still the same mesh or derivative.

ok so are the GN3 figures just a morph for the M7 and V7 figures? I took a long break from 3d art and now see all this hype over the GN3 series. Do i need M7 and V7 to start using them?

    Hi all,

Is there a way to change the shaping tab morph dial icons from the large square icons to the more compact, rectangular icons like the ones displayed in the perameter tab?

  • Bluebird 3D TV - NEW PA Insider: How Else Do People Make Money With Daz Studio?

    https://www.facebook.com/charlene.eaton/videos/10154630793107200/

I was having way too much fun with Snapchat filters last night. ^^ That is an example. :D

But today I had a thought:

Wouldn't it be cool if we could use Daz Studio to create our own custom snapchat filters? Not just the silly ones (although those are my favorite, especially the ones that change my voice. I don't know why it is so funny but IT IS!)

What if we could get the skin painters and figure creators to do things like: Prop snapchat filters. You want to be a spartan warrior? Well snap a selfie and now you are!

I've looked into it and it appears Snapchat only allows what they call geofilters so far. Those are designed to work around a specific event and geographical location. I will be submitting a ticket later on to see if they will share any insights to whether they will eventually allow custom filters without a geographical requirement.

Here is what it could look like for a Daz PA:

    - Make your skin and figure
    - Sell it at Daz
    - Use your own skin to make a Snapchat filter and submit it there - with links back here to your Daz store and biz name.
    - Now you have more traffic. Cool!

Here is what it could look like for someone using Daz Studio for their own work:

    - Make a comic/still image/animation (whatever your thing is)
    - And again turn one of those assets into a filter for your family and friends.
    - Or… maybe use the filter to drive traffic to your clients business?

I don’t know. You tell me!

Feels like it could be something.

    One last thought:

I can’t get it out of my head. What if we somehow tied Snapchat filters into quick change avatars for Morph 3D? Thats way in the future. I know. But hey… what if?

  • Can't remember how to do this...

Thank goodness I have unlimited internet at work.  If I had to download 323Gb at home it would be a nightmare!  haha

Must be nice! I work for a national company with our own network and if we use the internet for any personal use outside of it we are repremanded. I always laugh when i see posts about content being non friendly to view in the work place when I have never worked for a company that allowed that in the first place, LOL.

Agreed!  All I need to do is let it download overnight, bring a 500Gb hard drive from home and use one of our external hard drive bays to transfer the data.  There has to be some kind of benefit to working for the government!

  • Lucian!

I'm not seeing what Lucians theme is? Is he a vamp? A goth warrior? Aside from being release close to Lilith he doesn't seem to be her counterpart.

Someone up at the top of the thread mentioned David. Bingo. I think he could be being smuggled in as David's replacement. He's certainly being pluged into the same "young adventurer" socket which was always traditionally David's primary turf. ("Traditional" being gen3. David 5 didn't seem to have a defined role -- although he did have rather a mean face.) Can Stephanie be far behind?

Adult, but younger than Michael (i.e., not a teen): check

    Slighter build than Michael: check

Supporting content heavily weighted toward adventure themes: check

I do like pretty much all of the bundle (particularly the add-on morphs), even though all of the clothing tends to fall into the "another same" category. But they look nicely done in the promos.

Yes, kudos to DAZ for making the promo of the base character morph mixed with other base morphs a standard. We need to see that, and it makes the possibilities a lot more obvious from the get-go. (At least for a male release we don't have to beg for a promo that isn't buried in eyeliner.)

  • 3D models usage

    The EULA says

Terms of Use. Two Dimensional Works. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, User may (i) access, use, copy and modify the Content in the creation and presentation of two-dimensional animations and renderings, (ii) incorporate two dimensional images (including two dimensional images that simulate motion of three dimensional objects) derived by User from the Content in User’s other works, and (iii) publish, market, distribute, transfer, sell or sublicense User’s two-dimensional animations, renderings and other works; provided that User may not in any case publish, market, distribute, transfer, sell or sublicense any renderings, animations, software applications, data or any other product from which any Content, or any part thereof, or any substantially similar version of the Content can be separately exported, extracted or de-compiled into any re-distributable form or format.

    And

    • Restrictions on Copying. The Content is provided for User's exclusive use. User does not have the right to provide the Content to others in any form or on any media except as set forth in this Agreement. The Content may be copied in whole or in part for User’s exclusive use. Specifically, User may copy the Content onto the storage device of an unlimited number of computers owned or controlled by User. The Content is for User’s exclusive use and no other individual or entity. Each individual must obtain his or her own license to use the Content.

Which means you can copy the content you buy on to any number of computers as long as they are all your computers, Each person who wants to use the content has to purchase their own copy. You can then render and sell or whatever you want to do with anything you produce with that content, as long as it is 2d, ie images, videos and animations. However you have to make certain that no part of the content that you have bought can be extracted from anything that you sell or otherwise redisrtibute.  So you cannot, for example, re-distribute any textures in such a manner that they can be used without needing the purchased item. You also cannot allow any one else to use your content nor give them a copy of it to "TRY"

3d items, ie if you want to make a 3D model of a Daz 3D model, can only be for personal use.  You cannot make 3d models of Daz content and sell them.

Absolutely verboten, without a game dev license, is using the content geometry (ie the actual mesh of the model)  and if it is used the terms of the Game dev license EULA must be adhered to.  THere is a separate EULA section for Game development

  • saving morphs and sliders?

Okay, thanks guys, I figured it out finally. And thank you so much for your very well written answers. Turned out that I needed to check the genesis 3 box then select only my morph. The way I read it was to leave everything unchecked except my morph. Thanks again guys, you all rock!

Edit: Just noticed after trying a couple more that they also disapeared, but I figured out exactly what the problem was. I needed to change the morph directory path to my daz library. it all works now.

  • Questions regarding the EULA

You are correct, you cannot send him any part of the model, mesh or original textures. You can do whatever you want with your own renders. You can send the preset and he would need to have the character and all the morph packs you used to get the same results

As for seeing the wireframe view, there is a small round icon in the upper right of the viewport with a drop down menu of different views.

  • saving morphs and sliders?

Thanks guys, I've been trying that, and it does work, only one problem. It only works for that one scene and one actor only that one time. I can't get the morph and slider toever come back after closing that scene. I saved it as morph asset, and changed parameters, everything and saved it all like I should. Also did exactly what you guys said.

Is there another setting I need to change to keep the morphs for future use? I have a lot of morphs already but am at the point now where I want to use my own, but I can't save any of them and use them again.

  • Questions regarding the EULA

I have some questions about the Eula, I find legal documents like this hard to read and understand and if someone could help me out with this I would be really grateful.

A man who makes a Motion Comic asked me if he can use a Daz model I made ( I dialed in some of the characters I have bought and used Genesis 3 female head and body morphs and 200 plus head and face morphs)  for a 3D promo for taking to game  publishers. He asked if it was possible for me to send him the model so that a 3D game designer can import the model into a gameengine and make demo gameplay for showing the publishers. If I understand it correctly he only wants to use it for showing the publishers.

Am I right in thinking that I can't send him the model itself but I can send him the morph I made? if so do I send him the shaping or character preset? and would he need to buy all the characters and morphs I used? do I need permission from the vendors behind the characters and morphs I used to send the morph I made?

If he should want to use the model in a game later he needs to buy a game liscense right?

He asked me how many polygons my model has, I have no idea as I am a beginner at Daz, how do I find out and how can I make a render showing the wireframe?

I also want to ask about renders, are the renders I make in Daz my property? can they be used commercially and be sold, or used during a commercial event?

Thanks in advance for helping me understand this :)

  • Teen Princess Leila

..so anyone who has her, have you tried using morphs like Breasts Smaller, Breasts Gone, or using special morphs like Dogz Natural Breast Shapes or Zev0's Growing Up?

Breasts Small seems to work decently over its full range; Breasts Gone and the Youth Morph cause problems past about 50-60%.

That said, it was not difficult to take her into Hexagon and create a corrective morph for Breasts Gone. (Liberal application of the Soften tool, and a light touch with the Displacement tool.)

An extra benefit of this is that if you dial up the corrective morph without using Breasts Gone, it gives her a chest shape similar enough to base G3F that you can use many breast morphs that work on the base figure.

Ill tell you a trick, if you want to use any Breast Morphs with Zev0s Youth Morph,

First, Locate The 'Youth Cheast Adjustment' morph included with Youth Morph,

Second, Edit its parameters so that its negative value limit is set to -100%

Third, Now dial it to a minus percentage to match the Value you have Youth morph dialed up.

(E.g using 25% Youth Morph, Dial Youth Chest Adjustment to -25%)

Now dial in the Desired Breast Morph, it should work much better. :)

Oh, that's clever. I thought to do that with various other morphs (Hitomi comes to mind) but never thought of it in that case. Still doesn't help with specific characters that have smaller breasts which screw any sort of mixing up but great for making more shapes via Growing Up.

  • I'm thinking of picking up the Supersuit Bundle. Pros/Cons?

One great thing about the Supersuit product that I don't hear enough is it comes with a basic suit that still has the generic fitting options native to its Genesis 1 base. Although the material and morph zones are more limited, it's quite versatile in its own right while allowing you to play around before moving to the greater possibilities offered by its bigger brother. smiley

  • Lucian!

This prabably the first pro bundle I have seen in the entirely of Genesis 3 where 100% of its content is useful, no lemons.  I know what I will be buying come saturday.

While Lucien is prabably meant to be Liliths partner, to me he definitly looks to be Arabella's Man.

    The highlights for me are:

    Characters:

Both are good, Corbin looks great. Oscar is good but think Oscar will be better than the promo art once we get a diffrent hairstyle on him.

    Hair:

Both look good, this is an area I am starved in for my G3 males, and they are both good for my Medieval fantasy renders.

    Outfits:

All are good, but to me the selling points are the Chevalier Armor and the Huntsman Outfit.  Excellent armor for your warriors and rogues.  Armor is another area G3M is starved so these are  defenitly needed additions to the G3M linup.

    Poses:

To me this is the weak spot, Excelent poses but they dont exactly support the bundle well.  Once we get a Vampire teeth morph for him then all is good for the poses.  We are either missing the vampire teeth morph or the poses are just the typical daz this is cool but make no sense with the bundles flavor motif.  While they dont support the bundle well, they are worth getting as I can see use for them.
